Appreciate the compliment. I’m in NE Ohio. We do have a lot of Amish builders here which can be a little cheaper but still have to watch as not all are quality builders.

@@journeys-with-joe Pioneer Pole Barn is out of Pa and uses Amish builders. My quote for a 30X40 with garage doors, with a 12'X40 lean-to, no concrete, no insulation, no site prep, $58K

@@remital6834 yeah that does seem a good bit high. Definitely get multiple quotes but could just be the labor cost is higher in your area.

Still working great! It ran everyday this past winter and made a huge difference in moving the heat. Right now I only turn it on when needed but works every time and really makes it comfortable when it’s hot out and I’m in the garage working. No regrets on the purchase or cost. Yes they do and now an increase in my property taxes because of the garage value. It never ends.

It’s been a few years ago since I bought the grapple but it was around $2000 then. I’m sure they are a bit more now. Definitely a cool attachment that I need to use more often.

Thanks appreciate the comment. The directions say vent termination must be 4’ below or 4’ horizontal from any soffit vent. Mine is a little over 3’ which is as far as I could get away. I think the main point is to keep the flue gasses from being drawn into the soffit vent. I put a CO2 detector in the attic for a little while and never had any problems.

@@journeys-with-joe that’s what I was thinking too. I’m the same in that I can’t quite get 4 feet from it. My eaves/soffits do not vent inside the building so I assumed there’s no issue. My plumber wants everything inspected after they do the gas line so I’d hate for the inspector to get picky about this when I’ve already cut a hole in the wall for thimble/vent 😂. I’m thinking of just having the plumber run the gas line and cap it, then I’ll install the heater afterward

Yeah I got mine around the Same I can’t believe what he paid

Garage is 34x50 with 14’ ceilings which you have to account for when heating. This past winter I was working in it a lot finishing the interior out and in the worst month in Ohio it may have added $20 to my bill. I kept it around 56-58 when out working in it and around 45 at night. Thanks for checking out the video!

Thank you! I actually don’t know since when I had the shell of the building built it was all part of a package. I didn’t think it was that bad honestly and hope to do a video on all the material costs once I’m done. I do know buying from a local metal former saves me hundreds vs buying from a big box store.

Lots of work ahead of you but sounds like you’re on your way. The spray foam is very nice just too much $$ for my budget. You’ll love it when it’s all done though.

I probably didn’t mention it much but no I don’t have a vapor barrier between ceiling trusses and steel. Based on everything I’ve found it’s not required or recommended in my climate zone and blown fiberglass doesn’t chemically react with the steel so no issues there either. I have been in the attic a few times this winter and no moisture or condensation issues even when digging out some insulation when I installed the ceiling fan wood bracing it was completely dry. I do have dripstop on the roof metal. Hope this helps!

I just finished my metal ceiling and the insulator guy who is gonna blow in the attic said that it’s not required in my area as well. Interesting how requirements are different. I’m in NE WA state. Thanks for your reply Joe!

Adjusting the rails is certainly an option if they are just misaligned. Mine were not and the springs keep everything from binding which is very important for a shaft driven opener. My 12’ opening isn’t perfectly plumb either which I’m sure is why the rails can’t be perfectly aligned either. Thanks for checking out the video!

Appreciate the comment! Yes it’s R-19 Fiberglass. Ceiling has around R-50 blown fiberglass.

It’s a little warmer now in the mid 20’s which is more common for winter in my area and it will keep it at 60 no problem and runs every 20min or so. Yours is a bit bigger building but sounds like you’ve done your homework on insulation and heating as well. Thanks for checking out the video!

Thanks for the compliment! I’m curious this season with the added wall insulation if that will keep some heat away. A mini split would be nice and I’m sure they are well worth the cost not to mention AC would be amazing in the summer to have!

im currently doing a 30x50x16 in new york in the poughkeepsioe area all in its gonna be between 35-50 grand building concrete paving electricity ect im doing a steel building since im going to be doing welding and cnc plasma

Never used this tool before so probably just not enough experience and I had the speed set low. It’s typical pole barn steel which is only 29 gauge but will go up to 16 gauge it says.

I almost bought the Dewalt snip attachment but this makes a much smoother cut. I have no past experience using this tool so I’m going slow. It definitely echoes on the steel so I agree a bit noisy.

@@journeys-with-joe The DeWalt will cut a smooth cut if you turn the blades the right direction. It took me awhile, but once you get used to it, it works great. You can even cut circles with them.

It can definitely be overwhelming with all the decisions to make. Take it a step at a time and be sure to get estimates up front on excavation as that can be a big surprise before you really even get started. I’m not a fan of the metal tube building myself they can be harder to finish out the interior later. Post frame was perfect for me as it wasn’t the most expensive and being all wood framing very easy to work with inside. Best of luck on your journey building out yours! 35k all in is not going to happen for a built building. Sure you can get pre fabbed kit but you get what you pay for

@@justanbaker8937 No, it'll be about 40K before the bathroom. But I got the site ready, the trees cut and then had people I know do the excavation and concrete, then helped build it with a friend with a GC overseeing it.

@@journeys-with-joe I'm lucky to have family next door that owns a large excavating company. So I cut the trees down, burned the stumps enough that they weren't a big deal(drilled some holes and poured Kerosene in there and let them burn for a few days). Then had a friend do the cement. It's been going pretty well. Ended up going 34x26. Wood is ~18K. Lots of other small costs, but I'm lucky to have help from people I trust each step of the way(and I'm not in a hurry). Got the cement poured, the walls up, got a drain and plumbing in...as well as electrical. The only decision left is if I put solar on the roof. I think I'm going to. That'll take me well over, but should be worth it.

@@scourge8097 sounds like you’re making great progress. Definitely good to have friends and family that can help out. Solar is a good choice if it’s too cost prohibitive to run power from a nearby source. I considered it in the beginning on mine but with our winter cloudy days and spring even I’m glad I was talked out of it. Never have to worry about what or when I use power. Everyone has a different situation though. Thanks for the update!

My local excavation company hauls material so he got it all for me. If you have a way to haul it it’s much cheaper to buy from the places that crush it but it was very convenient to have it dumped and then I just spread it when I got off work in the evenings which saved a ton of time.
