Great interview! So good to hear from Tim DeLaughter - a true visionary. Fact: I got into the Spree from that VW ad by pausing the (tube) TV and getting a photo of the iPod screen in the ad! So glad that Tim had the foresight to insist on that detail. "Together We're Heavy" remains a go-to album AND song for me after all these years - absolutely brilliant.

Obsessed after watching them live in Platteville, WI after 5 secs. I literally stood up from my seat and yelled at my friend: This is what music is supposed to sound like!!!! Been to three of their live shows total and loved each one. They energy is unmatched.

This band absolutely rocks! I've had the pleasure of seeing them several times and meeting most of them. They're all super talented, humble, and overall wonderful human beings. I see them each August at Musikfest, and wanted to see this one at Musikfest Cafe but was out of the country at the time. Their attention to detail, down to the equipment, is remarkable. Even non-Radiohead fans would find them impressive. If you ARE a Radiohead fan, I *HIGHLY* recommend catching one of their shows. You will NOT be disappointed! (I still have -- and treasure -- Colin's drumsticks from their show a few years ago at the Queen in Wilmington, DE.)

So excited to see them live soon. Tripping Daisy was the first cassette tape I bought on my own. Last time I saw polyphonic spree was when they opened for David Bowie.

Ive seen the Spree many many times,,, the only band i have seen,,, when you can actually meet ALL the band,, and they remember you each time you see them,,, its like a huge mega great family. Had an amazing time doing this, probably one of my favorite pod collabs/guest spots I've done in a long time. Big props to Phillip at YNFB for having the idea and pretty much doing all the pre-show leg work. Thanks to Nate for bringing the XPN Xennial Caucus to the chat. And even XPN station manager Bruce Warren was watching, as well as other folk from WXPN. Love the post-game wrap up style of it all, would happily do this for every countdown.

Thanks for the interview, gentlemen. Yesterday I found myself in a beautiful setting in nowhere, Kansas and the song "Nature" came to mind... I was glad to find it online & listen on the nature walk - had been years. The Samples was a mainstay for me and friends (I think for many) in the early 90's in college. Sean - that song is a wonderful expression of Romans 1:19-20 "For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. Ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made."

Bandits on the Run were such a bright light and source of comfort for me during the early days of the pandemic. They performed and streamed several house concerts that soothed my soul. My love and appreciation for their beauty and creativity is boundless. I have all of their music and have seen them perform live several times, and they are DEFINITELY my favorite band. Thank you so much for conducting such a well-researched and thoughtful interview!

I’ve been a fan since the early 2000s and have waited for a doc like this for 15 years. After watching last night, I loved it but it seems to have been made primarily for the already well initiated. I felt like it lacked more narrative which would’ve helped especially for those not well familiar with the history. They covered the early days really well but then the blowing up in the late 90s/early 2000s just went by really quick. There was way more music from the early cassettes than the best songs from the peak years. The uninitiated would’ve got to that point and likely wondered what the big deal was. I liked that they talked about the years after the height or “dark times” but then they didn’t seize the moment by then showing AIS’s “Energy” single, Jeff re-emerging at OWS and the NMH’s triumphal and emotional reunion tour (would’ve loved to hear Julian and Scott’s perspectives on those first shows) and OTC’s reunion all of which brought them to bigger audiences than ever before and getting to bask a bit in the enormous effects their music had had since the hectic heyday and the growth of the fanbase and their emotional connection to the songs that had developed so much over time. All of that before covering Bill’s death would’ve really made the narrative feel like it came full circle. All that said, as a knowledgeable longtime fan, I loved it.

Great great band. The OG line up is almost all back except for Jeep. His drumming is just world class - honestly best drummer I e ever heard. Wonderful melodies and harmonies. Very unique and powerful stuff. Thanks for the interview.
