Rant incoming.. I’ve become exhausted with WIP building its entire mission statement around literally manufacturing drama. I’ve never been that guy who hates WIP. I grew up listening to it. Whether it’s for 5 minutes or 5 hours, I’ve tuned in virtually every day for 30+ years. So I’m not approaching this from an angle of inherently disliking WIP. But between their manufactured AJ Brown drama last year or the specifics of Devonta Smith’s contract value or in this case doing everything they possibly can to drag the city and team back to where they were on January 15 2024, I’m at the point where I’m just about done with this nonsense. And before anyone tries to say WIP has always been this way, it absolutely hasn’t. Don’t get me wrong, guys like Angelo and Howard would say things that would piss people off. But the difference is what they were saying actually had some basis in reality when it comes to their own opinion. But not only do these guys just make sht up to be pissed off about, they even make up their own fkn opinions with the sole intent of coming across as pissed off. Why do they do that? Money. Here’s the thing. Do I think the Phillies will win the division? Yes. I’m confident about it and I’m not that scared of a Braves comeback. But you can’t just call a division and crown a team when there’s ~100 games left. That’s insanity. If the Phillies go a solid 15-11 in June but the Braves go 19-7 (which they’ve proven to be capable of), then guess what? They’re only 4 games back at the beginning of July. And you would never call a race over if that’s the case. June is just way too early to declare a winner. I’m not scared. Just facing the obvious facts.
