Next, update the repos: sudo dnf update nobara-repos nobara-gpg-keys --releasever=40 --refresh Notes: If you have any *.rpmnew files in /etc/yum.repos.d/ you should replace the originals with them. I really did not expect this video to blow up like it is now. I'd like to thank everyone for liking and commenting on the video now as I would only be giving out generic thank yous. So, again thank you! Since I'm here, I'll say that I don't plan on making this a whole documentation series as this video was originally just an update to where I've been, for transparency. I will, however, probably make a couple of videos on this for updates and then later on tell the whole story. I regret not recording my initial installations of distro jumping at the beginning as that may have helped others that are/were going through the issues I did. Also, I have other channels that are focused on particular stuff that interest me and other videos on this channel. Mind the disorganization between everything as I'm still chipping away at moving things where they need to be. See ya'll in the next one and take it easy!

OriginalKevin97: I am totally against dual booting operating systems! Do you have an extra laptop around the house, or can you acquire a laptop someplace like a cheap one at a garage sale or hock shop? I figure that is the best way to do it. Another idea would be, could you install a virtualbox and run an operating system from there? This way you wouldn't mess up your Windows install. My greatest suggestions for newcomers to Linux would be get your feet wet with Linux Mint Xfce, or Zorin Lite. Then maybe later on down the road you might want to try something like Debian or Manjaro. The primary reason why I say this is because when I first got started with Linux there were two guys messing with me that were trying to get me to run Arch or Gentoo which would have really screwed me up. If I would have listened to them I probably would have left Linux and went back to Windows, so I'm glad I didn't listen to them. BTW, Arch and Gentoo is for people that is extremely experienced with Linux.

Yeah linux users will convince you of everything but simplicity of use. Sorry I don't have 4 hours of my day everyday to write fucking commands. But I wish them all the best, I know they're doing the lord's work for privacy and open sourcing stuff. But I can't take the time hit it takes me adjusting to linux. Any distro of Linux is better than Windows. Hop around until you find one that works for you. Congrats.

Linux Mint is the way to go It's the number two rated distro and Kdenlive works great It's got a few little issues but I've been using it for years!

18 years on Linux. Started on Open suse, moved to ubuntu then used mint for many years. for the last 5 years I've been using Arch because there is loads of software. Capture card, cameras and microphones require V4L2 to be install. Also use pipewire for the audio. NOTE: Nvidia cards have built in capture using OBS. You can capture games running on the same card. Remember that everything in Linux is treated as a file. EVERYTHING!! All devices are in /dev/ lspci lists all your hardware. You can see if Linux recognizes it's there, then it's figuring out what you need to run it. Don't think it works like Windows.

LPT. Keep separate ssd to for distrohopping. I use 500gb external SSD to try different distros, but my main system is on internal chunky 2TB drive. Helps to checi actual hardware comparability (personally I can't be bothered to setup nvidia GPU and Intel WiFi if distro doesn't do it for me out of the box) I also use virtmanager for virtual machines. For work I keep windows to connect via windows specific vpn

so for the ones who want to try Linux please start with linux mint and the cinaamon desktop .. will save you loads of hassle !!!

for one you should start with Linux mint ... two with davinchi resolve did you install the native linux version ??? three whine and vertual machines can have driver problems

I've been going through the same things recently. Decided to ditch windows due to privacy concerns and have been trying mint. The experience has been great so far, very little research needed to use my computer normally, and using proton was as easy as flipping a switch withing steam (literally).

get ready, you're gonna break your system at least 2 times before you get the hand of it. But after that it should be a fairly smooth experience until you switch distro again
