Strange isn’t it how times change. I honestly don’t remember having anything with me as a child when we’d go out. We just went out, no snacks, no water bottles, no toys. We just went out and you were expected to just behave until we got home again. Obviously if it was a day trip somewhere we’d take a packed lunch and drink but if it was just a trip to the store or dr’s or dentist we just went and then came home, no stuff required.

I'm an educator and we brought up using food for sensory. We looked at other countries/more general people who don't have food...wasteful. That we would use food for sensory and how it looked. Why not use sand...or dirt😅. Just a thought...thats all.

My autistic son had sensory integration disorder and tactile sensitivity. When he was 3, his occupational therapist filled a concrete mixing bin with lentils and buried dinosaurs in it. He would scream when he was lowered in pulling his feet up. It took 6 months to get him comfortable and he’d find the dinosaurs.
