Can you revive a Polaroid Swinger and take photos with it?
Back in 1965, Polaroid introduced the Swinger with an effective marketing campaign and sold millions of them. It used a special 20 series b&w 3000 ASA roll film which was smaller in format than normal Polaroid pictures, and was supposed to appeal to younger people. The price of $19.95 made it the least expensive instant camera at that time and Polaroid sold millions of them. Unfortunately, the marketing campaign was too successful for this camera, as it fell into disuse because of the low quality and smaller photos it made.
But many people have fond memories of this camera, and although I never owned one, I was curious as to what kind of pictures it could take. With some 3D printed parts and instructions found at polaroids.theskeltons.org/swinger.htm, you can shoot Ilford Delta 3200 film in this camera with surprisingly good results! The negatives can either be contact printed, enlarged, or scanned.

Manual shutter control on a Polaroid pack camera
zhlédnutí 498Před 9 měsíci
Giving a Polaroid pack camera manual exposure control is the first step to converting it to use other film types. In this video, I explain how I did this first with a resistor array, then with an arduino. Full instructions including schematics, parts lists, and build notes can be viewed at github.com/hackaninstant/Polaroid-shutter-control
Making a 3d printed servo controlled large format leaf shutter

This video shows how I made a servo controlled shutter, suitable for low speed film such as paper negatives or lith film. This is suitable for use with large format process lenses or home made lenses. Update: flash sync was added and works with electronic flash, and a rotary encoder was added for ease of navigation. See the Github page for details. Cost breakdown in CDN funds (incl shipping): A...
What can do you with a Polaroid pack camera?

In 2020, I came to a reckoning that instant pack film was not coming back. But rather than accept that my Polaroid pack film cameras were orphans, I set to making them work in other formats. In this video, I do a brief overview of the conversion work I've done on Polaroid pack film cameras, showing you the possibilities of using these cameras again with alternate film: Instax Wide, Polaroid i-t...
Preparing an instax 210 to use as a camera back

This video shows the process of stripping down an Instax 210 so that it can be used as a camera back. I use the result to convert Polaroid cameras to instax wide. This involves taking out the electronics, taking off the lens, modifying the cycle gear, and wiring it so it will eject one picture at a time. Since the making of this video, I'm using a relay to control motor run-on. This means that ...
Using 4x5 lith film in a Polaroid 110A camera

This video demonstrates using a Polaroid 110A with a 3d printed 4x5 back shooting lith film in -23C weather... The Polaroid 110A is a capable camera designed for Polaroid instant roll film, which was discontinued back in the 90's. There are various 4x5 conversions available for it, but I designed a back which follows the lines of the camera and uses smaller film holders which can all be 3D prin...
