Changing Transmission Fluid Hyundai Palisade I would never recommend a "Transmission Flush" only regular fluid changes at 30-50K If your already at or over 80k it is not recommended you do this since you can loosen dirt and debris that has nested in the nooks and crannies inside the transmission.

    Hi! I loved your video. I used VALVOLINE MAXLIFE ATF Multi Vehicle. Do you think it was good move? Because I noticed the transmission not shifting properly at around 25 to 40 MPH. Not sure if the oil os low or the type of oil used. But I did wait until the oil stopped draining like you said and then put the cover on. Will help a lot if someone can answer. Thanks

      I think the best one will be the Hyundai OEM. Because it's not synthetic after about 100k miles I realized that the synthetic oil it sort of leaking in-between the gaskets. Either that or the gaskets are crappy quality.

    • @mortirius1
      @mortirius1 Před 7 měsíci

      They're fine but after having 100k on the truck I've realized the gaskets are crappy I can see the oil coming threw just about on every seal on the car. I'm looking to trade it in. After working on the car myself and studying it closely I'm pretty sure it's designed to last about 120-150k then it will begin to have some catastrophic failures. The amount of gear oil on the rear transfer case is less than a half quart. There's too much plastic on the engine and the gdi injection system isn't the best idea for longevity.

    FWIW, trans fluid turns brownish much earlier than 30k miles. That isn't an indicator the fluid is bad. But it's not a bad idea to change it at least every 60k...even my Hyundai dealer told me this when I bought a used 2013 Elantra from them (which, by the way, has the same identical fluid change process). Good video!

    • @mortirius1
      @mortirius1 Před 10 měsíci

      We're at 140k miles with the palisade and so far no issues. I's never been to a trip to the dealer. The only thing I've done is change the oil every 3-4k miles with penzoil. I was using amsoil until right after the virus but they upped their price and it's just too expensive now when compared to buying penzoil from Walmart online. Also been doing the trans fluid every 30-40k and I did the transfer cases at around 70k. I haven't changed the plugs because I took them out and they looked in excellent condition. Ive also some the valve cleaning service with seafoam, CRC and one time with the atscarbonclean.com. Although I haven't looked at the valves with a camera. The car is running smooth and strong so I don't think there's any compression issue. I've changed the front brakes and discs once and the rear once as well. Although the rear didn't need it. The cars been really good so far. My only complaint is that the Bluetooth cuts in and out sometimes. We've tried different phones removing /adding them but to no avail. I think we're actually going to look into selling it because the kids are growing out of the third row. So family trips are getting pretty tight.

    • @tomarmfield8093
      @tomarmfield8093 Před 10 měsíci

      Update: I completed the fluid replacement and you're right, it's just as easy if not easier than changing the oil. The wort part of this job, and with changing the oil as well, is having to remove the fairings/undercovers. By the way, my fluid was as dark as used motor oil and the magnetic plug was completely covered with shavings. Based on this, I will most likely be changing the fluid every 20-25K miles, which will coincide with about every third oil change.

      one of several reasons. It is important to check the tightness of the lug bolts as well. If they are loose they will round out and wobble. If you have steel rims you can repair this by welding correct size washers to the rim .

      I'm not sure it was a hundred bucks they'll do the same thing. However I have read somewhere that the way the engine is designed it doesn't spit that much oil back in to the motor. And there's never a lot of oil in that can either. I'd say every 6,000 miles I probably get less than an ounce. I'm not sure if it's truly worth it. To disrupt the system

    The total transmission oil capacity is approximately 6.9 quarts. So this methods is only half of the fluid. Technically you should have drained it, add new fluid. Drive the vehicle to operating temperature and then drain it again. Also there is a transmission filter that probably should be changed as well. Using amsoil is the way to go and your change interval times are doubled. Great video!!

    • @mikeg3529
      @mikeg3529 Před 11 měsíci

      I can't speak of this particular transmission, however I know on some ford transaxles the filter cannot reasonably be replaced. The whole transmission needs to be removed and case needs to be split in order to access. The way I look at it, if you keep up with fluid changes there's no reason that filter should ever become clogged. If the transmission does produce enough metal shavings and clutch material to clog that filter its going to need replacement/rebuild anyway, replacing the filter at that point won't save it.

We will be getting a Telluride in 2023 after a 12-15mo estimated delivery delay. I plan on swapping out to Amsoil fluid at 5-10k to get the initial material from break-in out of the transmission. BTW, the Amsoil Multi "ATF" is not the right fluid for this car. Amsoil High Efficiency "ATL" is the one that meets the Kia/Hyundai SP-IV standard for the Palisade and Telluride transmission fluid.
