Re: HotD. Watchparties are fun. But, I think it's much easier to miss scenes, or sometimes even detach an emotionally compelling moment, because you're trying to stay engaged with the chat. In fact, as a viewer, I've noticed the same thing for myself because I'm trying to follow chat. I would much rather have the breakdowns afterwards. It gives everyone time to let the episode sink in and think about thought-provoking scenes, as well as our overall perceptions of it. That's my preferred way to engage about the show. But, that's just me.

Seems like a lot of people are punishing this show for sins of other shows. If you don't give them all a fair shake, they won't know what works and what does not and/or people will ignore you. And I am starting to be concerned about the trend by people to trash the idea of producers/writers/directors bringing "their own experience" into Star Wars. That's literally what Lucas had done. He likely wants every writer, of the spinoffs, to do the same thing. That's how a lot of great art is made. The EU was made that way too. You don't need to love every Star Wars show/movie. Hopefully we will all have at least 1 Star Wars show or movie come out every few years that we absolutely love.

The marketing so far is that Star Wars is gay. I really try to just watch. But the actors are soooo ult left that I'm really trying to stay away from interviews and promotions. They are annoying and I'm over them telling me what Star Wars is.

At least in regards to queerness. I mean, there's the lesbian couple (who mightve broken up in season 1 of andor) and the background kiss in the sequel movies. That really isn't a whole lot. People keep saying they don't care about it and just want good or cool stories....and i'm like.....so good and cool stories can't have queer characters in them? At all? Or that makes them "not good" by default and it doesnt actually matter what the storytelling is like? Or directing or acting? There are literally people angry about the fact that osha had mothers instead of a mom and dad. Like actually angry. It was a comment that was brushed off. Time wasn't even spent on it.
