I infact remember seeing this precooking step in all instrucional videos for making stock. Although those recepies include bones and nails and maybe even more nasty stuff like whole heads and beaks and such. Meat from the grocery store or from your trusty butcher should not be needed to be washed and pretreated I assume.

It works!! My jacket had stains from at-least 9months ago but most of it was removed. Some very stubborn parts did not come off. Maybe because I decided not to wash it sooner! Also, I recommend making 2x the size of the solution, it runs out quickly.
