Thank you so much for sharing the hard parts - so important for other runners to hear. Have you read Lauren Fleshmanâs book? Coaches need to do better with female runners
Hi Amber, Iâve been watching your videos since I was a sophmore in high school and youâve motivated and inspired me so much! Iâm a runner but I was never super good and your positive energy helped me realize that my times do not matter. I just finished my first year of college and Iâm taking some time off too to work for an environmental activist group- youâre so right that we should just do what we know we need to do and not worry about what everybody thinks we should do. Canât wait to hear what you do next - youâre amazing!
"Before you look which way to go, remember where you've been." What a sad but amazing story, I'm sure this all apart of your redemption arc. Also, you and Allie Ostrander should think about collabing and spreading the word on ED. Two great runners and inspirational leaders unite!
youâre so well spoken Amber!! I appreciate how strong you are and your efforts to shed light on the reality of eating disorders and the recovery process â€â€
You can tell sheâs got joy/ she chooses to be happy cause sheâs smiling through talking about something so terrible and hard. And her smiling seems so genuine.
You are so inspiring!! At 9:00 minutes in the video, I was like this girl is soooo strong and has pushed through so much and then there was more too!! Your message really needs to be shared!! I am going into my 9th grade year and I am the fastest girl at my jr/sr high school this has really made me scared because my coach has never taught someone going so fast so young (I am supposed to be going into 8th grade) and I'm worried I can't handle it but I keep pushing myself because I love running and I love my team but recently I have felt like the training has not helped me it has just hurt me, I know it's not the worst push of training but I might just be scared to run because I'm scared I'll fail or that I'm scared I will get injured but I feel like I need to tone down my training but it might just be out of fear and I am not sure so your story empowered me!!
keep going!
You are a very well spoken, inspirational person. đ
College coaches need to do better. So many donât care about the person only the athlete continuing to compete and itâs sick. I ended up with surgery in college because of it and so did another girl on my team. So defeating mentally and physically!
Amber, so glad you are in a better place, and you are so courageous for sharing your story about what you have been through. There is no one way that is the right way for everyone. If you decide not to make a third try on a college team, you can still pursue running and have amazing success. The most important thing is for you to be OK and healthy. You have already shown how much character you have and what an amazing person you are by helping other people as their coach, even though you were going through your own struggles. Onward and upward young lady. Be kind to yourself - you have so much to give.
Jesus loves you smđ€

Stay positive and you are so awesome
This video speaks to me so much. I'm not a college athlete but I am taking a studire program that's one of the hardest in my country and I had a terrible school year and disappointed myself with my results, I feel burnt out and shameful and guilty
what was ur 5k time?
You describe the experience of pushing through and going to any lengths to achieve a goal so succinctly. I related so much. It's impressive that with that mindset you still chose to leave the environment and take care of yourself. Thank you for sharing your story.
You are such an impressive person, really enjoyed hearing your story, God bless.
Stay strong! You've got this!
Thank you so much for this video, I became a running 7 years ago and I love it with a passion itâs my favorite thing to do, my senior year of high school I started to fall about of love for running and I been trying to find the love for it again it would really help if you can give me some advice â€
marathon!Amber... marathon.
Why do you think you were so anxious?
i hope you can watch this back and see the lack of authenticity. your expression doesn't match your emotion. you are always, always outwardly shiny even when you are miserable and lost and in a state of despair. it's okay to show what is actually going on. you are talking about wanting to share. share it vulnerably and truly. you are not addressing your present struggles. you are just smiling and saying how excited you are. but clearly you are still struggling a lot and you are still lost. you would be a better example to be vulnerable and open and not constantly put on this smiley, sugar coated positivity persona
Oh girl I know you would just thrive as a sports psychologist !! You and I have such a similar story. I want to find my passion for running again so bad. And it will come with time!!
You are such an inspiration! Thank you so much for making this video! Love youuuuu đ
Hey! As someone who really struggled through her collegiate running career (for many of the same reasons) and is still finding her way at 25, just know, you are allowed to change your path at any stage in this life!! Sending love đ p.s. have you considered psychology? I think youâd make a great sports psychologist or counselor someday. Just spitballing over here! Whatever path you take will be amazing đ€©
Totally get what you been through. I was an elite runner. The pressure was real. It took me 3yrs to recover from an injury. I still deal with the mental abuse part. I had to take medicine for the stress. You're right. You are known by your numbers! Thanks for sharingâ€
(KJV John 3:16) âFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.â (KJV Philippians 2:11) âAnd that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.â (KJV John 3:17) âFor God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.â (KJV John 3:18) âHe that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.â (KJV Romans 10:9-11) âThat if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.â (KJV Ephesians 2:8-10) âFor by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.â (KJV Titus 3:5-7) âNot by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.â (KJV Romans 6:23) âFor the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.â (KJV Galatians 5:22-25) âBut the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.â (KJV Matt 7 : 13-14) âEnter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.â (KJV Matthew 7:17-18) âEven so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.â (KJV Matthew 7:19-20) âEvery tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.â (KJV Psalm 111:10) âThe fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.â (KJV Proverbs 29:25) âThe fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.â (KJV Isaiah 7:15) âButter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.â (KJV Ezekiel 18:26-27) âWhen a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die. Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.â (KJV Revelation 2:10) âFear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.â I wish you success with all your running endeavors Amber. That's great that you are enjoying coaching running these days. I enjoy running about a half mile per day.
