Hello, more rumblings about the Triumph. I take delivery of a new comfort seat that isn't exactly as described. The Triumph genuine centre stand is now on the bike and I have a general chat about a few other changes that I have made in advance of my little Camping trip. Hi Dave, Thanks, I hope you find something interesting in my Bimbling around. Martin doesn't live too far away from me, he lives in a very scenic area. I too fairly recently retired and the you tube thing is a bit of a hobby. Thanks for Subscribing.👍
Great video Keith. I'm glad the new springs worked out well for you. Looks like a simple modification with great benefits. Glad to see you are doing well! Stay safe!
Good to hear from you Wally. They have improved the front end. Great to see you are still here. Ride safe Mate👍
R E needs a lowering kit for this bike thousands of shorter riders are missing out ,Royal Enfield is loosing thousand of orders for this bike even at 805 still to high for many especially in Asia
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ride safe mate👍
I'm confused, Keith. Progressive is obviously a suspension company, whose springs were recommended, but you said you got Tec's version of Progressive's springs, and then promoted the video as a review of Progressive's springs. Does Tec sell Progressive springs, exactly the same, as their own product, or do they mimic spring rates, or what the heck is going on? Please enlighten me. Thank you for the video!
Hi, A progressive spring is a spring where the windings, (the spaces) get progressively shorter for a certain length of the spring. This means it reacts differently under load. Tec is a supplier there are others. It is a fair point, I was presuming that people know what they are which was wrong of me. I hope that makes sense. Ride safe, thanks for commenting.👍
Great timelapse but please drop that twangy guitar based racket.
Thanks for your thoughts. Ride safe👍
I like the music!
Really pleased to see this video Keith. As I’ve said before I changed both front and rear suspension on my previous 2004 Bonnie (Hagons) and could tell the difference with a more stable ride (although comfort wise it felt similar). I hate the front suspension on my Bud Ekins - it dips on braking at traffic lights and is terrible on some sweeping turns. Will change mine next year I think.
Hi Ian. As others have said, and you know from your own experience it's worth doing. Thanks for commenting. Ride safe 👍
Hi Keith. The progressive springs were one of the first upgrades I made on my T120, you can definitely notice the difference - far better action. Never suffered any clunking though, before or after changing them.
Hi Mate, Yes, I've just been out for a couple of hours, definite improvement, do know what the clunking is big it's virtually gone now. The seat is as an absolute game changer though. 2 hours, no sore botty. Absolutely brilliant.
Great timelapse, and im glad the springs are working out for you! Ride safe!
Ok be just been out for a couple of hours, definitely better. But maybe not on the newer ones like yours? Might already be in there. 👍
@shottostravels I don't know, they say the newer ones have a better front suspension, but I can't tell. It rides nice. I like the idea of Ohlins in the rear but I can't come up with a justifier. 😂
the best single mod. one can do. Transforms the ride and steering........ Only question is how can Triumph in all conscience can release a bike without these (ie with the original horrible front suspension)...........?
Thanks for commenting. Apparently they have sorted it on the Mk 2 version. Ride safe Mate 👍
@@shottostravels I hadn't heard that? Excellent.....now put the mainstand back!😀
Interesting that Keith 🤔 might have to consider it...or buy a top box for me tarts instead 😂
A wise man once said "You've got to have somewhere to put your stuff" Oh no, that was me!
@@shottostravels 😁
I got some uprated rear shocks for my GoldStar from tec last year at £88 Inc postage. I gave tec my not inconsiderable weight and height and they produced the shocks to those specs. I put them on setting 3 but have to admit that suspension has always been a mystery to me so it was just a guess. I feel its a big improvement but like you is this because i want it to be.
