    Greetings! I see videos explaining how to install the loops but I don't see videos explaining the device or the software that calculates the speed and how this calculation is done. .I would like to know, to calculate the speed, from the signal sent by the central of inductive loops, is it used a microcontroller or is there a software for PC!? I will be grateful if you can give back..

    13 jan 2020 1:46 pm est:traffic-light-with-car-presence-detector makes variable-green-light-time-duration, should be publicised so car-driver can be prepared and decrease brake-pad-lining-milimeter-wasting. non-descript traffic-light-with-car-presence-detector-without-count-down-timer, can make car-driver brake-hard degrading brake-pad-lining-milimeter a lot. 25 feb 2020 6:21 pm est: is this possible ? make traffic-light know whether there is approaching-car or not from minimum-distance around 1/2 mile. if there is approaching-car from minimum-distance around 1/2 mile then restart green-light-countdown-timer for n second. n second is time-duration needed for approaching-car to pass traffic-light with speed 20 mph. if there is no approaching-car then traffic-light is free to show red-light to allow car from other intersection-direction pass. so probability of : hard-braking and brake-pad-thickness-degradation, decrease.

    Is there a time stamp of each event? I want to calculate the delay of the bus, arrival time at the intersection minus the departure time at the intersection. I was thinking that the arrival time would be an eastbound vehicle swipe and the departure time would be a westbound vehicle swipe, then the data would go into excel where the actual delay time can be calculated.

    somebody must be getting a lot of kickbacks from these loop detectors; green wave or synchronized traffic coordination for smooth flow control is so much better, simpler, and makes more sense, but common sense is not that common these days anymore

    Hi Gary, With my slip lane layout, pedestrians cross LT and RT lanes where they cross (3 phases) so pedestrians cross shorter distances than conventional intersections. Examples are at quicksafeintersections.com and the phasing is in the last slide of the "Flow" subject. Each turn movement is individually timed and I have used fixed times. But the controller needs to allow for pedestrian presence detectors and shorten or extend the pedestrian times as required. Great series thank you.

  • @johncleeland5745
    @johncleeland5745 Před 10 lety

    Hi Gary, coordination is usually with double cycling when matching 2 phase cfi with 4 phase conventional. Sidra provided the timing splits for the main intersection and the crossovers for example, a 39/21seconds split at the main intersection and a 46/14 at the crossover. But 14 seconds (less 6 intergreen) leaves 8 seconds (4 cars) per lane for the turners so I need 4 lanes crossing over in a dual-tandem arrangement to ensure that the crossover does not become critical. I then link the cross-overs at the speed limit with the extra time giving those that have just turned time to clear early. the thru traffic can then proceed in a green wave. Another consideration for spacing is the green phase queue length for all lanes so that they are fully using the green time. Regards

    If you ride a motor cycle or bicycle and want to increase the chances you are detected by a loop, stop your bike over the long, loop edges (rather than the middle). The loop is most sensitive here, and you should see a big improvement in being detected. Otherwise, call the signal maintaining agency. They may be able to increase the loop sensitivity in the amplifier or provide a non-intrusive detection method (e.g. video or microwave).

    How deep is the saw cut for the loop wire? If a loop detector is installed in a parking garage slab for a gate, is the saw cut likely to be deep enough to damage the reinforcing in the slab? Or is the cut shallow enough to avoid hitting any rebar (less than 3/4" deep)?
