I grew up in Michigan, and there ain't no way my parents were going to take me to Damn Disneyland.!! When my best friends Dad rented a "Ef'fin Winnebago" and took his 5 kids to LA via Grand Canyon, I begged to go with them and even conspired to stowaway in the RV closet.! I was so dedicated to this mission that eventually I earned a trip to Disneyworld in Orlando selling newspaper subscriptions, to get the Grand Prize trip to FLA. Eventually, I made it to Disneyland as an adult, twice, and finally got my damn dream come true. "Never Give Up, Never Surrender".!!

I would say the QM would have survived the Ice Burg. We know today that there is not a gash in the starboard side of the Titanic. The ice burg caused a separation of the plates where the rivets gave way. This was in part to due the fact that the temperature of the sea water that night was below freezing at 28° to 31° and affected the strength of the steel. Yes, cold water can snap steel. See the SS Schenectady. With the QM having the longitudinal water tight bulkheads and the double hull, I feel she would have survived. All things considered the Titanic saved as many people as she could by sinking as slowly, and evenly as she did. Not many ships that have sunk before or since where able to launch ALL their life boats. Not even the Costa Concordia. Titanic was able to launch ALL of hers. She was a well built ship there is no doubt about that. It was a long list of human errors that sank her.

I was there opening day Oct 1 1971 my birthday was Oct 2.. back then I think it was $3.50 to get in but you had to buy tickets for each ride A to E tickets.. thus a killer ride today is called an “E” ticket! Probably been there 30 times over the years. Sad so much of Disney now is all greed.. I’ve done business with the company and they rip off your products and make them in China. I had the idea when all they had were Mickey t shirts to do shirts for each major ride.. space mountain … pirates of the Caribbean.. splash mountain.. haunted mansion etc..so I did a presentation of sketches to the company and they said thanks only to do it themselves a few weeks later.. geesh!

Now that there planning on closing down the "PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN" for good because of a couple of woke wackjobs is one more reason why I'll never go again. My last visit was AUGUST 1983. I payed $ 26.00 at the time. Unreal.

Went to Disneyland with family a couple times in the 90's and DisneyWorld for my senior class trip. It really was magical. As much as I hate on Disney now I'd still take my kids there, it's a mind opening experience.

Over these past few months, I've been becoming more and more of a Queen Mary fan. I used to staunchly sing the praises of the Normandie and the Queen Elizabeth and poke fun at the Mary, but now I realise just how iconic she is, and that she well disserves her praise. Perhaps if Kylsant hadn't run White Star into the ground, we'd have gotten Oceanic. Perhaps if Normandie hadn't have burnt, it'd be a different story. Perhaps if the Elizabeth had been able to escape her sister's shadow and wasn't cremated at Hong Kong, things would've been different again. Queen Mary is a survivor, and I've learnt to absolutely love her. Not gonna say I love the Normandie any less, I've just learnt to adore this grand old lady. Normandie was modern. Queen Mary was practical. Normandie was glamourous. Queen Mary was comfortable.

I'll add an 11th: walk the promenade deck. Or the boat deck: that works too. Walking around up on deck is a classic and relaxing seagoing pasttime, as well as providing good exercise. As an athlete myself, I know I would love nothing more than to go thundering around the deck at full speed for as many laps as I can. :D

@16:35 this wasn’t the first theme park in the world. Heck Knott’s Berry opened in 1920. But there were several other parks around the world that opened before Disneyland.

From living in the Bay Area, and talking to a few people who actually knew her, and whose family members worked for her, she was a kind woman who had the money to employ many people, and paid well above the going rate.
