38 year marriage - vulvar vestibulitis/ vulvodynia/ vestibulodynia from the beginning. It got much worse when I went vegan due to oxalates (which are naturally occurring molecules shaped like microscopic ground glass). Vulvodynia got much better when I went on a low oxalate diet. Hydrangea root, calcium citrate, topical estadiol also helped, but vestibulitis did not get better. Key: water based lube and creams sting/ burn. Used to use lidocaine for sex, but that has stopped working. Copious OIL- based lube--especially anti-inflammatory emu oil-- has been very helpful in conjunction with dilators to get the oil really well coating my vagina and everything very relaxed and super-lubed and the internal skin stretched right before sex. You're right. It's the skin and the way the nerves communicate. It still stings a little when I use the oil with the dilators with the oil, but I give it a few minutes to settle down after each size, then super-lube the next larger one and work my way up till big enough. It was always less painful right at ovulation and more painful between ovulation and period. Physical therapy/ bio feedback didn't help me either. Still on low oxalate diet and I get a whole-vulva flare up if I eat too many oxalates over a few days. But the emu oil plus dilators (even after having 3 kids) seems to be working for now. The Vulvar Pain Foundation, run by women with this condition, has been a life-changing resource for me. Most of my relief and near-recovery tactics were found there.

I have had SSRIs , been with high sex drive all my life until I started to take SSRIs , it’s been now 2 years and NOUP, there’s no real feeling , it’s numb. No matter how I try it’s nothing. Ditch the SSRIs. My doctor doesn’t believe SSRIs has caused it but I know it has. I asked my friend in Brazil to just go to his friend GP and ask him to prescribe it to him for me and I plan to take it 150 mg for two months and see how it goes but there must be a way out and it’s worth a try …
