Hello, welcome to my journey in the outdoors.
You’re going to see a lot of beautiful scenery within the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia. It’s the perfect playground for living the outdoor lifestyle and enjoying the little things in life.
A lot of the time, the Polaris RZR will be cruising around, splashing through water, and leaving a trail of dust on its way to the mountaintops.
Other times, the kayak will be floating around and taking in the mellow side of the lakes at the valley bottom.
In both cases you’ll see a lot of beautiful Canadian scenery and hopefully be inspired to get outside wherever you may be.

Relaxing in the Kayak on Lake Koocanusa
Have you ever had one of those days where you just need to step back, recharge, and refocus your energy? The kayak is great for that!
Today I'm going for a short paddle on Lake Kookanusa right beside the Bailey Bridge. The way er level is still rising and the little island looking thing hasn't been submerged so it's time for a quick lap.
Getting in the kayak is always a great way to relax and unwind.

Hey buddy what kind of mud flaps or dust flaps you’re using I have a front window back window still spits dust in real bad do those help you with that thanks ?
The fender flares are from Mud Busters and I love them. They stop so much mud and water from getting tossed in the side of the RZR. I did an install video a while back and they are a breeze to install. (czcams.com/video/YVqL0kJa7qI/video.html) I still need to get a rear window to help with the dust swirling in. It's basically next on my list but I haven't picked one up yet. The fender flares don't have any impact on that though.
@@NorthernMapleOutdoors perfect thank you. Do you still get tons of dust in I have front back window still piles in I’m thinking it’s from need those mud flaps anything would help thanks buddy
@MANIACAL604 Yeah I get loads of dust swirling in without the rear window. I know a few people who saw a big improvement with the dust after adding the rear window.
@@NorthernMapleOutdoors I do have the front glass and back plastic window dust still comes in just got told from my buddy to get there check them out
@MANIACAL604 Ah, I get it now. If you get some flares let me know if they help out.
Just picked one up yesterday 2023 ultimate had great deal from 5 star Motorsports let’s rip
Sweet. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
@@NorthernMapleOutdoors thanks buddy. Have u had any issues just used it once so far heading out Tom again deff a fun machine
The only issue was a faulty switch that detected both the brake and the accelerator being pressed at the same time. It caused the machine to power down and threw an error code. I can’t remember exactly what it was. The dealer fixed it no charge. Other than that it’s been clear sailing.
@@NorthernMapleOutdoors perfect thanks buddy appreciate it god bless and have a good summer
Hello, Are you interested in testing our products? We would like to invite you to test the Grab Handle Drink Cup Holder for your Polaris RZR Trail S 1000 Ultimate (if your car year is 2021-2022
what you using for straps
I have an automotive axle strap through the rim and a 3,000 pound strap to the trailer.
Hello, I live very near Grand Forks BC in Washington state. I have a 2023 RZR Trail 900 Ultimate. I have made about 15,000 miles in our local forest. We have some great riding here, ghost towns, gold mines, and spectacular territorial views. If you want to ride here, I will serve as your personal guide. I like to make 75 to 100 per day, no hero stuff, no dangerous stuff.
Where in the Skook us Wenger Pass?
We set off from the pulp mill and it was near the end of a loop by the Fire Tower and Copper Lake. I don't remember the exact location as it was my first ride in the area but it would be a little West and North of the pulp mill. I was with the Kootenay Rockies ATV Club and sometimes they'll post full GPS routes on their Facebook page.
Check out the full ride to the North York Plane Crash Memorial Site: czcams.com/video/8FID75_ja_E/video.html
I have that same machine…wondering about your fender flares/ mudflaps…looking to buy/make something similar. We’re there purchased somewhere?
I love these fender flares. I did a full install video if you're into that (czcams.com/video/YVqL0kJa7qI/video.html). They're made by Mud Busters (mud-busters.com).
its not abandoned......it was jacked up to get a replacement tire by the owners....leave it alone
My buddy did something like that just before we got to the place where we were heading to found a dealer and changed the key Ignition now
Yeah, it happens.
Hello is that rzr 60 or50 in in back of pick up? Causes I was going to do the same I have 22rzr 1000s trail
That RZR is a 60 inch 2023 Trail S Ultimate. The truck is a fairly new Dodge Ram, not sure of the exact year. Good bed measurements will be your friend.
Does a Trail flip also as easy as it's bigger brothers?
I can't speak to that. I've never felt like the Trail S was anywhere close to flipping over. It always feels very stable to me.
What front bumper do u have?
It's the High Coverage Bumper from Polaris.
Do you have a link for these also how do you support the tailgate i have same machine and a 2012 f150
They are Mad-Ramps and you can find more information at madramps dot com. The tailgate doesn't actually support the weight of the machine. It sits on the ramps with the wheels pressed against the end of the tailgate. I have another video releasing tomorrow that's taken from the side which will show this a little better. The truck is a relatively new Ram but I don't know the exact year. You can hear the tires rub right at the tailgate where it's a bit narrower than the rest of the bed. PS: I like your RZR videos. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I do.
