Trying to start the Tin Top Suzuki Samurai
Had a little free time so I decided to see if I could get the 2.0 in my latest Suzuki Samurai project to fire up. Made a couple different attempts but I think I may be missing the correct starter to make everything work together.

Suzuki Samurai mesh bikini top

Tried getting a bikini top for my Samurai and it didn't work out. A friend of mine suggested I try the mesh top he just got for his jeep. Turns out I was able to make that work and it is great.

Fixing why Suzuki Samurai door handles break

I recently broke.the door handle on my White Samurai. Speaking with Brian from Ultra 4 Suzuki Samurai he pointed me to his video that showed how to cure this issue. His advice worked so I am sharing it.
Adding a Tin Top Suzuki Samurai to the fleet
zhlédnutí 165Před měsícem
Went out and picked up another Suzuki. This tin top Samurai has all the stuff I need in order to get my Stretched Samurai going but the problem is I'm not so sure I want to take this rig apart.
Changing a water pump on a Suzuki Sidekick while out camping
zhlédnutí 198Před měsícem
Invited the family out to our property for the memorial day weekend and while my brother was loading up his Sidekick he noticed it was leaking water so on the way down he purchased a water pump. By the time he reached the property his Sidekick had lost alot of water so before we went exploring we decided to swap out the pump.
Working on the Geo Tracker trying to make it to Zukicon 2024
zhlédnutí 230Před měsícem
Alot of things needed fixed on my Geo Tracker in order to be ready for Zukicon 2024. I would have made it but unfortunately when we removed the body lift we lowered the body down and clipped the radiator with the hood latch.
Replacing the throttle cable on a Suzuki Samurai
zhlédnutí 118Před měsícem
A couple days ago while driving home from work the throttle on my Samurai got stuck wide open. I pulled over.and tried to fix it but it turned out the cable would not release. I ordered a replacement cable for Trail Tough and here is how I installed it.
I broke the Geo Tracker while out wheeling at Jones Creek
zhlédnutí 193Před 2 měsíci
After the rest of the Suzuki group headed out from Jones Creek we went ahead and wheeled some more. While heading up a long hill climb I almost rolled the Trash Panda backwards. I got the rig stuck in a hole on the hill and broke a rear U joint. The next 6 hrs were one heck of an adventure that probably also cost me a transfer case also.
Wheeling with some Suzuki Samurais at Jones Creek
zhlédnutí 244Před 2 měsíci
The call went out on social media to meet up and wheel the Jones Creek OHV area in Washington. We had a hand full of Suzukis show up and we had a great day. The weather just rained and rained. My newly installed fender flares did a great job.

Will 235/75/15 tires fit on a Suzuki Samurai
zhlédnutí 367Před 2 měsíci
I have heard that you can fit 235/75/15 tires under a stock Suzuki Samurai so since I have one I decided to try. There is a little bit of hammering and cutting involved but I think it will work.
Took the Purple X-90 wheeling since my daughter was in town for a visit
zhlédnutí 317Před 3 měsíci
Claire was home for week visiting from New Hampshire and mentioned that she would like to take her Suzuki X-90 out to the woods. Just her and I headed up to Browns Camp on a Tuesday morning and had the place pretty much to ourselves. The trails have changed since she last saw them and she was surprised at how things look.
Replacing the fuel pump on a Suzuki Samurai
zhlédnutí 977Před 3 měsíci
The fuel pump on my Suzuki Samurai was dumping out oil so it needed replacing. Turns out the one made by import direct did not fit correctly so I had to use a napa brand. Also it is very important to insert the pump as level as possible to make sure everything lines up.
Putting bedliner on the inside of the Suzuki Samurai

Found some clearance marked bedliner at the store so I decided to give it a try. Had to patch up some rust holes in the floor first and remove the factory floor covering but I think it turned out well.

