@@NightShade-f4y Nah you are good, I am getting SO many people writing essays way longer than this lol. I am not sure where I stand on dying to get back to base though tbh, since Minecraft really needs teleportation/transportation options due to the infinite world sizes. I wouldn't say it makes it more difficult though - just more tedious (unless you don't have an elyctra yet).

I feel that and I'm not sure what I am going to allow myself for my own world (I'm making it rn lol - you got a hint towards some future content). Although tbh Minecraft really needs to add an option to teleport legitimately since the Minecraft world is infinite, yet doesn't have good options for traveling great distances.

Why does risk = meaning? If you love suffering then fine lol, but I don't get the principle that external punishments are important for growth. We humans can implement intrinsic motivation for getting better at something, without an external punishment. I think this actually leads to increased growth, since we can try new things that we aren't sure if we will succeed, without fear of being punished for taking on new challenges. It is a bit like "why do we have harnesses for rock climbing?" It doesn't make rock climbing easier, it just makes the sport safe instead of deadly, so that we can actually try it out, and try out paths that we don't know if we can do, without the risk of dying or getting injured.

​@@superking100 I overall completely agree with your statement, however you are talking about real life. I didnt really make it clear but,i am only talking about games. Video games, overall are completely risk free, it is fiction after all. But risk in real life is very real, so i seek the thrill in video games, where the risks and thrill feel real, but they wont impact real life. Another reason is, lets say i am trying to beat the enderdragon, if there are no consequences to dying, i will never try doing something different or try to learn what went wrong last time. I will just bruteforce it until i win, and it will just take time, and if it just takes time to do something, then why not just go creative and kill it? I mean i would have done it anyway. Now this is obviously my completely personal opinions, and how i am as a person. obviously not going to shame anyone for using keep inventory, but its just not for me. And also using keep inventory IS factually easier, it is the only bad point you make.

@@dannevangseninc9379 I would say that risks in games can be just as substantial as real life. If I pour 100+ hours into a hardcore world or into getting max gear in survival, only to lose it all because I got punished for dying, why does it matter that those hours were spent on a game vs spending those same 100+ hours irl (say opening a business that fails). In either case the time is wasted (besides gaining experience, which is true both in game and irl) since you lost the outcome. The fact that you CAN use bruteforce to beat something doesn't mean you HAVE to. Minecraft's entire game is built on that it doesn't tell you want to do. However, having a massive risk for dying means that it does tell you want to do: don't die. The difference between keep inventory and creative is that keep inventory has difficulty, creative doesn't. It is still hard to beat the ender dragon (and even harder if you are trying to not die while doing it), but that isn't true in creative, since you can't die. Keep inventory allows you to die and fail, without getting punished for it. Also, I disagree that keep inventory makes the game easier. No mobs are stronger, no more damage is dealt, etc. Hardcore deletes the entire world. What is the difficulty of a world that you can't play? That question doesn't make sense - it is like asking what flavor of cheese the Moon has. The Moon doesn't have cheese, so the question doesn't make sense. In the same way, you can't play the world anymore, so asking what the world's difficulty is doesn't make sense. In addition, people play differently depending on how much risk there is, so they will make it easier on themselves if there is more risk, and harder if there isn't (and the people that just want the easiest possible experience probably want keep inventory anyway). Think doing a no armor/totem/half heart game. In hardcore, you are going to play extremely cautiously, making sure to block up every area so mobs can't attack you. With keep inventory, you can still play aggressively, resulting in the challenge actually making it much more likely you will die.

We will never come to an agreement here because we are both right. For me keep playing with keep inventory on is the same as playing in creative mode. What you think is lost time after dying in hardcore, I think as time well spent. And with what I mean with keep inventory on being easier is that I am not a cautious person while playing. If I die in some caves I will likely never find my loot which means I have to start over. I 100p understand your perspective, but that’s just not how I enjoy Minecraft.

I personally view it as: I want to challenge myself/enjoy the game/do what I want: keep inventory Suffering/no challenge: drop/delete inventory/hardcore. I also kinda view deleting and dropping inventory as roughly equivalent in this since if you gather your dropped items it is almost the same as keep inventory, so the main risk is that you will lose your items if you die for both cases.

I don't think it is harder. It is riskier, yes, but not harder. Where is the increased difficulty? The mobs aren't stronger, you don't take more damage. The only difference between the modes is when you die. With hardcore you lose the world. What is even the difficulty after you lose the world? You literally can't play it, so it doesn't even make sense to assign a difficulty to it, a bit like asking what flavor the cheese the Moon is made of tastes like; there is not Moon cheese, so asking what flavor it is doesn't make sense in the same way asking what difficulty not being able to play the game is. "to call hardcore not harder because of what you COULD do is not a strong or valid argument." I think this is a valid argument. With keep inventory, dying doesn't make much of a difference. With normal survival, you potentially lose all your items. In hardcore you lose everything. To say that these levels of risk don't affect how people play is false. For example, why don't hardcore players simply try to fight the warden without armor or trapping it, with no practicing outside the world? Simple, they will very likely lose their world. Why don't players blitz into Bastions (without speedrunning experience) without armor or going slow? Simple: the risk of losing stuff is too great, so they don't want that much difficulty. With keep inventory, players can experience the difficulty they want. Sure, some players might not want extra difficulty, but I would bet that those players would especially want keep inventory, although I can't speak for them. However, to say that the hardest way to play the game is Hardcore is false, since players always adapt to their circumstances, balancing difficulty and risk, or else lose everything very quickly.