Great video. Does it have a turf mode? I have a polaris ace 570 that just tears up the grass when turning because of the locked differential.
No, it does not have a turf mode. The spot where I usually load/unload get pretty chewed up on the regular. In addition, I have driven it into the yard a couple of times and tried to to take long wide turns but I still tore up a few places. I'm not sure how it would compare to your current machine though.
Put your speedo and tac readings on pic-in-pic... more entertaining. And why are you going so slow - do you know what this machine is capable of?
I've thought about it, even tried it a couple times, but didn't sort anything I liked. Speed was not the goal on that evening. I was just out for cruise to end the day.
🇨🇦/🇺🇸... I wonder how long it will take them to add removal of the selfie stick SHADOW to the AI's editing.
Now that would be a really cool trick.
🇨🇦/🇺🇸... hmmm... I haven't tried this yet but I was thinking earlier that the if you dangled your car keys from the same hand as that is holding the selfie stick, it may make a good prop that gives a REASON that your hand location looks different. Also, women could use holding a purse make the selfie stick hand not swinging as you walk, a little more natural. (gonna have to go try this now!) 😃
I've thought about mounting through a coffee cup or pop can and things like that. I haven't tried though. It makes me wonder if having more moving bits at the hand would cause the AI some hassle. I have stuck it out under the armpit while drinking a soda with the close hand.
Thank you for sharing 🤗🙏🇺🇲
The site of the 1946 North York Plane Crash is an interesting experience. For more information: www.albertaparks.ca/parks/south/castle-wpp/information-facilities/trail-report/north-york-creek-plane-crash/
Enjoy watching your vids. If l could make a safety suggestion it would be to either find a different place for your spade shovel or but the spade side down on the floor and the handle facing up. If your seat belt failed during a roll-over it could be deadly. Can't wait for more beautiful adventures!!
I totally agree, that definitely wasn't my best decision of the day. Thanks for pointing it out. I tried a few locations but went with that as my least bad option. It was definitely safety third that morning. Taking this shovel was a last minute addition. I tried to mount it out back but couldn't get it secured. I settled on the passenger handle since nobody was sitting there. I initially had it strapped spade down but didn't want to damage the floor so I settled with spade up. The group requested extra shovels that day anticipating a lot of slide debris on the trails. I keep a small collapsable shovel in the back, but figured a full size shovel would be better on my back if we wound up digging a lot.
I didn't want to be a Karen lol, l know there's a lot time spent editing and recording your adventures, only to have someone be negative. That was not my intention. Love your install vids and your adventures. Hopefully you'll be posting another video soon now that spring is around the corner here in 🇨🇦. Here in the Maritime's we are starting to get alot of days that are in the single digits above zero now. Happy trailing Sir
No worries, your comment was taken in the spirit it was given. I'm actually near the end of editing a ride from last fall. It should have been done a long time ago but I kind of went flat over the winter. I also have a few interesting bits that didn't make it into a video so I may get a few Shorts put together. Time will tell. Glad to have you around.
You making any videos or uploading soon?
Yeah, I kind of fell flat on my face over winter. I have one video mostly rough edited but it still has a fair bit to go. Lots of ideas for next season though, can't wait to get the RZR back on the trail.
I could drive my Ranger on this trail. I think the Rzr can tackle much more extreme conditions. Just saying.
Yep, no disagreement from me. This was just a chance to head out for a quick spin in the RZR after dinner in the middle of the week.
I got myself the 2019 2xpt love it, little over 3k on stock belt Very curious about the trail s and just subscribed keep the videos coming
Sweet! Glad to have you around. I forgot to record my odometer before winter but I did about 1,000k my first season and likely about the same this season.
PS: That's a nice looking photo of your RZR. Good stuff.
We have to climb a fairly steep hill. Does it have the torque I would need? Great video.
I've climbed some pretty steep hills without any trouble. It would always depend on the hill I suppose. Lately I've been running tire pressures of 12 lbs front and 14 lbs rear and I get a loads of traction with the stock tires.
On a related note. The Trail S Ultimate has very good hill descent control. It will keep your speed as low as it can with minimal brakes and sometimes no brakes. I've been impressed by it.
Does the trail s Ultimate have sport mode?
No, there are no selectable drive modes on the Trail S Ultimate. You can choose 2WD or 4WD and then decide whether you're going to smash the pedal to the floor or take it easy.
I think these Kemimoto Mirrors look great on the RZR. Take a look at the Kemimoto web site (kemimoto.com) to see which accessories will work best with your side by side.
Love the video Mike, I was confused reading the directions too.
Yeah, I tend to skim instructions. Overall the install is easy to figure out.
Mike, do what I do, add your SxS key to your tow vehicle key. This way you never lose them while riding, or leaving it behind.
Funny enough, I did exactly that as a back up when I came home Sunday. Even funnier (sort of), I went for a ride Monday to make up for the missed ride and forgot the keys again. Luckily the back ups saved me this time.
@Mike Dumfries great video! What part of Lake Koocanusa is this? Where did you launch from, and where is the best/most scenic place to launch from? I'm headed up there in a few days to SUP.