interesting. cant wait to see what happens :)
My plans for this rig seem to change everyday.
Could you post a link where you got the brackets for everything?
All my brackets were made by the guy who I helped with the suspension. I did do a video about so.e of the stuff I purchased but most things he fabricated for the Geo Tracker
Thanks for the vid, I swapped mine and it seems to have similar issue. What’s the process of adding a relay to my ignition switch?
Contact me on Instagram if you need better instruction but it's basically power from battery to relay. Small power line off blade on starter to relay. Ground from relay to ground. Small power wire from relay to blade on starter.
Doug, that slot that your asking about is where the factory soft top mounts. the front has a "lip" slides into it.
It needs the FLAG!!! that would be sick :) Looks great!
Or the big Suzuki "S"
so the 3 cables that goes to the starter are the one that has a boot , the one that just insert it, and the other one where it go? the green/white ?
Only 2 wires to thw starter. The positive wire that has a boot. The small ignition wire that slides onto the blade. The wire coming off the 2nd bolt on the syliniod goes to the body of the starter. The negative cable goes on the transmission side of the top nut and bolt that holds the starter in.
Jeep top worked lol
I concur, O'reilly fuel pump does not fit. Good video. Thanks.
Hopefully others will find out before they spend the money on a pump that won't work.
holy cow!!!
Looks good bro
Thank you. They turned out OK. Best is that they do actually keep the mud off my windows
Hey, I’ve got this same problem with both of mine. Where can I get the motors for them and are they car specific?
Pretty sure I mentioned it in the video but I think it is a toyota corolla motor. You can get from any parts store. Just remember to get the opposite side for what you need.
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 cool, thank you.
Tome su like buen hombre!
Hopefully this video helps people
My oil pan rusted through. NOT THE FONT MAIN SEAL, LIKE I INITIALLY THOUGHT
Well nuts. That sucks alot.
Yo big bro whats up been meaning to inform you about a gov software and app called atak it's a group mission app abuse it off road to track other member and ppl in the convoy tells you location speed elevation everything you can name member of you group you can chat use radios and all I use it with the meshtastic plugin and the ham radio plug in on a cheap tablet it's great you should look it up you can map trails and send them to each other and mark hazard from inside your rig works all over the world it's satellite guided as darcas gps and images let me know if anything and keep doing your thing
Hey man! Do you have any idea where I can get a 5.6 or 5.8 ring and pinion gear for the Vitara?
Nope. Sorry. Don't know much about that generation
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 Its the same generation as the geo tracker. :) Thanks however. :D
Oh. Sorry. Here they don't get called the vitara until the 2nd generation. They are all sidekicks or trackers in the first gen. I do not know where to get gearing that tall. We just use the 5.12 from the 5spd rigs.
How many quarts of. WHAT kind of atf did it take ?
I just use the cheap DEX/MERC usually from Walmart. I can't remember how much.
If I was you I would see if I was told the truth and get the tinny running! After that make my choice. If it runs and drives, fix up what you want to suit you and run it. If not then the choices get harder and more work is on the horizon which might make you think that doing a HUGE rebuild of stretch and putting all that in there and getting to work in that one is “the way to go”. But in truth you do what makes you happy and we are here to watch win or lose we are here for it!! Good luck!
Thanks for the support. I agree. First thing we need to do is get it running.
Your as bad as me 😂😂😂
Keep buying all the samurais bro 🤣🤘😎
I want to eventually just have one but it's so much cheaper to buy someone else's project than it is to build one.
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 right? Haha
Can I ask you what you paid for that Suzuki? I have a 1997 4 door side kick that I am thinking about selling. I have been doing a lot of cosmetic work on this sidekick and I do believe it is pretty much stock. I live on the Oregon coast so please let me know if you know of anyone that would be interested.
The 4 door market isn't that great right now. I think Randy Gibbs in Tacoma is sitting on 3 he is unable to sell. I paid 3500 for the samurai.
My 96 tracker is having shifting problems as well. Before I change the fluid and filter I wanted to rule out my vacuum modulator hose. At the moment mine is not hooked up to anything. Does yours connect somewhere on the intake manifold to maintain a vacuum?
Mine connects to a small brown plastic plug on the intake near where the throttle hooks up
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 you're the man. Saved me a headache.
Glad I could help.
I also have a geo tracker that's been solid axle swapped and yours looks pretty similar to mine in the way there built.
How do you like yours? I am really happy with what I did to mine.
I think it looks pretty damn good
Thank you. Best part is they work for what I wanted. Wheeled on a rainy day and the windows didn't get covered in mud.
Smart to carry a few parts. Water pump, fuel pump, PS lines, filters, fluids, tire plugs, small compressor, inverter and small welder etc. Saved me quite a few times.
Never thought about the welder but actually flux machines are so small now days. Just wonder about powering it. Maybe I'll plug mine into my goal zero and see what happens
Nice save... pretty lucky to have scored a water pump just in case. Does Paul's Sidekick have a 2" budget lift and a 2" body lift. I can see how the breather box has to flex to reach the plenum. He needs a winch bumper...
Yep 2 and 2 lift. I agree he needs a winch bumper. He already jas a winch.
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 working on a 2dr design for a guy in Missouri at the moment, if it works I will let you know.
He's gonna need something that works with the body lift.
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 I have already designed it. how much room does he need for his winch?
@tufftrails I will let.him know what we are thinking and have him get some information
Extreme trail fix lol!
Good thing he thought ahead and grabbed the pump on his way out of town.
Sorry about the bad luck with the radiator.! I would LOVE to meet up at Browns Camp and hit some trails with yeah.! PLEASE let me know.
Contact me on Instagram or Facebook and we will stay in touch. Trying to get a shakedown run in next weekend
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 FIRST- Happy Fathers Day Do you think this Saturday will work to hit Browns Camp? Weather looks CRAZY good?
Either this one or next. Need to get a shakedown run in.
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 I’m going up this coming Saturday and should Be up there about 8:30/9 if you want to get group for a shakedown run in? Or we can just meet up and get one in for ya?? I can be there earlier if that’s better for your schedule, just putting a time out there?
Upgrade to g16b engine for more power. Big fan from philippines😊. I got 4 doors suzuki vitara
Wife and I have just been talking about a motor swap for this rig. It is the only.one I have with the little 8 valve engine.
Incredible work! Hope you get to enjoy
Eventually the radiator will get here and we can take it.for a shakedown run
Loved this one… ❤
Thanks. Wish I would have done more filming of the actual work but I was super focused on trying to get it finished.
if it is a 2003 it is not a Geo tracker.
When it switched over to the 2nd generation geo was no longer a brand and it became the Chevrolet Tracker. Similar to what toyota did with sion a couple years ago.
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 Exactly, but you refered to it as a GEO. That is the same as calling a RAM truck a Dodge.
I always call it a Dodge Ram truck. 😊
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 I do also. But nowhere on that RAM is the word Dodge
Awesome video! I just picked up my first sidekick. Did you regear to account for the bigger tires?
Not on this one but there are rehearing videos on my channel that I have done to other rigs. Check out my video list and it will answer alot of questions. Feel free to reach out if you have other questions.

