Parish Giving Scheme | Regular Giving at Truro Cathedral
Looking after such an iconic building is really quite expensive! The cathedral relies on grants, donations, gifts in Wills and events like concerts and craft fairs. Every day it costs around £3,500 to look after the building.
Giving a small amount every month is a great way to help a building you love and you can do that through the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS). It's really easy, anyone can make a contribution and you can do it from as little as £1/month.
Regular giving at Truro Cathedral through the Parish Giving Scheme is a great way to know that you are contributing towards preserving a building that is important to you and your family and the whole of Cornwall.
To give regularly, please use the Parish Giving Scheme www.parishgiving.org.uk/donors/find-your-parish/truro-cathedral-truro/

My husband and our 3 sons were all in the choir from 1971 onwards. Many happy hours. Mrs Edwards and I used to launder the boys surplices in those days. We did half each. I will say that our sons have grown up to become successful in their lives and still sing today in choirs with our youngest spending 4 years at Trinity College of Music studying and voice training. We have much to thank the Cathedral and the staff then (John Winter & Henry Doughty). Daphne & David Brown.

It's incredible that we wait for a person to put the Holy Spirit into themselves. We can literally put the Holy Spirit into our children. I say this as a person who has 3 children who are not baptised. Trying to explain what I know to them is probably like it is to all parents pretty much impossible or so it seems.

This gospel reading began with Jesus saying to forgive not 7 times, but 77 times, and then he tells a story. The unjust steward having been forgiven (once?) refuses to forgive his fellow slave, but then the King/Lord hands him over to be tortured until the debt was paid. Where ae the 77 times? I would appreciate any thoughts on this. I have wondered if, when we refuse to forgive another, whether it feels like torture. Something about hell being a place of our own creation. Perhaps this kind of torture is also?

The shape of the gospel? What came to me was that the gospel is like the shape of water, which depends on the container that holds it. And that is me and you. Because each person's experience of the gospel is unique, because each of our relationships with God are also unique. And, in the wisdom of God the water is fluid and can assume new shapes as we grow in wisdom and insight - and yes, love.

I liken myself to a rat in a maze. Blindly going down every turn. Slowly learning the good the bad and the ugly. Trying not to go down the negative diversions to often or repeatedly and to pick up and learn the scent of God which cuts a clear path through it all.

Another phrase I don't understand is 'you say I am' when they or Pilate didn't. Sorry to insult you Lord Jesus. It feels that violence and conflict are actually natural human behaviors, mirrored across many life forms. To step aside or become more aware or whatever the popular phrases of your times are we have to act supernaturally. For us who have been blessed by having our eyes opened by God to see Him literally as a Being and our Father, you can't get more supernatural than the example of not only our Father in heaven sending His only Son but also the Actions and example of the Son when He was here. The personal revelation is awe inspiring when you understand that all life and systems and devices are ordered in a hierarchy and that the Being the Lord our God is at the top. To inspire us all to see how to be, and how He understands our situation here on earth He, in front of the entire universe, creation and all of heaven threw himself at our feet, to eventually rise back up to His throne and true position. What a journey for anyone but this is what the King of everthing did.

Some people don't agree with large religious buildings and you can say that you don't need buildings to worship God which is true, but it's also true that small groups, house churches and quaint congregations doing their thing can't necessarily reflect God to the truly lost. You could say that the Cathedral is a beacon that says 'GOD' and lost people need a beacon to find their way. You don't have to spend much time in the Cathedral to see that as well as hosting a lovely congregation it also sees a steady stream of very lost people in desperate need of love, both God's and ours.