Hi Ian, funny enough ,I've got some Ikon shocks coming off flea bay that the fella assures me will be a wonderful improvement. But then, he is selling them! Let's see👍 Thanks for commenting👍
Morning Keith wouldn’t it be nice if you could do a job like that in 3-4 mins 🤣 never heard any of my front discs clunk ! On my Ducatis. New seat looks great mate like it was made for your bike. Rain here to bud with a huge thunderstorm last night, hoping it’s a clearing up storm and we get the sun back. ….. Pete 🤣
Hi Pete, it would be, it was pretty straightforward once I had the correct springs. New seat has ( at least( doubled my range before any hint of a booty ache. Looks like we are in for another crappy summer here, we are in the North West really, Wales isn't far and we always get the rain. (Going to "look" at campers today🤔)
@@shottostravels Just for a “look” 😬 worms are out of the can, 👌 let us know how you get on, 😂

@@shottostravels Recce 😊
Hi Pete, I guess, Luckily they had nothing that really started me asking myself how I could get the money together. A bit of a lucky escape there! But the stock levels they had in were through the roof. Campers and Motorhomes everywhere. This is all over at the moment. Seen a few CZcamsrs on about it. During COVID they couldn't get them and everything was list price with a long wait, We know prices just went stupid but now stock is commonplace and discounts are quite big. Thousands of list. Is there a " correction " taking place in the market? Has the bubble burst? Used prices still seem quite high though. Maybe that'll be next🤔
Great video, might have a look at doing this on my Interceptor 👍
I have been told it by two different people that it is a worthwhile investment for the Interceptor. Ride safe Mate👍

@@shottostravels don’t need to with mine, Triumph fitted progressive springs to the new speed twin from 2019 with the upgrades, it’s just the rear suspension that needs to be upgraded, it’s under sprung and under dampened 😦 not quite a cheap fix if you want to do it right 😉 but next on the list of to do 😉🤣
Shiny side up riding to you Looking forward to seeing your next video
Thanks Mate ride safe👍
Trying out a T120 this week this is worth taking note of cheers 👌👍
Indeed, don't forget that Triumph improved the suspension from 21 on. So I'm not sure if this only applies to the earlier model. 16-21. Ride safe Mate.👍 ( If you can, try a T100 too, it might surprise you!)
Another great video for Sunday morning. Shows how easy it is to DIY the springs. Just a thought, have you considered changing the oil in the forks? Some have said that a different grade of oil helps - like with the RD350 I have. Have a think 👍
Morning Richard. Thanks for your thoughts and kind words Fork oil, no, I hadn't but I reckon you're right, I guess that changing the oil would alter things. I don't think you need to do this on your newer Bonnie, Triumph did change the suspension on those. Ride safe Mate👍
I agree lovely bike , thanks
Thanks for commenting Ride safe 👍
Hi Keith, just got back from a few days away on the wee bike and catching up with videos, I do like the look of the Gunfighter seat, very nice should be just the ticket, had to chuckle at the spaghetti western music at the end very apt 😂 all the best buddy 👍
Thanks Mike, I hope you had a great wee trip. The seat is wonderful although mouth wateringly expensive new. I was very lucky to get it offered to me. The seat looks good.
Rides Great 👍
Had you had the chance to do any fishing?
Fishing? I know it's very popular but I'm sorry Mate, I couldn't think of anything worse! 👍
Hi Keith, I'm so glad you find the seat comfortable and glad you didn't tell the tale of the posting saga. Yes my T120 Bonnie was sold at the same time as I bought my 350 Classic, hence keeping the Corbin seat and putting back the original Triumph one. At the time it was a very hard thing to do parting with the Bonnie. I see you managed to fit the upgraded handlebar fastener. As mine was the T120 in black model the grey/charcoal colour of the seat was specifically chosen to highlight the black tank etc. however for me it makes the bikes look even better. These days my choices as the best looking bike has to be the R.E. 350 Classic, however at one time I would have said that the Triumph T120 looked great. BTW you should notice the difference with the Tec progressive forksprings, they were a great improvement on my Bonnie.
I cannot Thank you enough for the trouble you went to and I am loving the seat. It has truly at least doubled (or more) the distance I can ride before the aches and pains set in. It's already getting better the more I ride it, and it seems to be improving all the time. I think it looks fine but I bet it did look really good on an all black bike. The handlebar clamp is great. Tec have sent me the wrong front fork springs, I received them yesterday and they are too short but I will get that sorted soon. I have also sourced some hardly used rear Ikon ( used to be Koni) rears that the previous owner said are a big step up from the stock rear shocks. I think I may buy handlebar risers just to bring the bars back a bit as when I sit back on the seat it's just a slight stretch, not major but I think back an inch or two would be great. Thanks again for everything, enjoy your Enfield, wonderful bike. Ride safe👍
@@shottostravels Yes I fitted 3/4" risers and it made a lot of difference. But I'm only 5' - 8" on a good day, and rather overweight too. A change of tyres helped it stop the road surface tracking. But for all that the Bonnie always felt top heavy, my old BSA would outride it on the twisties. The roads around here can be difficult as you never know what's round the corner, Juan and Pedro might be stopped on their tractors nattering to each other oblivious to any other traffic that might use the roads. Or a large lorry can be on your side of the road, even wild pigs or stray dogs etc. So it's best to ride cautiously, especially on a Sunday when the idiots are about.
@bsabiker-d7z I'm a bit surprised you found it top heavy. It's not just Espana where they all come out on a Sunday. But I have to admit I have never had to dodge a pig!👍
The 800 yeah.....900 no...to modern....space invader look just like most modern bikes.
