Marxist economics should be a major part of Political Economy, Economic History and Labour Economics...if justice is to be done. Remember Historical Materialism.

The guy is wrong, everyone should absolutely read the wealth of nations. It gives you a basic understanding of economics, of course the world has gotten a lot more complex, with the much more complex banking system, luxury goods that no one needs but everyone want and where the price function doesn’t apply, but the idea at the wealth of nations lies in freeing up labour capacity is still absolutely valid.

Folowed by Industrial Org/ Micro, as theories of monopolies, oligopolies etc. are useful tools. Econometrics and Econ History ahead of Macro, as Macro is emprical and cant be formalized. Macro has to go in D tier. Marxian as part of Historybof Econ Thought in the B tier. Beahvioral Econ in F tier, as it pointless and completely bias in its setup. All the rest ranks somewhere in the middle. That way you also get close to a normal distribution in rankings. What else?!

If you think that Marxist economics is stuck in the past, look at some courses or online videos by Anwar Shaikh. Btw, most Political Economy classes are based on a Marxian approach.

Game Theory, should always be S tier. Industrial Organization borrows so heavily from game, same with labor. Pretty much all modern economics has some sort of relation to Game Theory. Industrial Organization is just watered down game with price discrimination and cornout Bertrand Games(precursors of game theory but nonetheless), anti-trust, collusion, horizontal integration, and vertical restraints. also, mathematical economics is straight optimization. Like actual optimization, with multi variate chain rule, cramers rule, optimization with multiple constraints, hessian matrixes all of this lead to advancements in machine learning and optimal control theory. I don’t mean this personally, but it is when that is not acknowledged, people hate on this major. So, no I don’t care for this video and I don’t mean that disrespectfully. Utilty(utils) came from economics, Reinforcement Learning borrows so heavily from economics and everything I just said which lead to massive improvements in deep learning and many forms of engineering. I am not writing a bitter comment to be rude, I am just saying that economics is more broad and more complex.

One little tid bit about econometrics and or statistics. Once I wanted to take a chemistry class and there was one open seat so I showed up to the class ready to be signed on by the instructor and said instructor told me this; Statistics show that people who sign up the day of do not complete the class. I was dismissed and refused. Another time I heard an advisor to an advisor tell me, statistics show that if this class is not taken within the first semester or two, the person does not complete the program. So said student is put into a statistical box and not allowed to pursue her intended education per se. Said student decided on a degree in Philosophy which did put her in a 4.0 status. After pursuits to specific BA's, currently having eliminated all majors that put people in statistical categorical boxes and decided upon economics instead. I feel really good about my choice and if the world is better for me not being a nurse or teacher - so be it, but I at least tried. Viewing these videos enhances my security within the major and it is my belief anyone can contribute to the prosperity of a plate without being deemed heated spinach because at least it is good for the body. Anyway, the point is if you are a statistics person and decide a categorical box is good for a predictive pedestal, then calculate the chances of overcoming a success so the added spice can make a difference. That's all. Usually, when something like this happens it is like ecolalia in repeated redundancy with living by concrete evidence with an improbable future because you wanted to be 100% and we all know that miracles can equate to 200% or better. Do not put people in statistical categorical boxes, please. Not you but those who do. I am looking forward to pursuing economics and those things that build credible equity for possible economic success.
