an old acquaintance of mine his wife had an aneurism she had a heart attack and seemed ok up until the loaded her in a flight for life helicopter when it took off the change in pressure caused the aneurism to blow in her head and to this day she is locked in she has the ability now to feed herself but thats it nothing more, yet Christ is with her she had a breathing tube put in because of pneumonia, after the doctor said it would kill her to remove it, yet the next morning when she was checked on and surveillance cams examined it can't be explained, because it doesn't even show a nurse going into her room, the next morning when she was checked on the breathing tube was laying on top her chest outside the body, and even she has no idea what happen,
I KNOW YOURE LIKE 50 YEARS OLD USING THE WORD ACQUAINTANCE INSTEAD OF OLD FRIEND 💀💀
My son had a brain stem stroke & has locked in syndrome. He just turned 21 in January. We were told he most likely wouldn’t live through it &!if he did he would always be on a breathing machine, bed bound & a quadriplegic. We have been waiting to go to Shirley Ryan for 4 months. Your video is so encouraging for us. He has already surpassed everything we have been told & so excited to get there to see how much further he will recover. Thank you for sharing your journey.
@shirleyryanabilitylab Have you ever had patients who get this on a temporary basis? So the person is perfectly normal, then gets an attack for about an hour (flaccid paralysis of everything except autonomic breathing (not full breathing) and eye movements for communication), then slowly comes out of the flaccid paralysis back to normal? Have you heard of Functional Movement Syndrome? We call communicating with a person in this kind of attack eyeball semaphore, where we ask a series of yes/no questions, where looking up is yes and looking down is no.
THE TRAGIC LIFE OF KATHY THUREEN.
This video gives me hope! Thank you for making this and for all that you do for the severely brain injured!!!
I certainly can relate with the gratitude she holds for the therapists which make Shirley Ryan AbiliyLab what it is.
Keep up the good work brother! Things will get better, be patient with yourself
Living with brain damage is a real suffering course because there is no escape, not even a moment's respite. It follows you everywhere like a shadow, even in your dreams where it takes the form of bizarre personifications and strange, broken landscapes.
I honestly believe yrs ago had doctors cared for the patience with tbi thought he brain could heal itself by getting ppl up and moving and worked with. Alot if tbi ppl wouldn't just be stuck in bed

Almost 4 months ago my brother Had a heart attack and as a result have hypoxic brain injuury... initially he can only open his eyes with limited look around movement.. now He can move his lips tongue and eyebrows a little. And he also started to yawn.. and few times ..very few times..move his elbow, feet finger, shoulder and head ..but very little. Almost after a month he started breathing on his own... initially was put on a ventilator .. He was initially having food through NG tube now doctors have inserted through stomach what they say as "peg tube". He also have tracheostomy tube in the neck Also mri scans have shown global or severe hypoxic brain injuury He is only 33 . he also produce tears in both eyes.. he cannot even control his head ... ... Right now he is discharge from the hospital and we are caring for at home we are doing physiotherapy ourselves. To protect him from bed sores We are changing his position every hour on bed
You cannot do what a professional trained for 8 years to do wtf take him to a physical therapist

Way to go, Brian! Keep up the Good Work!
Today my wife is diagnosed with this after having a stroke which caused Basilar artery infarct and Acute pontine infarction. I never heard of locked in syndrome before! She been in hospital for 10 days and today they told me the diagnosis! I totally broke down! Today in the ICU i saw her crying without a sound! Just her face expression, she started breathing by her own! I am so happy for the little things! We have small kids please pray for her! Seeing her trying to cry today just broke my heart! Is she feeling pain? But the only thing I am happy of that she started to move her face expression at least I can see some hope and the fact she started to breath by her own! I wish god will give her strength to recover! I am totally broken by her. Currently she score 6/15 sad that when we got to hospital she was moving her left side and had only unable to sallow and right side was paralyzed. She was 10/15 but today she is 6/15 but she looks like a fighter.
It’s been a few weeks since you have posted this comment. I hope the children and doing well. Your story bought tears to my eyes. I can’t imagine what she is thinking. Just like Kyle’s story, she will need time. Everything is still fresh. I pray that everything goes smoothly and she will be back at home in no time💜
@@kuroslife.1079 unfortunately my wife had infections her fever was 40 so they gave her antibiotics but sadly within one day her organs was started to shut the blood circulation was so low and the blood pressure was extremely low to the point that the machines was struggling to read the correct pressure she also had liver failure due to organs failure, and passed away within the same day.I asked them what caused the infections and they said due to breathing tube she can easily catch infections and her immune wasn’t efficient at this critical times. She was such a beautiful soul, went to heaven where she belongs. I was able to set with her for 7 hrs after she passed away until they bury her. She was almost looking so alive her skin was so normal compared to when she was at hospital struggling she was so yellow and lifeless. But after she passed away she was so beautiful beyond recognition. I have build her a water source for those in need in india. And started donating for charity under her name. We miss her so much. As she was gone too soon.
@@lowdownclub7728 I thank you for updating me. I am sadden by the news. Your strength is what those kids need more that ever. Im relieved to hear how she was at peace the time of her passing. My grandmother was the same way. So at peace during that time. You being there by her side was the best for her. Never ever let her go! Speak her name everyday. Guide those kids and don’t ever ever stop loving them. It’s going to be challenging. This is only the beginning. Keep filling the chapters and complete the story. If you can, please share the charity. I will send a donation to honor your loving wife💜

They left laying in halix for 7.5 months until Halifax finally packed him and dumped up where he is now suffering neglect at the lowest of low nursing homes him the day he turned 21 He is talking he can read and count and remembers everything and has full use of his limbs. He just weak and can't even sit up on his own from being left in bed for 7 months. I support him 100% with anything he needs for personal use but I can't afford any rehab for him His mother stole his insurance money and is getting ssid neither parent has bought so much as a bar of soap. We've made reports to the state but don't see any results. This young man was the most responsible respectful sweetest boy. And his life was snatched away. All I want is him to have some sort of quality of life. We are located in central Florida.

That is very sad; I'm so sorry. The lack of health care in this country is terrible; just awful. Again, I'm so sorry about this young man's situation, and the heartbreak it causes you.

With private insurance my son only got to have 60 days "lifetime " benefits for inpatient rehab. He needs so much more and wants to get better. Its sad now how hard it is to get them help they need. Prayers for him.
This is a shocking story. Best wishes to you and I hope there's some help. I'm in Australia. My wife went through this, so your story resonates. But here the govt looks after you. It's 5 years ago now and she got half a million dollars of treatment that was all free (everyone pays a health tax here plus mandatory private insurance), and still gets about 100K worth of help per year for the rest of her life due to a levy we all pay with car registration each year. America is such a hard place. One little error and you're gone -- and it can happen to anyone. I don't understand his parents at all. I saw amazing scenes of devotion and care in our system and the brain clinic. Good luck to you all.
Congrats bro. I had the same injury as well but I'm recovering now. Keep going you're almost there 🙏💯

Wowza!
Just a warning for anyone who has to go there... These people charged my elderly mom $31.00 for parking for only 1 hour and 10 min. Be careful if you have an appointment with them because you will pay an outrageous amount to park there. I can only imagine how much they would charge if she stayed for 2 hours or more. This is disgusting.