Ok, fair comment, I see what you mean Ride safe 👍

Always look forward to your videos, Keith! Corbin is one of the leading manufacturers of custom seats here in the States. Looks great on the 100! Your bum thanks you..
Hi Mate, you know it really does, it's at least doubled my range and I'm sure it's getting better the more I ride it.👍
Definitely the prettiest bike 😊 must investigate the Corbin seat 😊
Genuinely, double or treble your range and it's getting better the more I ride it. Wonderful..👍
@@shottostravels interesting 😁 I could be gone for days 😁😂😂
Hi Keith, from my memory of Corbin seats l was expecting something pretty ugly but l have to say that seat looks very nice it suits the bike really well. Hope your bum is enjoying the new comfort 😂👍
You know Mate, it's more than doubled my range and it's getting better the more I ride it. Im blown away by it. 👍
I keep telling you Keith the BSA GoldStar is not only the best looking bike but has a stock seat that is far superior and this is coming from someone who is your height and slightly heavier. I've owned an air cooled Bonnie in the past and had to put a gel seat upgrade on it, so I do love a bonnie, but that W800 and the Guzzi are also very good looking as well.
You do, but you're wrong😉 Tbh, I've never really, I mean really looked at one. You know the daftest things can put me off. I looked at a BSA in a showroom alongside Royal Enfield and my first thought was ( rightly or wrongly) that they didn't seem to be up to Enfield standards ( I know this is potentially a can of worms). Little things, like a sticker on one of the crankcases, really, a sticker! Then I thought they are brand new, untested really with not too many dealers. That was enough for me so I went for an Enfield. Tell you what, I'll see if I can sort a test ride, then I'll make more of an informed decision. Thanks for your thoughts, let's have a proper look. Ride safe👍
Those stickers are exactly like the ones from the sixties i remember putting the crossed guns on my Road Rocket, it's a nod to them being manufacturers of arms.
@@ianhalliwell8604 Yeah, I know, but stickers? Why is it not embossed, cast into the metal? Like Enfield do? It smacked to me of an afterthought and cost cutting. That was just my take on it. Who else does that? Just my thoughts at the time🤔
I think the Corbin seat looks fantastic.!! Adds just a touch of class to an already classy machine. The reason I thought my BMW "Pure" with convenventional forks was the best looking was for the heritage of the flat twin- starting in 1923. Thank God we have so many choices. I too could loose a stone or two., but at 71, not quite sure if it's going to happen. Lol. 👍👍
Same as me Mate, keep putting it off till tomorrow! The BMs a great looking bike, it's only banter. Ride safe and thanks for commenting.
I went round Vernwy on the 9th..... then carried on to Dinas Mawddwy where the brakes failed on my Duster. The offside rear linings separated from the brake shoes. I would have gone on the Bonnie T100 but I was going to do a few 4x4 trails. I managed to get the Duster home without using the brakes
Lovely area Mate, I'll have to check out Dinas Mawddwy! I hope you've sorted your brakes. Ride safe👍
I went down and around Lake Vrynwy last year in the very brief bit of summer we had, a stunning ride. The Corbin seat looks great on the bonnie, and if it cossets your bum, then it's win-win. I have the RE touring seat on my classic 350, and as someone who suffers from numb bum syndrome, I find it really comfortable.
Thanks for commenting. You know, I found the Royal Enfield Classic standard seat much more comfy than the stock triumph seat. I think I need the saddle shape as opposed to the slab of the Triumph. We've had a pretty crap week again, ( for July) I'm hoping it improves. Soon. Ride safe Mate👍
Nice one great scenery lovely bike been thinking of changing to a Triumph to go a bit lighter and lower I have a list of 3, 675 Street T100 or T120 the street being feather weight not road any as yet not even been out much since the summer has been virtually non existent .The Guzzi V7 is nice and is quite light too .My neighbor opposite has just got one in the matt black which I have yet to try since he offered , but I did notice that the black where your knees touch the tank has polished it to a shine and this would bother me if I had one to be honest lovely bike though and a much better looking engine than the BMW boxer dare I say .😉Great photo of La very young Leon .👌👍
Hi Mate, Thanks for commenting. For info, The tank isn't polished by my knees,! There are Black rubber knee grips fitted. Most Bonnies are the same. Ride em all if you can, they are not cheap and I am sure you will make the right decision as to what the right bike is for you. Happy test riding! Ride safe Mate👍

Morning keith, had a Corbin seat on my Buell sooo comfortable and Sarah said the most comfortable seat we ever had, 😊 but yes expensive, bravo to your subscriber for sending it to you, your Corbin is what I would call a king and queen seat, lovely up round you are in the video been around there a couple of times, were those sheep particularly white or is it me. My theory re sore bum syndrome on the bike is at our young age even though we pad out everywhere els the glutamass maximass ( spelling 😳) loses some of its maximass so you bum bones have less padding 😳😳😳😳😳 that’s my theory any way 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, I’m not looking at the mo, trying to be good, difficult, 🥴 …. Or a scoot of some sort could be a solution.🤔 When are you going? Let me know where you get to. I'm interested. V7 this week I think, the dealer said just wait for a decent day? But even That's becoming a big ask at the moment. As you say. Laters.
