It is worth noting what happened historically that caused this marvelous violin concerto, Schumann's 3rd violin sonata, and some of his other late great music fo be left out of the repertoire for close to a century. His friend the great violinist Joachim, realizing that Schumann's mental health was deteriorating and that his music was becoming a little erratic in certain structural and technical ways, withheld the music from publication and hid it away after Schumann''s death, to protect the "reputation of the master". Why Joachim didn't prioritize the deep inner beauty of this late music over the sometimes flawed structure only he would know. Somehow we got it back, and avoided the tragedy of it being lost forever. To this day I feel that all of Schumann's violin music, except perhaps the first sonata in a minor, is heard far too little. I'm not sure what other late Schumann also disappeared. Incidentally, Schumann's orchestration was long regarded as so flawed that Mahler reorchestrated some of the best known symphonies.

I'm very accustomed to another version where Nicklaus/the Muse are doubled by a Mezzo soprano, and i was surprised to hear a man singing those lines at first, but I really enjoy this take! The conductor really makes Offenbach's lively sense of rhythm unmistakable in this recording, too!

But he really sticks to it .Thanks that Brahms came and saved the German violin concerto after Mendelssohn ,1868Bruch .I must research and find what concrti every touring violinist played in those days? May I ask what you mean by "saved the German violin concerto after Mendelssohn and Bruch"? Forgive if I am wrong, but it sounds like you are influenced by the ideology of Wagner and ultimately National Socialism. (Bruch, by the way, despite composing a setting of kol nidre, just as he did a much longer setting of scottishj tunes, was not Jewish in any way.) At any rate, please telll us what you do have in mind. And again forgive me if you meant something entirely different (perhaps the immediate entry of the violin without the symphonic exposition?)