Glad you liked it. You'll likely find a place to drop in wherever you camp. There's a good spot on the East side of the bridge. It's typically too shallow for power boats and you'll see a bunch of paddlers most days. Way down South by Sandy Shores Beach is a good place too. The East side of the lake has shade in the morning and the West side of the lake has shade in the evening. Either way you'll likely want to stay away from the middle of the lake when all the power boats are pedal to the metal.
Love the video Mike, if there are some gaps in your install, we always recommend that you can bend them more (don't worry they won't break) to fit into those bends a bit better. But those look super nice on your Trail S!
Thanks for the tip. I think they look great and I'm looking forward splashing around and giving them a good workout.
I saw a couple of videos where they do what you did and needed more washers. Does a better job.
Good to know. I'll run it like this for a bit and seen how everything shakes out. It's easy enough to put on more washers if I need them.
I put a set a few months back on my Trail S Ultimate. I found it was a must. Way too much mud and water coming in the cab. I got new side mirrors, new wheels and 30" Efx motoclaw tires (they run small which was fine) and a Tusk half windshield for the hotter summer season. Hope you enjoy the flares!
Nice, sounds like a good setup. I also have a full and a half windshield to swap as needed. These flares should keep the mud down which will be good.
@@NorthernMapleOutdoors they help a lot, maybe not 100%, but a huge difference. You'll like them.
I'm really looking forward to testing them out with some proper splashing around.
I think these MudBusters fender flares look great on the RZR. Take a look at the MudBusters web site (mud-busters.com) to see if they make flares for your side by side.
thank u so much mike for tutor
Glad you found it useful.
Did you come across the burn scar from the 2020 Doctor Creek fire?
Yep. It's actually fairly common around here. There's remnants of past forest fires in pretty much every area. It can be decades later and you'll still see huge numbers of dead, burned out trees towering above the newer growth.
@@NorthernMapleOutdoors Cool, that’s what I like about being in the outdoors, finding old burnscars.
Looks like a great ride! Beautiful area. One thing: I can’t help but think that shovel situation is not safe. I wonder if you could get a couple of gun/tool mounts and mount it to the rear rack. Just a thought!
Agreed, I'm lucky to live here and enjoy the outdoors. The shovel was just a last minute situation and since I was alone it seemed like a good enough spot the day.
Beautiful country up there!
It sure is. I love it!
Where and how is your camera/gopro attached? I just ordered a GoPro Hero 10 black and a few different mounts. One I found on Amazon attaches to any roll bar of a UTV, others are suction cups etc.
This is one of those times I wish photos could be added to a reply. The GoPro is mounted on the roll cage directly between the seats looking over my shoulder. The mount is called Large Tube Mount. I've been told the Jaws mount is also good and I'll likely pick it up this spring. The Insta360 is clamp mounted onto a spot behind the rear view mirror. The mount is called Smallrig Ballhead Super Clamp. It's good for clamping to almost anything then adjusting to the view you want to capture. The downside is the metal tightening arm rattles sometimes. It's completely ruined the audio on a couple videos when it was attached to the roof over my left shoulder. It will likely become used for a second camera angle when I can use the audio from a first camera.
@@NorthernMapleOutdoors after I wrote my question, I saw the camera between the seats as seen from the camera taking your video. Thanks!
No worries, ask away. Even figuring out where it's mounted won't always tell you how it's mounted. Or how well it works. PS: Let me know how your camera mounts work out when you get a chance to try them.
@@NorthernMapleOutdoors will do
Nice video. I have the same machine but in Premium, whats the rule of thumb for selecting hi/low range?
Nice, hopefully you enjoy being on the trail as much as do. I'm no expert but I don't think there's a hard and fast rule. I tend to look at speed, RPM, and difficulty of the trail. Low gear gives me more torque and grunt on the difficult bits. The extra torque is a bit easier on the drive belt. Plus the higher RPM will help draw in fresh air to keep things cool. High gear is better for cruising along at speed when the machine isn't really being worked too hard. It won't take long to get a feel for how hard the machine is working at the various speeds. I suggest talking more experienced people on the actual trails you're riding.
For the first 1:40 I thought you had the selfie stick coming out of the cup🤣 Thanks Mike!
Nice! I must say that I've never thought of that before and it would be a funky trick. It might actually work for getting a side view from a boat or SXS. Hmmm...
DOH! It turns out I forgot to include my commentary track. At least a trail ride pretty much speaks for itself. You didn't really want to listen my mumbo jumbo anyway, right?
Hi Mike. Great comparison. Did you use a separate mic for this recording or is it the inbuilt 360 one?
I used the internal microphone.
@@NorthernMapleOutdoors Roger, thanks

Nice! The hoodie is my only one but I'm sure their other products work equally well.
@@NorthernMapleOutdoors great one thing since you had this hoodie longer is the battery still working the same?
Yes, it seems to be about the same. However, lately I’ve only been wearing it outside for short 1 or 2 hour bursts rather than long hours in a single stretch.
Really nice demonstration and walk-through! Keep up!
Thanks! It's good to hear that you found it useful.
