1972 Pontiac carb install

Installed an old carb today. Step 1 to getting the Ventura back running.
Scissor Cleaning
zhlédnutí 92Před 9 hodinami
Quick cleanup of an old pair of scissors I got for FREE! I just wanted to cleanup the inner and outer blades, I was not worried about having them look brand new just functional.

Just an introduction to my old car. I have been itching for several years to get started on this, and I think it’s time!

Yank that hei out u need to go to modern times and go with a points distributor and start running leaded gas!!!
@@daleheinz4173 this car has not been touched since 2003. And I actually still have original points dist. And 2barrel carb setup. But I have bigger plans for it. 😁
Do you want that AFB to work great off idle. You man need to use a wide band air fuel ratio gauge. Look at the air fuel ratio at steady throttle 1700 rpms in park or neutralhow far off 14.7 is it. The economiser restriction AKA idle feed restriction in in the primary cluster behind the idle air bleed on the outside of the cluster mounting block. Use a 61 to 80 drill set to increase 0.001 at a time on both primary clusters till the flat spot from idle to 2000 rpms is gone
@@waynep343 thanks for the tip. This is the first afb I have ever had. Picked it up from a buddy to get the car going. I normally use holley but didn’t want to throw down that much money on it yet.
Do you have mice and rodents in the house? No? Paid in full, with a snuggle as a tip.
@@regolith907 you got me. 😂
😂😂😂
Chewey delivers the good stuff😊
I had a 74 ventura. One of my favorite cars i owned . Wish I did blow the motor racing it. Oops
@@sticksnstones6177 that sucks. I actually have a 74 also, that we bought for parts. It is just a hull at this point but I am glad I held on to it over the years.
I'm thinking the Pontiac Ventura was the sister of Chevy Nova
@@joejaramillo9757 yes basically the same body just some subtle differences. Grille, headlights, taillights, etc
My older brother had one about 1977. It was white. I was twelve. Jammin' the eight track!!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@derekpierkowski7641 awesome! I’ll never forget working on this with my dad. Wish I had more pics of us together working on it.
All Pontiac engines used the same block from small all the way to a 455ci Same architecture just bored and stroked to their liking. They never had a big or small block. They were just a Pontiac block and if comparison is made to other engines it is more like small block. Kind of like the LS now with displacement up to 427ci
@@plap. yes. And make great torque. Just not the best block design, especially the lifter valley.
That car was always 12 volt!! GM hasn't had a generator since the 1950s!!!
You are correct. in my head I was thinking about the generator and 6 volt came out. 😬
@@LandonKelly85Alternator
Probably referring to the 6 volt point system for the ignition was changed over to 12 volts.
@@rodcleve there was no 6 volt system in that new of a car. That went out in the 1950s! The system in that car is the same as todays.
@@willschultz5452 that car had points ignition. Can you tell me what voltage points run on. I’ll give you a few mins to google it. Maybe too lazy……it’s around 5 to 7 volts and more when cranking. Points used a ballast to reduce the 12 volts from the battery to what is needed. Now go google what voltage an electronic distributor runs on. I can’t debate you and educate you at the same time. Google is your friend and won’t make you look stupid.
Awesome !! ❤
@@EvanLangille-g7b thank you 🙏
Piece of junk! Nova body with a Pontiac nameplate.
Wasn't the firebird a camaro?
@@redfishbluefish67they were very similar, like this car and the nova. Gm owned Chevrolet and Pontiac so cars are very similar.
Beautiful car.
Thank you😊

Nice
@@jakesnow7273 thanks it was fun
I like your style. working and mumbling, create a real good vibe.
@@weightbally9671 thanks
Supposed to heat it after it touches water. Cast iron absorbs water inside the pan so heating it removed all the water that gets sucked into it, then coat it.
Hooked me off the rip 😂
@@ryanfair4129 thanks
If you water at night the snails and slugs come out and eat your crop water at sunrise and the soil will stay moist most of the day and you will have less pest eating your crop

You explain things good. But you need to show the part you are working on. We can't tell from half way up the garage. I see that you do kind of at near the end .
Thanks for the comment, I’m still learning the camera and angles of things and I hope I can get better on the camera work. I really do appreciate the feedback.
