    Did you add corn to the chicken feed?? Yuck! Corn has zero nutrition, plus 99% of corn is GMO!! GMO causes tumors in lab rats, which closely mimics the human anatomy! To feed your chickens non-organic feed, or corn, means YOU are feeding yourself GMO ingredients, and will be destined to have numerous health issues in your body!! Buy organic feed for your chickens, sans corn, and feed yourself all organic foods for a longer and healthier life! You deserve that, brother!

    • @Trinity_Exotics
      @Trinity_Exotics Před 8 dny

      First of all, the way you’re using the term “GMO” is as if it’s something you spray on crops, GMO can be something as simple as an albino animal. Even organic food are GMOs because they were selectively bred or genetically mutated to achieve a desired trait. 2nd of all the corn and chicken feed I give to my babies makes up about 30% of what I give them. Most of their diet consists of scraps and vegetables from my uncle’s restaurant franchise and other chicken safe leftovers from what we eat. I have plenty of fruit trees on my property they enjoy daily as well. I appreciate your concern, but don’t worry about what I’m doing.

    04:40 Children's pythons-or _Antaresia childreni_ taxonomically-despite their ironic specific name, were actually named in honor of a man named John George Children, who was curator of the zoological collection of the British Museum, in London, in the mid-1800s. 😉 The species was described in 1842 by his "protégé" or apprentice, apparently, John Edward Gray. They’re actually the type-species, or the "main" species, of the genus _Antaresia_ -which also contains spotted pythons (A. maculatus) from Eastern Australia, the Papuan spotted python (A. papuensis) of New Guinea and Torres Strait, and the pygmy python (A. perthensis) from Western Australia. I think the name is misleading… They should’ve just called the snake John George’s python, or Johnny’s python, idk. 🤣 Then people maybe wouldn’t get the wrong idea. 😜 They’re small & relatively docile, but I think it takes work to get them chilled out… as opposed to ball pythons, where the work revolves around managing their potential hunger strikes & getting them just to open up, be chill, and socialized! Ball pythons are really sort of the opposite of most snakes. The curling-up in defense, the reclusiveness, a general sweet, stoner-looking derpy face. 🤤 I’m sure some are real firecrackers out there. But with the _Antaresia_ genus, I’ve heard they’re not all they’re cracked up to be, as far as temperament; like, mostly they can be chill but are a bit like a dog… in that they require socialization & taming-down. Trust-building, hand-feeding, working on food response strikes, etc.

    Also, I think anyone who’s considering snakes but maybe is nervous or inexperienced should consider rosy boas… "way back" in 1992 (yep), in my first grade class, we had several pets, including a garter snake, salamanders, and our favorite, a black-striped white rosy boa. Very thick bodied, substantial snake, and so chill. A full grown female. Like, the entire class of 6/7-year olds eagerly interacted with her everyday… I think that was one of my earliest herp "moments" that got me into them. A rosy boa in an elementary school classroom is a great lesson in SOCIALIZATION and taking. For any animal. The fact that this snake (which naturally is preyed on by hawks, eagles, foxes, owls, kingsnakes, coyotes, roadrunners, badgers, and more) wanted to be with us and wasn’t scared stood out to me even at that young age. I’m pretty sure the only times she wasn’t handled were weekends & holidays. She was probably sad without us. JK. I just use that experience to reassure people; if a fully-grown female, definitely larger than a male, can seemingly enjoy being handled by a bunch of "hyper" kids and passed-around each day (with teacher’s supervision-it was her snake, lol), it’s probably a decent pet. And as you said, people go helping a pick them up. I live in San Diego, prime habitat, so it shouldn’t be too hard to do, but I’ve never seen one wild. But anyway, not once was this snake nippy with the kids, or anyone, nor did she ever try to squirm away. I think she wanted to be with us all day on our desks! 🤣 I do recall once she actually musked on a girl’s arm, because suddenly we heard the girl, "it pooped on me!!" 🤣

  • @erikm8372
    @erikm8372 Před měsícem

    Kenyan sand boas are cool. And as far as the striking, I don’t know if it’s simply a food response or they’re pissed at being bothered, or both, but as soon as you’re handling them, they completely relax. To the point of crawling all over your face and shoulders. Basically a little more reclusive, old world version of a rosy boa.

      When i worked at a reptile shop there was 1 particulat KSB that would ambush me almost every time i cleaned his water bowl (we clean them every time we refill them). Id know he was in there, but never know where lol. As soon as i would touch ANYTHING in the cage, i would get tagged lol. He was totally fine once he was out. He just had an insane feeding response. In hindsight id probably to some tap training with him or something. It never hurt, it was more just nervewracking and a little bit funny lol.

    Great video 👍🏻 I’d like to see you find a rubber boa. The African house snake isn’t a colubrid. They’re Lamprophis in the family Lamprophiidae. They’re not on our “unrestricted list” where I live, so I can’t keep them without a permit here. So ridiculous, but that’s why I had to research that.

    Retic keeper here❗ Even a *PURE ISLAND LOCALITY* retics (Madu, Kalatoa, etc.) can get *very large* compared to other, truly tiny species, let's keep it in mind! They'll need space, they'll need food... *and* even a 'small' (9-10 ft) retic can deliver quite the bite and can cause injury next to which a large ball python bite is the joke of century. They get hormonal during breeding season, they hold grudges, they'll remember if you mistreated them, many of them act very hostile toward strangers. That's a snake that can, once it reaches certain size, slice through your muscles, tendons, nerves like a hot knife through butter. In a split second. I have a dwarf female I can hold, carry around, hug, kiss, I talk to her, she roams freely around the room, she approaches me, she touches my face, she sleeps on my chair/on my nape as I work, she *takes food from my hand* as gently as a trained german shepherd while, when fed live, she goes into mad feeding frenzy (still hunts and eats right next to me or even *ON* me at times). The very same female *lashed out* at a family member without a second of hesitation... and then came back to me, coiling around my neck and arm while still very stressed and very angry. Incredible animals I'm currently addicted to, but they require a lot of work, time... and a backbone 😄

      I had the same exact experience with my Crested geckos when they were all hatchlings up to about 7 to 8 months old. Just be very patient with them. Try to only give a small amount of crusted gecko diet at night and leave them be, so you can at least see if they are actually eating it, as for the bugs they will want to hunt for them so cutting them in half probably won’t trigger a food response. As long as you see that he is gaining weight. I see nothing that you’re doing wrong. I also only feed my geckos every 2 to 3 days.

      @Trinity_Exotics years ago, we had a tropical boa and figured it out after a while of trying to mix up her diet from time to time. We'd use a fat fillet, never tried a whole fish. I believe that it's something to do with the oils in certain fish. Chicken breast would give her a translucent sheen.
