Aircraft most certainly can display speed in mph or km/h. Speed is just distance over time. An aircraft does not care what the display speed is

Somebody posted on vansairforce (I think) that they lost their plane when they couldn't find the boost pump in a hurry. The ideal spot is at the end of the row of switches, where you can find it by location, label, and in your case, color. After all, you're unlikely to need lights in an emergency. Sorry to be a downer, but...

Thought for sure those drawers were going to fall out at the end…. I’m using some standard hanger bins for tool parts now stuff. Works good too. Until a bin falls, that’s gonna suck.

The engine was vibrating. You added some weights near the prop, and the amount of vibration was reduced. You don't really know that the prop was out of balance. The prop could be perfectly balanced. Maybe the engine is "out of balance". Adding some weight in the right spot near the prop could just be countering some sort of engine imbalance/vibration. It seems like you should start by taking off the prop and running the test. Almost certainly the four cylinders are not perfectly balanced. One cylinder is almost certainly a little stronger than the rest, and one cylinder is almost certainly a little weaker than the rest. A little more or a little less fuel. Timing slightly off. Dirty spark plug. Try disconnecting one of the spark plugs (not both) to one of the cylinders and see what happens to the vibration. I would be very interested in hearing your comments on this.

Very thorough explanation of each step including tips that are not in the manual. Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I think it is worth noting that the engine component rotation ratios are in the respective engine manuals so when doing the spectrum analysis you can pick out probable vibration sources.

Audio is interesting. Stereo is exactly backwards. Unsure of how one would fix it.

I've got these on my RV-9A cowling and they work well, but they DO occasionally come all the way out. You'd think it was impossible, but no. :)

Congrats on the new fly-in airport/home! You just eliminated the most stressful and dangerous part of flying: the drive to and from the airport.

A battery powered G5 made my life MUCH less “exciting” one dark night in my RV-9A a few years ago. Long story. 😂 I’m a huge fan of that gadget. Totally agree that physical buttons and metal vents are preferable, and I still need to install the latter... Wish I had a setup that nice for my Mountain High gear! Terrific video.

Great video! Love it! I saw some people that were priming overlapping pieces on both sides. For example, a piece of skin would be primed completely on the interior but about 1 inch from the side is also primed on the opposite (exterior) side. Is that something you also do?

How do you splice your can bus nodes if not using the butt splices

Anyone try the "Black Max" dehumidifier? They used to be about $500. Now I see them in the $650 range.Worth it if it does the job well, especially since it's not just during the build. It's designed for everyday use. Just looked up the DryBot. $1200. I think I'll go with a Black Max. It would be great to see a comparison video. They both probably have about $100 in parts to manufacture them.

Gill, would like to hear where you left off on your avionics and whether you got to a point of turning on your system? Also, how have you been impacted by the Van's drama? Were any of your parts laser-cut? I assume from your videos you got your engine early? Or did you end up having to pay more? What's your time-line now for finishing up with the RV-10?

Guil, FYI, I noticed during your video that you have installed the oil cooler mount on the firewall. Are you aware that airflow recommends installing a turning vane in the box to improve air flow. I did not discover that until I had installed mine but was able to fabricate the vane and modify the mount to "get it in". Google airflow systems rv-10 turning vane for instructions.... Give me a shout and I will show you how I modified the mount to get the vane in.