Thanks I will take a look. Problem I found with offer up is old stuff never gets removed
No traía dos arandelas? Dos para cada tornillo,o no hace falta, gracias un saludo.
Yes. There should be a washer for each side of the fuel hose that goes on the bolt
Glad you made it out safely!
Thanks. That's definitely the good part of the story. Nobody got hurt.
Dang what a day. Looked like an awesome time before the incident...
Had a great day. The broken parts sucks but still had a great day.
You did nothing
Sure felt like it. Turns out it was a bad ignition
Glad to see the panda out!! How is the 2.3?
It had a bad head gasket and since then the block has locked up. Looking to go back to the 2.0 for the overland build hopefully soon.
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 sorry to hear. Still an incredible effort
Finally get to see Ian's sami in action
That thing is definitely built. Hopefully he gets the engine issue resolved.
Wow, didnt know they put in a new parking area
Not sure why it had all the rock islands in it but it wasn't crowded so not a big deal.
some interesting rigs for sure!
Always great to see how other people build them up.
A well deserved break from wrenching to get out for a while and flex some springs. Nasty muddy rainy weather...perfect conditions for a day on the trail. Trash Panda did awesome...
Forgot to ask.... did your fender flares help with the mud splatter??
Oh ya. Was able to see out the windows all day.
Im interested in going jones creek is it camping area's
I would imagine you can do some dispersed camping but not 100% sure. I do know you will need a Washington discovery pass.
There are a couple campgrounds nearby
I just went to replace my heater core for my Geo Tracker, and got a great deal for one for a Sidekick. Turns out that, with everything apart, the Sidekick core is larger than the Tracker. Where did you get yours??
I get most of my parts from O'Reilly. Alot of the stuff has a life time warranty.
Looks super good!
Thank you. They actually work too. Hopefully next week's video will be a wheeling adventure.
Awsome job
Turbo can paint brother. You will love it!!!!
For the longest time I could not remember where I know you from...it was welding class! Yeah we both took the same welding classes and we are so good at melting metal. LOL I can't weld very good at all. "Thanks for the Mention" Those fenders came out awesome, such a great idea and a solution for all the mud slinging. They really look good on there. Way better than it did....I think that's a homerun!
Ya. I can definitely stick metal together but I can not weld.😀😁
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 Same here, I think my issue is patients...if I could slow down I might improve some day.
I just got to do it more often and probably some better equipment wouldn't hurt. Running an old Chicago electric 220 welder and flux wire.
Those are aftermarket JK fender flares.
Thanks. I knew they went to a jeep but wasn't sure what type. Figured I could make them work for only 10.
Great video
Thanks
