Foreigners should not have been brought in by giving the jobs of Singaporeans. "Cheap" (no CPF) foreigners depressed local wages and their demand push up prices. Singaporeans got screwed big-time. Despite LKY's (and PAP's) claim Singapore is not a First World Country in terns of real wages, productivity, work quality snd standard of living. After 5+decades where is the Swiss Sandard of Living promised 20 years ago? Singapore needs regime change to make in Singaporeans First.

I disagree with LKY. Singapore is a country, not a company. So locals should be given priority for jobs and in education. Singaporeans First. Always. Foreigners should only take jobs when locals do not have the skills. But this is not the case. Foreigners are significantly cheaper (up to 17%) to employ because they are exempted from CPF. What has happened is that thousands of Singaporean PMETs lost their jobs to foreigners and wound up unemployed or doing low-paying "transactional jobs" like private car driver or delivery man for online food orders. In other countries these jobs are done by low-skilled migrants. The shortage of skills among local can also be blamed on PAP's "pick-the-winner" scheme. It limited to a small % of each cohort of young Singaporeans that can have a local university education. Singapore needs regime change.
