    Was it the lead in the water?

    • @LEGENDSREIMAGINED17
      @LEGENDSREIMAGINED17 Před 3 dny

      That's a great question! The theory about lead in the water affecting Roman emperors' behavior is definitely a fascinating one. Some historians suggest that prolonged exposure to lead, particularly through plumbing and wine storage, could have caused neurological issues. However, there's no definitive proof that lead poisoning alone was responsible for their actions. It's likely that a mix of political pressures, mental health issues, and personal ambitions played a role in their extreme behavior. Thanks for diving into the history with us! 😊

      @@LEGENDSREIMAGINED17 I read a book about Roman emperor’s years ago where the author described how they actually had crushing administrative workloads. I don’t recall the details but it sounded like there was no “White House staff” to write speeches, decrees, laws or to represent the emperor on his behalf before petitioners, diplomats etc. It was actually a very stressful and lonely job. No wonder so many actually hated it and employed various techniques to push people away.

    • @LEGENDSREIMAGINED17
      @LEGENDSREIMAGINED17 Před 2 dny

      That's a fascinating insight! The administrative burden on Roman emperors was immense, and many didn't have the luxury of a modern-day staff to handle the constant demands. They were expected to personally oversee everything from legal matters to military campaigns, often with little relief. It’s no wonder that the immense stress led some emperors to strange behavior or made them feel isolated. The pressure of ruling an empire was definitely more than just the grandeur we often imagine. Thank you for sharing that perspective!

      @LEGENDSREIMAGINED17 Před 19 dny

      That's an intriguing comparison! Both Caligula and Stalin are remembered for their brutal reigns, and it’s fascinating to think about the parallels between an ancient Roman emperor and a 20th-century dictator. Despite the vast differences in time and culture, human history often shows recurring patterns of power and tyranny. What specific traits or actions of Caligula remind you of Stalin? We'd love to hear more of your insights. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!

    • @stevelauda5435
      @stevelauda5435 Před 19 dny

      @LEGENDSREIMAGINED17 well first of all, Stalin killed off many within his inner circle too, and his practical jokes also served as a threat that he would often carry out. He also purged his generals , perhaps Caligula did not do this but he may have.

    • @LEGENDSREIMAGINED17
      @LEGENDSREIMAGINED17 Před 17 dny

      Indeed, Great points! Stalin's paranoia and ruthlessness certainly led to the elimination of many within his inner circle, much like how Caligula reportedly dealt with perceived threats. While Caligula might not have purged his generals in the same systematic way Stalin did, both leaders used fear and cruelty as tools to maintain their power. It’s fascinating how these patterns of behavior echo through different periods of history. Thanks for sharing your insights-comparisons like these really enrich the conversation around these complex figures!

      @LEGENDSREIMAGINED17 Před měsícem

      Thanks for your comment! It's true that Blucher's timely arrival with the Prussian army played a crucial role in the Battle of Waterloo. Wellington himself acknowledged the importance of the Prussian support. However, it's also worth noting that Wellington's strategic acumen, defensive tactics, and the resilience of his troops were key factors in holding off Napoleon's forces until the Prussians could arrive. The victory was a combined effort, showcasing the importance of alliances in warfare. Both Wellington and Blucher deserve credit for their respective roles in this pivotal moment in history.

    Your history is not correct. Also highlight the atrocities and loot done by Babar in India.

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts. While we strive to provide accurate historical narratives, it's important to acknowledge the complexities and nuances of history. Regarding Babar's conquests in India, it's undeniable that there were instances of violence and devastation, which are part of the historical record. However, it's also crucial to recognize that Babar's rule wasn't singular in its use of force during conquest. Throughout history, various rulers, including other famous rulers of India like Shivaji and later Peshwas, expanded their dominion across large parts of India through a series of military campaigns. While revered for their resistance against Mughal rule, Maratha forces also engaged in brutal warfare, including sieges, massacres, and pillaging of enemy territories. Highlighting atrocities committed by Babar alone without contextualizing them within the broader historical landscape would present an incomplete picture. History is a tapestry woven with myriad threads, and it's essential to examine it from multiple perspectives to gain a comprehensive understanding. In our exploration of legends and historical figures on this channel, we aim to present a balanced portrayal, acknowledging both the triumphs and the tragedies of the past. Thank you for engaging in this discussion, and we welcome further insights and perspectives from our viewers.

    Alexander might have been the superior military genius, but Caesar's accomplishments were by far greater. Alexander just conquered and moved on to the next place with no overall strategy. When he died after 13 years, the only lasting accomplishment was the spread of Greek culture, and that was due to the superiority of the Greek poets and philosophers. Caesar didn't conquer and move on; he had a plan to join a significant chunk of land with its peoples to the Roman Empire. He did that successfully, and his achievement endured.

