Technics SL-P333 CD Player Repair
Here I repair a skipping/jumping CD player. It requires a specialist tool I can not get hold of so a best educated guess is required.

Liebert Powersure UPS Repair

This is a UPS I loaned to a friend a few years ago. It's stopped working and he no longer needs it so let's see if I can fix this and use it in my home office.
Buck/Boost Module Repair
zhlédnutí 57Před 7 měsíci
It's one of those online cheap buck boost regulators you can get. Been happily supplying a current limited supply to a string of LEDs for a few years and has now given up. A simple fix if you know where to look.
Grabby Stick Repair

Here I repair one of those extended reach grab sticks. Super glue, staples and epoxy. Probably stronger than when it left the factory!
Santa Gets A Prosthetic Limb!
zhlédnutí 31Před 8 měsíci
Fixing a really old toy #santa which probably came from #woolworths originally. Santa must have broken his leg falling down a chimney, so now it is up to me to fix him up. He's wearing dark glasses, and sings in a somewhat #Elvis style I guess. He's supposed to dance but dances no more.
Denon Part 1-Brief Intro to a BIG project
zhlédnutí 74Před 8 měsíci
A quick video to show you my idea for #upcycling an old Denon AVR. I've repaired this thing so many times it's become annoying. Time to breath some new life into it. This is going to be a mega project with both hardware and software design. In this video I will #salvage parts from this #amplifier and strip it back to a bare shell.
LED Lightbulb Repair - NO FIX

An attempt to fix an LED lightbulb. Unfortunately it's not an economical repair this time around.
Rock Cube RC-1 Mini Karaoke Jukebox Repair

Just a simple one. A broken micro USB charging port with a terrible design. This is actually the first video I made for this channel!
Texas Instruments TM990 Repair/Upgrade Part 2
zhlédnutí 177Před 9 měsíci
In this part we learn a bit more about this device and it's intended purpose. We also code a hello world program and perform the board upgrades to accommodate RS232 communication. The EPROM upgrade will be part 3 as this was getting a little bit long. If you want to skip straight to the upgrade portion, go to 8 minutes 40 seconds in via this link - czcams.com/video/MXetms4hHyY/video.htmlsi=jkZo...

Answer new lasar unit,, problem the machine you need to calibrate the new laser unit once its replaced cost about two thousand pounds... It's the same with mini disc's players...now it's been turned up the diode will soon go pop...

I think you should have tried the mechanical adjustment as in the service manual, over time the disc sits lower due to wear. I believe the laser power pot is on the side of the laser so your fix should last.

Why bother? Your time must be worth more.

Just nice to make a video and I hate throwing stuff away for the sake of a few pennies and 20 minutes.

A bit worrying to see absolutely no fuse or attempt (using a low value resistor) at fusing in that bulb. If something goes short you will be limited by the breaker in your fusebox, probably 5 amps but some houses are higher. Or if you have it in a desk lamp of some sort you could be looking at a 13 amp fuse in the plug. My experience with LED bulbs is that it is almost always one of the LED's in the series chain goes open circuit when they fail. If they are separate LED's you can often spot one with a black burn mark inside it. How high did you take the voltage on the bench supply, some bulbs need quite a high DC voltage because of all the LED's in series. The cap on the output will give you an idea of the max voltage.

I went right up to 60v and nothing. Not seen one higher than 36v so far. Yep no kind of inrush limiting or fusible resistor and your shouldn't be able to get inside them so easily. There was no black pop mark on this one so I was hopeful it was the input cap. Had about 50/50 with dead LED or dead cap. That cap takes one hell of a current spike with no inrush limiting. If I do another one, I might modify it slightly. Output cap was a 35v one or 50v I believe.

Can you share the source of the D connector please ? I made the ROM to EPROM adaptor out of 2 turned pin ic sockets , cut the 2 pins that are different short on the top socket then solder the rest of the pins from the top socket to the bottom. Link the other 2 pins across as required with some thin wire. Those 2114 are made by National Semiconductors

Good choice for a first video. I've got one of these as well. If you need a tested TMS9902 or other chips let me know, i stocked up a few years back when the chips must have been more available. I'm trying to decide if i want to upgrade my TM990/U89 or leave it as is is. If you do a lot of this sort of work invest in a vacuum desoldering gun, so much easier that wick or a hand desolder sucker. One thing, the volume level on your video is really really quiet compared with most CZcams videos , i had to turn it up to max. Don't forget to link to your video from the facebook group
