A couple of months back, one of our clients approached us. They were facing a major challenge with their packaging for honey in glass jars that were getting shattered while shipping.
The jars were first wrapped with multiple layers of bubble wraps. Then they were placed in a 3 ply corrugated box. After that, another corrugated box was added over this for further protection. Then the whole arrangement was taped and shipped.
Imagine the experience of the consumer while unpacking all of this.
But the worst part is that even after so much over-packaging the jars could still not be protected.
After several broken jars, we were called upon to see if there could be a solution to the problem.
It took us over a week of several iterations to figure out a solution. We were able to reduce the volumetric weight, remove all sorts of plastic and bubble wrap and reduce the packing time by half.
Only recycled paper was used to achieve all of this.
The drop test was performed at the client’s warehouse.
