yeah, you're right their numbers are inflated and don't account for general enjoyment or appeal because the west is where true success is. And yes the hype is real, worldwide, YOU are talking about it, Im playing it, 3 of my friends who don’t even play single player games bought it day one and are enjoying it, all the content creators whom I watch on this platform are either playing or talking about it, it is the most streamed game on twitch which is a platform not available in china. I can doubt that. if they had a history of genuine quality i wouldn't be so skeptical, but to come out the gate and blow everything else out the water with their first game? it just seems weird to me. also the inclusion of chinese themes just adds to the weirdness of it, games aren't popular because of their themes they're popular because they're good games, and the inclusion just seems disingenuous.

Setting doesn't beat gameplay, but it certainly does fuckin help. Just think of assassin's creed, god of war, etc...
