Robert Marley didn’t have the best voice out of Jamaica there many many more talented singers, Delroy Wilson (King of Reggae), Slim Smith, Dennis Brown, Tabby Diamond, Bunny Livingston, Alton Ellis just to name a few, but he surrounded himself with great musicians and he produced, through the Barret brother, (Carly Barett greatest Jamaican drummer) (Aston Barett greatest bassist) inspired Robbie Shakespeare, the greatest reggae sounds with decent lyrics which were inspirations to the world and later accept by Jamaicans.
Yes those were great vocalist, but dem voice weak..caught the imagination of fair amount of audience but you cannot compare any of the above to the gong!

I believe, for the most part Bob didn't sing to sound good, be a good singer or say himself he had a great voice and despite this you know his voice when you hear it... he wasn't just a singer he was a rasta ambassador using reggae as a vehicle and a weapon to send and spread a message to the world and he wasn't popular in Jamaica because he was a Rasta which wasn't accepted as it is now but thanks to him and others of the same message and independent spirit it slowly is becoming acceptable and even popular and the lyrics are purposely written to be simple and understood or sung even by children so calling them decent is disrespectful and ignorant on your part and you are entitled to your opinion and all this is subjective but please know that it is a general consensus by the world that Bob is the king of reggae and not the late Delroy Wilson 🙏🏽 I love all those artists you named but please be more respectful when you speak on Tuff Gong!!!!!✊🏽☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽

I can confirm what Barrington is talking is the truth, I still have the 2 inch master tape which JoJo gave me when we were looking to transfer it to digital. Black roses is on it, unfortunately its not playable again as it has shed allot of the oxide now as its over 30 years ago.
Is it possible to bake the tape again like how they found and restore some lost Bob Marley tapes a few years ago?
@@johntom8291 Its past possible, it was stored in a cupboard in JoJo house along with many others and suffered from the heat and humidity. We try and bake it in the oven and it could hardly play.
