I agree no-one is accent-free and that discrimination and judgement values are often made depending on how one speaks, but I think these face-value judgements are made on a complex equation of biolinguistic traits besides accents. Certain accents/just like languages themselves are more pleasing acoustically/aesthetically depending on one's taste. For example, many native Englsh speakers enjoy certain non-native accents even though they are "other".Famously, many native English speakers "love" English spoken with a French or Italian or Irish or Jamaican accent or Indian or Russian or East End London accent. This preference usually has nothing to do with power dynamics/inherent discrimination. Preference for accents/voices are dependent on auditory aesthetics, clear understanding, range of tonal expression related to socio-cultural norms (for example robotic, stereotypically "german/english" accents that are monotone/non-empathetic/unfriendly). There is no doubt that circumstance and visual bias takes place in all dynamics of communication but I disagree that accent preference is consistent with inherent discrimination based on status/race but rather on biolinguistic differences in tone, vowel formation, tempo, expression and general proficiency between the first and second language. But yes, accent does matter- for better or worse.
