Hey Aaron , how do I install the macros , Im new into this
Usually I’ll put the macros on a thumb drive and import in the macro pool from the drive directly
@@AaronHiebLighting ok. i don’t see an import button in my MA on PC (macros-macros. pool
whats the actual use case for timecode? I am wondering, just started with TC in MA :-)
I use this plugin to create “All” presets that I can store to a cue list if I’m adding new fixtures and cloning is too tedious or when I initially build my cue lists for timecode projects
Great !!! My Justice - 'One Night/All Night' Remix : czcams.com/video/CJoDyqRhKnE/video.html
It's a little confusing having changing camera angles, I'd probably recommend against that. But otherwise, great show! :D One question, what moving heads are those on the bottom? :)
For sure, thanks. They’re ayrton perseo’s.
Hello, interesting tutorial or guide. I have the following problem, with magiq I do connect with unreal but with granma2 or granmad3 I cannot connect. I also need another computer.
Are you outputting artnet or sACN?

Sorry I just saw this. I’ll look into this
Can you share this set of pictures with me?🎉🎉
Sure, I'll add them to my website then link you!

Where with the .lua file, the .xml file to import into MA2
Go to the lua file, ctrl a, then ctrl c to copy all, then right click an empty plugin tab on your showfile to edit the plugin pool item, then ctrl v to paste it into the empty script. I hadn't released it with an xml to import yet because I am still updating a few things to clean up in the script.
Would this setup work if you were using a midi footswitch to trigger each cue? Or how would that adjust the setup?
I believe it should work similarly if you just used the foot switch to go each cue.
15:10 you can also press the "fix" button instead of typing it... but great vudeo!
Lol yeah I always had trouble finding that damn fix key 😂
I m going on tour next mounth , only huge festivals stages ..... you just save my life bro 😂 Thanks a lot for this video man ! clonig is still a bit mysterious for me
Glad I could help! Cloning with MA can be tricky but once you find a method you like, it’ll be like second nature! Good luck out there!!
Hello Aaron !!! Cool video thanks a lot. But i have a question. How do you syncronise markers in reaper to your timecode pools ? I want to do this for a show. The drummer launch tracks one stage with a PC so i want to use reaper to do that and create a timecode show. So when he hits the next marker it's automaticly run my song : so change my timecode pool and run the show. And i don't understand how to do that. Thanks Aaron !
Hey, sorry for the late response. I actually have been using a plunging called TimecodeMAte for this application. It’s phenomenal and I believe it’s free or quite cheap. Look up TimecodeMAte in the CZcams search and it should pop up!
Hi. Thank you for uploading this video. I have a question? How would you setup in a show? If I use a soundcard like you, but plug both ends of the wire through the audio mixer and take another wire from the mixer, plug it into the LTC on the MA, is it possible?
Hmm, sorry for the late response. I’m actually not sure. I’ll have to experiment with this and I’ll try to get back to you!
@@AaronHiebLighting Hi Aaron. Glad that you reply.
AHA SO YOU USE A AUDIO STME LIKE A CLICK TRACK FOR AUDIO IN OR MIDI IN FROM MA2 RIGHT?
Good job bro. Can you send your showfile for learning?
Thanks for the tips! Anywhere to download the showfile? How do you trigger differents songs with reaper ? Marker ? Regions ?
Hey, Aaron. Great job with this song. Can you please explain one thing? How do the lamps in Cue 9 while running one effect, without triggering Cue 10 change the effect at the end of Cue 9 on the bit (00:09:06)?
Thanks! I used a separate cue as a temp button to trigger the lamp bumps. Looking back I would probably use those cues in my sequence and create follow cues and “part 2” cues, but recording separate sequences in the same timecode tracking will work.
Хорошая работа
how about instead of fucking with macros etc to release the previous playback, have R999 cuestack macro on the first cue of the next song, that cue would then automatically release the same playback on a previous page while it activates the current one.
Sure, yeah that works. I like using the song macros because if the set changes, I don’t have to re-order my playback pages. Instead I can just press the macro and I have everything set up for my next song.
@@AaronHiebLighting makes no difference, r999 just releases whatever is held over active on another page. no need to re-order anything.
Can u pls help me out with this timecode
Sure, whatcha wanna know? Haha

how do we making effects with live music, THANX ADVANCE
Not quite sure what you mean. There’s a lot of ways and it really comes down to the type of effect and how you wish to trigger it. Do you mean like timecode or having the music trigger effects or something?
@@AaronHiebLighting YES the music trigger effects
@@Orj-Tech yeah I mean you can definitely do audio input but I’ll be honest, it doesn’t really look good most of the time because your effect is dependent on a specific level hitting at a specific frequency so there’s a ton of room for error. I never use this feature because I’ve never seen good results from it so honestly, I don’t have much of an answer. My apologies.
is there any way to explain how to trigger ableton or any other software from grandMA2 by uding MidiNote?
I could look into it. I use MA2 to trigger other softwares like resolume arena by patching “dummy” dimmers in MA2 and use those dimmers to trigger resolume actions similarly to mapping midi, but instead of “edit midi” I hit “edit DMX” and it works the same way. Not sure if there is an option to do anything like that in Ableton, but maybe look into showcockpit as a way to use OSC to do something like that. That’s the first thing I can think of. I’ll let you know if I can find anything else.
One big question, does i need the focusrite audio interface or just I can do it without interface, second question! What part on the back sides the time code audio plug goes? I hope you can help, by the way thanks for the video✌🏿
You don’t need that specific interface. You can use onboard audio but you will still need to split the TC generator rack and the audio if you wish to have an audio track output from reaper. All you’d really need is a 1/8’ to XLR cable to just output the TC generator but to do both you’d need a splitter so you have a left and a right xlr if that makes sense. It’s a lot easier to do the routing with an audio interface but you can find them for pretty cheap. As far as the port on the back side of the console, it should just say LTC in. Make sure to only have the TC generator track sent down that line to minimize issues with timecode generation. Hope this helps!
@@AaronHiebLighting helps a lot 🤜🏾🤛 I am working with the dot 2 ma, I really appreciate you answer✌🏿 thanks buddy🇲🇽🇺🇲I will subscribe to your channel.
@@pinki6666 much appreciated! Hope everything works out well!
when you doing timecode show, how do you make that que where you lockin time code at certain time, with audio guy, automation and other people who use timecode?
So I use a separate timecode pool for each song and I’ll have my timeline built beforehand. When timing changes (ie. The band switches track 4 and track 5 in the set) I will just edit the offset in the specific timecode pool. I will make a “mark” cue at the beginning of each song which is my cue 0.5 on this video. That cue is just setting all the positions, colors, gobos, etc to whatever the first cue in the song uses to ensure a clean fade.

What is Time coding good for ?
It’s most useful application is usually syncing lighting/video cues with music seamlessly at concerts/events, but there’s a really wide range of applications within lighting that timecode could be a really useful solution for!
