    It definitely did not work for me. I'm not sure why. I watched your other video on adding a surfacing bit. Got the bit added, no problem. I followed your instructions on this video and it essentially burned the wood in the path it was going, then the router jammed. Not sure if my bit sucks or if I did something wrong. I've got a 2" surface planing bit, feed rate 100, cut depth .05 in, RPM 18,000, stepover 1.0. When I went to add the bit, it wouldn't let me edit the number of flutes or flute length. It just automatically lists them as 2 flutes at .5 inches. My bit has 4 flutes. I'm running Carbite create 7 (build 743 - Was unable to download build 777 or 778)

    You have some really great videos that I've found super helpful. I set depth of cut to material thickness when doing lettering signs. They carve well, but I am finding that I get a ton of "fuzzies" in the letters when cutting through oramask. This is hard to clean up and affects the painting process. Any thoughts on how to prevent this? Finishing pass?

    How did you get the advanced vcarve to go through at the end and clean up your pocket lines? Do you have a discord? lmao

    • @aetimberpine
      @aetimberpine Před 15 dny

      The advanced vcarve is a 2 tool toolpath. The pocketing tool, usually an endmill. And then the vbit. Carbide motion will prompt you to start with the endmill and once complete it will prompt for the vbit.

  • @user-jw6bi4lv7w

    Hey man, love the videos. Question for you since I cant find an answer anywhere. Have you ever had issues with the simulation. • @aetimberpine
      @aetimberpine Před 15 dny

      When you see an advanced vcarve simulation, you’re seeing the final product. You won’t see and individual simulation of each tool like other programs. One thing you can see is that the final product has a slanted output edge such as a vcarve. A regular pocket toolpath will have a vertical wall rather than the slanted wall that the advanced vcarve provides. Make two squares and simulate both toolpaths to see clearly the walls/edges

    Carving the stars is driving me crazy, they turn out anemic. Practicing on .5" mdf, 0.5" 60 deg v bit, choosing stock bottom which is 0.54", cutting depth of 0.1. . . why is this so hard for me to get right?

    • @aetimberpine
      @aetimberpine Před 15 dny

      Hey Harry, Thanks for checking out the video. Try setting your max depth to stock bottom. Depending on the size of the union you’ll need to use the 60 deg vbit or the 90 deg vbit. For example my small unions at 10x7 I use a 60 deg vbit. My unions for medium flag (19.5x36) are 14 7/8x 10.5” and I recently started using a 90 deg vbit.

    Plunging straight down is generally a bad idea as there are no true center cutting endmills (center point just spins in place and doesn't remove material so both tool and spindle are stressed). Either Drill a hole or pre-mill a pocket by ramping in (Carbide Create Pro only). The hole doesn't need to be the size of the keyhole tool, just as long as the center of the hole is removed and plunge rate is reasonable. Clearly, you can get away with plunging into wood, but once you work with metal, these bad habits will rear their ugly heads.

      Hey Randy Hopefully they get you straightened out with the bit setter. In the meantime if you don’t used it, make sure you disable the bitsetter In the settings option in the upper right. Once you disable you can then initialize the machine. Once that is done you can then set you zeroes. Take your time and just try to get a simple carve done. Maybe pocket a circle, with a max carving depth of 0.04” with the default toolpath settings. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment

    The underlying database for tools is in the CSV spreadsheet file format. The tool files can be edited with a spreadsheet application such as in the Libre Office Suite. I attempted to use OSX Numbers on my Mac but Carbide Create crashed after exporting the file back to CSV to save my edits. The CSV file contains a detailed tool profile structure, much more than is available to view or enter within Carbide Create.

    I've had this Wen spiral cut jointer and it will give you an incredibly smooth surface. For the money, it's a fantastic deal. If there's a weak area, it's the fence - it's OK, but not as secure for heavier pieces. After having it for 2 years, my only thoughts for all of you considering this jointer is to save up and get the Wen 8 inch jointer. Yes, it's about $160 more. However, you get an 8 inch wide jointer capability along with a longer infeed and outfeed table. Trust me, it'll be be a lot better to invest the extra cash and get a piece of equipment that will make your woodworking projects considerably easier.

The bottom angle is 45 deg and that will give you the point. If you’re a visual person like me, try on your phone. Pause the video and give it a zoom. Should be able to see it that way.