As I explained in the video, risk and difficulty are not equivalent, not even close. Difficulty is "what is the likelihood that I will succeed?". Risk is "what is the punishment if I fail?". Playing Hardcore normally is WAY easier than keep inventory with no armor, no totem, etc. Sure the risk for hardcore is greater, but that doesn't have any effect on the difficulty. As you mentioned, with keep inventory you can run into any situation knowing there is no risk of losing anything. This feature allows you to raise the difficulty up to a level for your enjoyment (by doing say no armor, no totem, etc), rather than either not doing these challenges or by playing extremely passively to negate the point of playing the challenges (say by making sure no mob ever gets close enough to hit you by blocking up all caves/open areas/etc).

I fully agree with you. I don’t know the last time I used keep inventory because it’s ez and let’s be honest if your good you don’t use keep inventory because it’s for noobs that actually need it. It’s under cheats for a reason.

You can respawn without keep inventory too, it is just less convenient, requiring all your levels and an ender chest. Regardless, I think that more transportation options in a game that is both 3d and infinite is good, not bad. For fighting a warden/wither, it allows you to actually fight them blind, instead of having to prep tons to reduce the challenge (which doesn't have risk anyway since most probably do it by watching videos or making traps in creative).

I never build any automated farms or anything and I've also never looked up how to beat something as it doesn't feel like I truly did it. the first time I fought the bedrock wither I did it with a friend in full netherite and we spawned it in a cave. It felt great knowing that I can still actually die and fear of losing my stuff. With that being said, I didn't watch your video. I just saw the title and commented. As for the ender chest. if you have a full inventory it is highly unlikely you'll have enough space as you have to account for your armor and your off-hand

@@bopp_bipp8315 The ender chest can store enough if you have shulker boxes, I was more saying that you can't take the ender chest with you. Yes if you like the risk then keep inventory takes that away, the video mostly argues that it allows you to make the game's difficulty align with your enjoyment levels, rather than simply reducing risk by having max gear on at all times, for example.

This is the correct answer. Games are designed with an intended play style in mind. Countless interactions between the player mobs and items change when you lose having death be a consequence. It’s the same thing with the Dark Souls franchise. Why not add an easy mode? The people will argue this all day but it ruins the point the game wants to force on you which is that you need to rise to the occasion and overcome odds that seem unlikely. It’s the same for Minecraft for the reasons you’ve pointed out bopp.

Yeah it is really dumb that it is a cheat with Bedrock. However, I think there is a way to glitch it in so you can have it on but still get achievements - I am going to try to figure it out!

Not necessarily true. I'm not gonna change your mind but I'll say how I think. I use keep inventory because I have not all, but most achievements and beat the game in hard mode. Having keep inventory is just nice too have on sometimes

They probably play the game, then forget what new players actually need to know, so they end up just listing everything and forgetting essential items xD. In fairness to them, I doubt they were suggesting raw meat, although it would have been good for them to at least tell players to cook it first. Shields 100% should have been mentioned, netherite is probably best left off since bastions imo are harder than trial chambers (although it didn't seem like they were concerned with that lol). Basic enchants should have been at least mentioned, although if you have a maxed-level protection villager then nothing else really matters lol. Water bucket and blocks (and probably a lava bucket also) would be also really helpful for them to mention.

The guides not including stone armor was 100% a sin Also im pretty sure that java also shows weapon dmg and I feel like the complaint about the leather armor was more at the option being included in the first place since honestly including leather and gold armor feels like its just padding out the article

@@CoolKiller28 Stone armor doesn’t exist… but anyways, the leather armor is only there to tell you why you shouldn’t use it, saying “it won’t hold off a determined enemy for long.”, and the gold armor has a similar comment, saying “You’ll be getting through a lot of it if you end up in a drawn-out fight”. And minecraft wouldn’t need to pad out their own article (unlike other news sites, who do pad out articles for more ad space).

I don't expect them to get into or even know about technical details (such as saturation, crossbows with fireworks, or even swords vs axes between versions, although that one less so since it is pretty obvious/important if you have played both versions). I do however think that, for the very reason you described, including downright *bad* options and/or *not* mentioning the *good/better* options (unless the good options are too technical, as previously mentioned) is bad. For example, cakes, milk buckets, leather and gold armor are just BAD advice for any new players. Yes, they mention that leather and gold are weak, but then why even mention them? These are listed as "guides", not wikis. Now, if they were to mention every single thing fine (I am fine with them mislabeling it a guide when it is just an facts-article), but that is why them leaving out stone sword is bad. Not because new players should be using it, but rather because they *did* list *worse* alternatives (wood and gold swords). I would rather them just list iron and diamond for both armors and swords, but the fact they listed worse alternatives is the problem I have with these articles, since it overloads new players with bad advice at the cost of actual useful advice. I think I addressed everything, lmk if I missed anything. Also I think it is worth noting that I was trying out a new style for this video, and I am not usually this aggressive about something. As bad as I think the articles are, I don't particularly care about them that much and just wanted to make an entertaining video about them (I mean, it isn't like they are going to see this video anyway lol). I tried to still be fair in my critique, but since you said you didn't like it much I would appreciate any feedback you have so I can do better next time!

The read definitely feels like it, although I suspect that it is just a "write an article a week" position or something similar, and they for whatever reason don't play Minecraft regularly in survival. I don't see why anyone that hasn't bought Minecraft would read these if they are listed as a "guide", so I doubt it is an advertisement despite reading that way sometimes.

Probably just turning your graphics settings to minimum is best, as well as using a non-HD texture pack. Beyond those a texture pack doesn't do much imo.