      Thank you for sharing your perspective on Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar. Both figures indeed left an indelible mark on history, each with their own unique achievements and legacies. While it's true that Alexander's conquests were swift and expansive, leading to the spread of Greek culture across vast territories, it's important to recognize the strategic brilliance behind his military campaigns. Alexander's ability to adapt to various terrains, employ innovative tactics, and inspire his troops to remarkable feats of courage and endurance cannot be understated. However, your point about Caesar's accomplishments is equally valid. Caesar's vision for the expansion and consolidation of the Roman Empire was unparalleled. His meticulous planning, political acumen, and administrative reforms transformed Rome into a dominant force in the ancient world, shaping the course of Western civilization for centuries to come. Both Alexander and Caesar were towering figures of their time, each leaving a lasting impact on the world in their own way. While Alexander's conquests may have been more focused on territorial expansion, Caesar's achievements in governance and statecraft laid the foundation for the enduring legacy of the Roman Empire. In our exploration of legends and historical figures on this channel, we aim to celebrate the contributions of individuals like Alexander and Caesar, recognizing their complexities and the lasting imprint they left on the tapestry of human history. Thank you for engaging in this discussion, and we welcome further insights and perspectives from our viewers.

    Alexander The Great had not enough daring to conquer the Indian so he decided to marry his daughter Helana to an Indian king called "Chandra Gupta Mourya". Later the grandson (from first wife) of Chandra Gupta Mourya named "Ashok The Great" conquered more land than those two combined.

      While it's true that Alexander the Great did marry Roxana, daughter of the Sogdian nobleman Oxyartes, it's not accurate to suggest that he did so out of a lack of daring to conquer India. Alexander's campaign in India was indeed challenging, but his decision to turn back was primarily due to factors such as his troops' fatigue, mutinous sentiments, and the daunting logistical challenges of sustaining a prolonged military campaign in unfamiliar territory. Additionally, the claim that Alexander married his daughter Helana to an Indian king named Chandra Gupta Maurya is historically inaccurate. Chandra Gupta Maurya ruled in India several centuries after Alexander's time, during the 4th century BCE. There is no evidence to support the notion that Alexander had any direct involvement with the Mauryan dynasty. Furthermore, while it's true that Ashoka the Great, the grandson of Chandra Gupta Maurya, expanded the Mauryan Empire to encompass a vast territory, including much of the Indian subcontinent, it's important to note that his conquests occurred long after Alexander's era. Ashoka's reign began around 268 BCE, more than a century after Alexander's death in 323 BCE. In conclusion, while the comment highlights interesting historical figures and events, it contains inaccuracies regarding Alexander's motives and actions in India, as well as the timeline of events related to the Mauryan Empire. These too men are constantly compared but in all reality Richard crushed saladain in every engagement. Had Richard not been forced back to England because of internal English problems he would have retaken Jerusalem after he crippled saladain breadbasket in Egypt. I'm not taking anything away from saladain man was a proven commander and his people still worship him today as a fine leader but the facts are facts and that facts are Richard won every time there army's meet. More impressive Richard did it wish a army who saladain had previously smashed in all the engagements. Richard leadership and military organization had to of been truly remarkable

You rightfully highlight Richard's military achievements during the Crusades, emphasizing his strategic acumen and leadership prowess. It's undeniable that Richard's campaigns in the Holy Land left a significant mark on medieval history, and his reputation as a skilled commander is well-deserved. Your suggestion that Richard could have potentially retaken Jerusalem, had he not been recalled to England due to internal issues, invites us to ponder the "what-ifs" of history. Indeed, the Crusades were fraught with unforeseen circumstances and shifting alliances, and Richard's departure undoubtedly altered the course of events in the Holy Land. However, it's essential to recognize that history is often shaped by a multitude of factors, many of which are beyond the control of individual leaders. While Richard's military prowess was formidable, the geopolitical landscape of the time was complex, with various powers vying for influence in the region. Furthermore, We can mention Frederick Barbarossa and his hypothetical conquest of Jerusalem and it would add another layer of complexity to the discussion. Indeed, Barbarossa's vast army and military might could have significantly altered the balance of power in the Holy Land, had he successfully reached his destination. Yet, as with all "what-if" scenarios, it's crucial to approach such speculation with caution, recognizing the inherent uncertainties of history. Ultimately, the comparison between Richard and Saladin offers us valuable insights into the complexities of medieval warfare and diplomacy. There was no Palestine in 57 BC. Hadrian named the region as Syria Palestina in 132 (or 136) CE to erase any mark of Judaism.

      Great point! Here Palestine is used point to the geographical area currently named as Palestine Otherwise The term 'Palestine' indeed came into more common usage after Emperor Hadrian renamed the region following the Bar Kokhba revolt. This was long after the time of Mark Antony. It's important to consider these historical contexts to understand how regions were known and referred to in different eras. Thanks for highlighting this crucial historical detail
