Exploring a Rare 1990s Keighley Hydraulic Lift
Join me on a nostalgic journey as we explore one of the last remaining original Keighley lifts from the early '90s. Installed in 1990, this hydraulic lift defies convention with its machine room located above rather than below, a unique design choice that sets it apart from the typical ground level motor placement.
🔧 Unique Engineering: Witness the distinctive engineering marvel where the lift’s hatch opens up to reveal the motor room above, a rare sight in hydraulic lift designs. No access.
🔔 Classic Mechanisms: Imagine listening to the charming mechanical bell that signals the lift’s arrival at each floor, a delightful reminder of the technology of yesteryear.
⏳ End of an Era: This piece of lifting history is on the brink of modernisation. Soon, it will undergo a transformation, potentially by Kone or Apex, marking the end of its original state.
🎥 In This Video: Experience the lift’s smooth operation, see the unusual motor room access, and hear the mechanical bell in action.
🛠️ Preserving the Past: As we prepare to bid farewell to this classic lift, let’s appreciate the engineering and design that have stood the test of time.

Step back into the 1990s with this rare glimpse of a classic Keighley hydraulic lift. Known for their robust design and distinctive 80s flair, Keighley lifts are a marvel of their time. This particular model, installed in 1990, showcases the unique feature of having its motor room located above the lift, akin to traction lifts, a curious engineering choice when traction lifts are typically more...

Low Pressure Sodium Lights Embark on a solo educational drive with me along the A13 in Thurrock, Essex, where the night is lit by a rare spectacle: the low-pressure sodium (SOX) streetlights. These lights are not just remnants of a bygone era; they are beacons of efficiency and simplicity. Emitting a monochromatic wavelength, they provide excellent visibility while minimizing glare, making them...

Join me in capturing the essence of the ride, from the moment the do...

Brand new 2023 Apex Lift

This is a brand-new Apex lift which has replaced a Keighley-Schindler hydraulic lift which had been installed back in 1990. This new Apex generic branded lift is surprisingly well built. It has good build quality. It uses substantially well built materials and in my opinion it’s probably better than the one it replaced which is rare to say in this day and age. I believe there was a new lift re...

This is the new lift which has replaced a cool 1990s Hydraulic lift which has been featured on other CZcams channels. It is a shame to see it go, but it has been replaced with a state of the art modern lift and this new unit has a good construction compared to other MRLs being installed.

The restaurant only sunk approximately 3 months ago, but in that short time, it has become a breeding ground for mold and other forms of decay. Despite the restaurant's tragic fate, I was able to discover something truly remarkable during my invest...

Keilriemenantrieb nicht zu Ende gedacht. Man muss das ganze Ding zerlegen, wenn man die Riemen wechseln muss.
I don't know why but this reminds me of a lift in Roblox, probably because of the motor sounds and chime.
60
Nice to know that I wasn't the only one who heard that scraping when going between floor 1, the left one is still currently blocked off, so I'm hoping its not being completely taken out and replaced
They are both getting completely replaced, with everything being stripped and renewed. They are installing MRL motors and new chassis and guides so they will both be brand new in the next few weeks.
@@harrisonhealey1679 Oh that's a shame, at least there is still the Miconic's in the M&S car park, but I don't think they are going to last much longer as the relays seem to be failing
Over 400 feet in controlled airspace. Naughty boy! 😉😉

Wow it seems like the cab was dropped and its sitting at the bottom of the shaft in pieces
So pretty!
Bet that's a firebird !
👏👏👏👏💯💯
Don’t look like there’s anything left to put out
The height of Crystal Palace transmitter is about 220 metres. The maximum height that you fly a drone legally is 120 metres. Did you have dispensation to fly at that height?
Answer. No! 😂😂
You get a great view of the transmitters driving south over the QE2 bridge at Dartford. In the west there's CP and Croydon, in front of you is Wrotham and in the east Bluebell Hill. I've never looked behind me. Would I be able to see Sudbury?
ايذا قرب المقطع ينتهي أتو رجال الاطفاء
Our company had a contract to cut the grass around the tower & needed security clearance to carry out the work
Wow. Dangerous AF.
Nice footage👌🏻
😟 don't fall
Those 90s Express hydraulics are quite cool! I’ve found one from 1997 before, so would be within some of the final installations. Did you get a video of inside the lift?
I did get the inside but can’t seem to find that video, this was filmed in 2021 but when I find it I’ll upload it
Reminds me of a set of Keighleys near me but have since been modded. Love the mechanical bell!
Did you get any videos of them??
@@harrisonhealey1679 sadly not this was a fair few years ago :/
Looks like a ChatGPT created description.
It was Bing Copilot but they are very similar to the way they create text.
Is the motor room above the lift ?
CP broadcasts on AM 558khz as well as TV which i can hear clearly at my location in the West Midlands.
Growing up I disliked sodium street lights -- both the high and low pressure varieties, but particularly the low. But now that they are dwindling in number, I find I appreciate them more. At the height of sodium's dominance, I used to treasure the soft moonlight glow of the last remaining mercury vapour lamps. Then the warm, clear light of metal halide become the fresh novelty. I've never quite grasped why LED street lights are mostly configured to provide white light. White light is often a nice choice for places where people congregate and spend time, but I think a monochrome, yellow, orange or red would often make more sense.
There's someone walking in the middle of the road at 1:30?!
The voice is like Orona.
Looks like a Dodge truck. Figures..LoL
Would have been nice to seen more of the responding units. I know you was focused on the car fire, but we want to see the firetrucks responding coming down the highway.
Wish they used a ball n chain like the old days!
Thank you for the video. All the LPS streetlights in my city were replaced by LEDs a few years ago, and I absolutely hate them. It sounds stupid, but I darely miss the sodium streetlights. Walking on a quiet street at night will never feel the same.
LCD Indicator Instead
It wouldn’t make sense for them to be replaced by LEDs, low pressure sodium (SOX) lights are actually more efficient! ~180 lumens per watt!
Sounds like it might have a Ziehl-Abegg Zetadisc motor (ripoff of Ecodisc)
Why didnt you take one of the call stations
Anything hiding in the back of that Citroen Utility truck? Maybe it's where the security guard takes his nap? ;)
And the worst part is they didnt modenize it with anything good they replaced it with those crap generics they have up there
Time to convert the lift to PLC logic.
Three years on what have we got a school and 3 years to build 40 houses management at unbelievable levels
They still have some on 1 roundabout at Hemsworth brilliant in the dense fog as you can still see it from well into the distance
Far superior to LEDs! I miss actually been able to see the roads 😢
And nice video😀
Is it hydralic or traction elevator?🛗
Thank you! It was a hydraulic lift but the pump and equipment had been removed, possibly relocated to another building to give it a new lease of life
Our street had sox lamps way up until 2018 until they were finally replaced with the white devil leds. I miss that orange glow more than I'd ever thought. World is a totally different place at night now
Shame these were replaced by cool/cold white L.E.D's, if only they replicated the colour using L.E.D.
SMaller than any elevator i've been on
I was born and raised under both of the towers - near Norwood Lakes. Years later, I used to fly regularly from Heathrow and, on a clear day, could see the towers from the airport. Always nostalgic to think of our old house still being watched over by them.
I’ve seen some that you struggle to get 1 person in lol! Probably half the size of that if not smaller
Me too lol. In my case, 'twas an Otis that had a 3 persons capacity. In reality, it could barely fit 2.
