Step parents who are out there doing a job that was for someone else.. you are appreciated and loved probably more so for that reason. They know you don't have to be there but you want to be there. If the day comes when their parents come back and they get to know them, then it's not a dent in your relationship. It's just a deep-rooted need that's a part of them, and that child in them needs to heal by creating a new relationship with these parents. Thanks for giving those children self-worth and the confidence to live their best life. Good step parents are a gift, and your children know it. All these children out there who have no one, including step parents, need help. I wish more people adopted. You will never understand how much weight the word contentment carries for someone who has had a painful childhood. Having a safety net for life's heartbreaks is essential in childhood. So going through life knowing you weren't wanted, or even that you weren't wanted enough, either by people who should have naturally wanted you, or by anyone who has the means and the heart to, does something to someone's soul that never goes back. Children need undconditional love. Teenagers need unconditional love. Adults want unconditional love. If you are thinking of having children but you haven't healed from your own childhood traumas, then please stop trying until you get help. Otherwise, the cycle will just continue, which you may not even realise.

My dad kept me and my disabled brother when I was 7 months and he was 2. I didn't see him again until I was 9 years old. He had gotten married to the woman that broke up my mom and dad's marriage and they had 2 kids. He didn't come to my high school graduation or my military graduation bit He was there for his other 2 kids in everything they did. I played sports and he never came to any of my games. He wasn't there for me when I had to go through chemotherapy for breast cancer, my motorcycle wreck that I almost died. My car wreck in 2021where I had to have shoulder surgery from it and 6 months rehab. I had a bad fall and ended up with a tbi and he wasn't there. He hadn't rung my phone in 3 years. I'm ill from lupus and he doesn't care. I was in the hospital last June with Covid, double pneumonia, fluid on my lungs, etc. I about died then because when they found me, my O2 level was 78. I try and make our relationship work but he just doesn't seem interested. I'm fixing to be 54 on the 22nd and I'm pretty much giving up on him. The hurt is still there and as long as I try and make it work, I get shot down. Maybe he'll realize what ges missing but I doubt it. Some men aren't meant to be fathers. 😢
