When I lived in Echo Park (iykyk) hipsters would protest and block traffic for issues which *everyone* in that community was already in support of. One time I'd suggested they go into the OC to protest instead...nothing but crickets.

From experience, the 3sisters isn’t good for sweet corn, it’s very difficult to pick the corn without damaging the squash or pumpkins, but works great for corn grown to dry or popcorn.

I'm fairly sure you've got it backwards about DT: it scratches up the carapaces of hard-bodied bugs and causes them to lose their moisture faster than they can recover it. It doesn't really work on soft-bodied bugs.

I have some very happy cherry tomatoes that have overwintered here in SoCal. They have taken advantage of some bushes and the vines in my wall. No other support. They are acting like a vine should. One is intertwined with a bougainvillea. There are no bad sections or parasites that I can see. Bit messy looking, but they are productive.

Just curious, but did the watermelons get heavy and break at the stem and fall as they got bigger?. Or did they stay attached?

Since I started direct sowing lettuce, the problems of damping off and plant elongation that I always had are gone. Unless I bought the seedlings from nurseries which turn out perfect, I don't know how, but I have never achieved it. If you sow directly you only have to leave a few, the strongest ones. The same with tomatoes, I started sowing directly into the ground with the best results.

garlic spray is my grasshopper defense and also it helps with mold and blight i think? dont quote me... but use spinosid a and d it is a natural beneficial microbe that kills the potato bug and army worms and a lot of others too... i am just glad you did not recommend sevin like the other videos say lmao

Serious question from a gardener and row cropper: HOW do you get alfalfa to work within a carrot bed??? The covering with plastic while sprouting the carrots is genius - I will find some silage plastic and do that this year - but alfalfa is pretty tall stuff, and carrots grow slowly…so, how?? I’ve heard of sage and carrots

Can one use any kind of Marigolds; there's so many varieties to chose from at the Nurseries (gold, yellow, orange, orange w/stripe, etc., etc) I saw your previous video on compainon planting, it was very good! To the point and very informative!

I would love to see pictures or video of how you're planting them together, if there's a specific layout that works best, like rows, or clusters, etc. I'm using raised garden beds which usually need specific layouts for the small spaces.

Yep keep it simple, nice to see the garden live in action, I like the part of planting direct from seed also, falls in line with keep it simple, nice job on that cow fence trellis also, easy thumbs up.

How do you control squash bugs? I’m in zone 6b, central Illinois. I always give up on my squash and melons because of those dang things

can you talk about how the roots of each of these herbs grows out and does it effect what you can plant in the same bed with each herb? should i plant my herbs together but in seperate soil from my vegtables? or can i plant my herbs in the same soil as my vegtables. currently i have chive and thym in the center of my raised bed dividing it somewhat in half, i have done this to use it as pest repellent