Another lovely video Keith! Cheers.
Thanks Mate, I'm really pleased you enjoyed it. Ride safe👍
Hi Keith, great vid and the seat looks wonderful 👍
Thanks Richard, I've never had one, it's weird, it is very firm but undoubtedly comfortable. 👍
you,v done well there pal , letting on a corbin seat and finding a dry day well done you
Thanks, about time we had a decent run of weather. Is it going to be a wash out this year? Hope not. Ride safe Mate👍
Great video shotto that seat looks perfectly ok on that T100 and we all know Corbin seats are very well made seats a name I’m sure everyone has heard of hope it suits you sir and what a claim to fame if your not famous enough already😂 Leon haslam what a great lad to meet and have on your Californian I like the style of them then and I do like the v7 today just beautiful Italian style I do think one of the best classics of today great video take care ride safe mate
Thanks very much, I have heard of Corbin seats but never had one. It is much better than stock. I don't really follow Road Racing, but I do remember Ron Haslam. They are from Derbyshire and Leon was helping out his dad when he didn't have racing/testing commitments at his race school at Donnington Park. He took his test so that he could help move bikes about. I seem to remember he was a really good driver but a bit quick! I have arranged a ride on a V7 for this week. That should be fun. The breaks while not startling are more than adequate.
Completely agree 👍
I agree, I have a 350 Meteor and always travel 2 up, so a bhp or two would be nice. What about you dyno test results?
Hi, they didn't get around to Dyno testing and unfortunately I have now changed to a Bonneville. I think the honest answer is if you need more power, and some might not, get something else. Ride safe Mate👍
@@shottostravels I really don't want to change the bike, I am 72 and it is an easy bike to ride. I looked at the Himalayan 450 and it has the power but feels top heavy. I can live with 20hp, but another couple would be nice
@@allanb52 I agree, it'll do anything. I'd have another in a heartbeat, I said many times that it over delivers what you expect. I'd certainly have another. Put a DNA filter on it. Gives a bit more mid range👍
I’m getting one next week , can’t wait. Had to sub , cheers from New Zealand
Wonderful, send me a picture when you get it with a wonderful New Zealand backdrop! I've actually sold mine now but I'm getting another hopefully soon Ride safe Mate👍
Beautiful bike
Thanks Mate, ride safe👍
I have noyiced a bit of tracking on my T100 with std Pirelli tyres.....but its a none event....but I am going to try the Michelin Road Classics....As fitted by Triumph now. Just about wore the front tyre out at just under 7500mls....rear has loads of meat on it. Fronts are X-plys...rear is a radial....still not found out the reason for that combination.....Triumphs are not alone in such a fitment. Yes glad youir fitting the Triumph Ctr Stand....I have one...the OOOOzzz quality.....and have a sort of axle to spread the load.....hope your frame is ok after the TEC Part. I can understand why Triumph my not fit the item.....one to keep costs down as many owners now would not dream of getting there hands dirty doing maintained.....I do all of my own....always have. I have the comfort seat....TBH.....I found the std seat fine for the use I have with the bike.....usually max 70 radius. The comfort seat is also comfy well on the miles I do. Yes the front excuses for a mudguard.....crazy.....seems to be a fasion thing....very odd....but some peple like short mud gaurds.....not for me....I hate all the crap being thrown over the rad and motor. Made my own fender extender......and reinforced the front guard.....be warned avoid drill holds in it.....can cause cracks.....Love to see your Pals lower brackets with his RE Mudguard....what a great mod. So please if you have a close up of his lower bracket please let me know..... Nick from Cheshire.
Hi Nick. Can't disagree with any of that, I did post a pic of the lower fixing, he used a simple 50mm ( I seem to remember) P clip( off eBay) It worked well. I can do 200 miles plus in a day, by then I'm crippled on the standard seat but have just 'acquired' a Corbin seat, it's like night and day. Much better. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
