The lack of money during the 1930's was not due to people saving money and refusing to spend. The banks and government removed the money from circulation. Gold was confiscated because it was a common currency of the time. Without money, companies could not hire people to work. Without money people could not buy products of the companies.

Good but flawed. Rich people own assets. Even if they leave they have to sell off their non-movable assets, like property, land and businesses. We can tax those assets to generate far more revenue. If you look at the gap between rich and poor it's gotten much wider, indicating the rich are getting far richer. We can address that and we have to or we all suffer. Ask yourself, why does this 'rich' person think the problem is the government? Because he doesn't want you to realise that it's actually the rich who are the problem.

The US has the signs of a late stage empire. A corrupt and lethargic gerontocracy obsessed with saying whatever has to be said to win elections and stay in power and an inebriated, clueless population and knee jerk reactions against what are not entirely pain-free but the least painful reforms that could be made that would avert greater pain. Case in point is social security. America is not just Rome, its also Babylon and is drowning itself in decadence and immorality. No serious discussion can be had about the debt without talk of a major overhaul to social security retirement and also massive re-incentivization of the young adults to have larger families. The main cause of all of Americas problems is NOT THE FED. I actually think the fed is a red herring by those who want to distract people from the real causes which are the leftists in Congress and especially pensions and social security retirement which are the biggest cause for the collapsed birth rate, with second biggest being colleges, and therefore the exploding federal debt and collapse due to the combination of the demographic collapse and unsusustainable unfunded liabilities. Social Security Retirement created a lethargic and decadent attitude among Americans that you no longer need to have children because Uncle Sam was going to take care of you, and based on the Money Fairy Fallacy that somehow the government makes money appear out of nothing and use it to fund all of these wonderful programs without any ill effect. As we know, you cant get something for nothing, so all money created and spent is taken back by inflation in a way that actually makes average people worse off than before. Hence in presidential debates if you dont support the critical "lifeline" programs for largely wealthy seniors paid for by taxes by broke gen-zers you are a monstrous brute. The outrageous thing is the media and the gerontocracy actually tries to make people dumber so they can keep supporting things destroying the country. To really solve the countries problems we need to incentivize tthe gen-zers to have far more children through free-at-use day care, big per child tax cuts, and affordable housing for families, and require adult children to pay their FICA tax to investments in an IRA with their parents as the beneficiary and can be later inherited and in second and third generations and beyond also help pay for child care, I am sorry but people have to have children to be able to retire because your children will fuind your retirement which anyway with social security retirement people have to have children anyway or the program goes insolvent but by not creating a requirement for it you create a moral hazard that leads to collapse. The visceral and violent protests you hear against making these changes just highlights what is causing our economic collapse and it is something for nothing ideology of social security retirement an the fact the program is a program for people who abort their own children to have someone elses children pay for their retirement. Listen to the responses you get to the fact if you want to retire you must have children to pay into your retirement fund and it proves the point that its a program for people who want to abort their own children and have other peoples kids to pay for their retirement