I don't understand this philosophy college coaches have that more is better. All you get is burnt out athletes who often are hurt. I like to think that the "Parker Valby" training will pick up a lot of steam. She runs twice a week, the other days she's on the eliptical/arc trainer or running in a swimming pool. Low impact stuff. Athletes are humans, not animals. Thank you for sharing your story.
I think if you are not sure what to study at college choose one thing even though it may not be the best and go through it as any qualification is generally needed to progress into some sort of work. Just go for the easiest study subject you can do. Get the qualification and take it from there.
Good luck with your coaching and your other goals Amber. Love your positive attitude. I didn't discover running until my late 30's but I'm so glad I did as life hasn't been that kind to me in recent years and running has certainly helped me get through some tough times.
I can resonate with this a lot - hearing you relay your trauma - I want you to know that I went through that toxic culture vibe in 2022- after getting an injury due to RED-S that got ignored. I want you to know that I have already found about 80% of the peace that I need to - and my mental health is getting better. I felt so frail and so weak - and now I am slowly coming out of that - just know your self-worth isn't tied to your performance, you are a perfect person as you are by just existing. Also validate your sad thoughts. You've got this! <3
Amber - I wish you would talk to Katelyn Tuohy. She could benefit from your perspective and personal experiences greatly. Good luck to you! You have a wonderful message and story. You're going to be fine.
Good job for focusing on your recovery! Coaching is a really good thing for you to do. Glad you are finally back on here and feeling better.
So sorry to hear about your negative experience. My daughter is a runner (beginning HS) and your sharing your experiences will help me, her mother, and her navigate these struggles when she faces them or faces similar ones. Thank you for sharing, and we're cheering for you-not just as a runner (for fun or otherwise), but as a person as well! You're awesome Amber!
i appreciate this so much!! iâm sending you and your daughter so much love!!!
thank you for sharing your story amber, however hard it mightâve been. a lot of runners including myself have type-A, stop-at-nothing personalities that run us into the ground sometimes. look at your past self with grace; if youâre ever upset with how you handled things, remember you got yourself out of it. you are one strong girl â€ïžâ€ïž
Im so glad you made your struggles public and how dealt with them, you're a hero and a champion đȘđ
Wow, Amber! This was absolutely amazing and incredibly inspiring. Watching you share your passion for running has truly ignited a newfound love for it in me. More than that, you've taught me so much about the importance of mental health and how running can be such a powerful tool for our well-being. I'm so excited to have you as my coach and to learn from someone as dedicated and insightful as you are. Keep shining bright and motivating others with your positivity and wisdom! Looking forward to more videos from you and KEEP GOING! đ€©
Hi Amber! We chatted at your mom's birthday party as well as at a couple of the Track Shack races! Your video brought back many memories of my college experience where I had to pivot my first year because reality didn't meet expectations. I would love to chat with you at the upcoming Track Shack races (maybe share in warm up and cool down miles?) and share some personal struggles I have. You are so much like your mom in your demeanor! The idea I have is we can be encouraging towards one another both in running and life! Stay positive! Keep smiling! They're contagious! Also, I'm absolutely cheering for you in life and sport!
gosh this was so sweet thank you SO MUCH!! i would absolutely love to chat with you more and have loved our conversations.đđŒââïžđđŒđđŒ supporting you always and so grateful to have you supporting me:))
@@amberschulz525 so kind just like your mom! Congratulations on your recent race win and sub 18! Looks like you're making fantastic progress!
†Proud of you
Me too I scored 3rd place in the state of California hve u heard of birmingham high skool we beat every high skools aroun los angeles.

Amber, this is the best I've ever seen you. You radiate!
YOU ARE A STARâ€
Remind my college running journeyăăMy coach always says all about your mental and physical health. If you not there personally you not able to do well. When I was injured my coach was focus on my recovery and I was mentally not there. He also able to listen to me. He just great coach to have. Also push me to do well too. I miss him a lot. I was able to help guide other team member do well with the sport. I am so happy you doing better and finding an avenue for yourself.
Your club coach is right, you should be a coach. And Itâs great youâre giving the coach credit on your communication skills too - coach sounds great. Your communication skills are great and you have a lot of stories to tell. Since youâre not sure what you want to do yet, and even before you shared that youâll be coaching, I wanted to share that you should look into being a motivational speaker. I can see you touring schools and sharing your experiences. Great job so far!
Youâre so brave Amber and I am in a similar place walking about from running as a collegiate athlete. Hearing you, I feel so seen. Wishing us both more strong moments â€
you are amazing and so strong, proud of you†thank you for sharing your story
I related so hard to your first year of college. Luckily I had great coaches and trainers, but there was still the expectation of performing at a high level even while dealing with injuries. I severely sprained my ankle right before nationals (like the day we left for nationals) and I still ran because we didnât have an alternate. I still would have ran because thatâs who am I, but looking back, my injury wouldnât have taken months to heal. Because I kept running on it and we would just tape it up every day. I also have shin splints, which is the common injury for runners, so I was just put on the same regiment as everyone else for that.
