@@dunkie5863 then stop saying it, this is pointless, unpatriotic and divisive. Unceded means that the land is not part of the Canadian state that it does not belong to the people of this nation. These "acknowledgements" are wimpish parroting of the self-loathing Canadian lot. This stupidity gotta stop and the Canadian constitution and its people regardless of their skin colour and ethnicity should be the masters of all their lands. *My guess is that phenomena of Virtue signalling has been around since humans first started signalling to each other, it only got a name so recently.

@@dunkie5863 perhaps humans have been virtue signalling since we started signalling to each other, it’s only been labeled so, recently in our history. These acknowledgments are pointless and hollow. It’s mere posturing. The land and its resources belong to every Canadian. The overwhelming majority Canadians are non-indigenous. The composition of this society is long changed. Any claims to sovereignty by any groups of people within the land and maritime boundaries of canada should be inconceivable to a patriot. We should stop constantly making it a talking point and move on.

Bicycle infrastructure here is disgusting. Thirty thousand car-centric immigrants arriving in halifax yearly with car-brains . The immigrants are victims of relentless advertising from automobile manufacturers and so it's not their fault for being brainwashed. I love that there are new folks moving here but just do the math . Seventy percent will buy a car and there in lies the problem. The streets in halifax can't be widened anymore and there isn't any room for parking lots or parking spaces anymore. It is going to be much more dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists such as myself. Forty percent of all commutes in halifax are under eight kilometers. That's an easy bike ride even for fifty year old cigarette smoking Doug Ford types.

Cycling infrastructure is a joke in HRM. Yes, there are new, protected bike lanes being built in the city but how do you get to them if you don't live in the downtown core? I live in Beaver Bank and have a 32 km ride to work if I go to Dockyard or to Shearwater. The Waverly road is the only way for me to get to either location and is the safest route. It isn't safe, but it is the safest. To go to Shearwater I have to ride past the old refinery. That 4 lane highway is part of the Great Trail that spans all of Canada. It is illegal to ride on the sidewalks there. Thank you for raising the prominence of this problem.

Maybe city council could email some of these stores and coax them to install bike racks and then give them an incentive such as a small tax break .

The main issue isn't the average Canadian, it is the "British Crown Corporation Thing" which claims all the land resources. And that thing isn't your friend either. BC is a prime example, the province sells a tree (which it doesn't own) to a timber company for $20 while the same tree would be $200 in Washington state, does it a million times and then complains there is no money for schools or hospitals. But it is OK because I as a BC boy can get a $40-50/h job cutting those trees and pay 60% income tax so that the province and fed together can still claim not to have money for schools or hospitals... and when I wonder where the $ go, I remind myself that Elizabeth had to get her $30 Trillion somewhere.

unceded doesn't necessarily mean they're still willing to fight, it just means no treaties were signed, no wars were won, and no agreement was made for the land. claiming that they should expect push pack from settler populations is kinda silly and makes it sound like its expected that the new indigenous ran governments are gonna be bad in some way which is an odd assumption.
