Brilliant last lap battle for the overall win at Bathurst. One of the most enjoyable sidecar races I've ever been in (while it lasted). Shame I couldn't keep the shiny side up!

Very sad about Mal Evans. I got to know him a little when he used to come into the Bank where i worked in the 70's. Nice guy
love these insane scoot jockeys... i wish i could've done sidecar but never knew anyone involved. seen a bit of it at Calder as a little kid.... would've been some bruised and burnt backsides on that circuit coz plenty of bumps and drops... and the guy who got ran over at the start looked like broken ribs at the very least.

That 1000cc is 4stroke and the 2 stroke has 500cc?
The two stroke engines were 700cc or 750cc. The four stroke engine were generally 1100 cc

Fkn hell ! I did not know they raced outfits round there, tell you what, that is super scary, i'm amazed the engines live that long LOL, brave stuff.

Alistair Tassie Yeah, same here mate. Would love to race there again. We blew up our engine on the second lap of practice. By the time we got the borrowed engine fitted and rewired the bike we’d missed qualifying and the first race. So we got a grand total of about 8 laps!. Not exactly what I had in mind😂

This was the ,85 Harvey Wiltshire meeting.
This is the broadcast footage without commentary, I negotiated hard with the TV guys to get it released for the kiwis, I have never seen it till now and had no idea that they actually came good. First time I’ve even seen the race cause I was tied up with admin all day.
What a cracking race ! I was there but don't remember it :(
They were the days, its a shame the cops ruin the bikes on this track, great days indeed...
