It was really interesting following your thoughts on those topics. I think it's a great attempt to encourage the students to read and watch more, this will help them a lot. And I totally agree, errors are such an important part of language learning, they shouldn't be judged in that negative way. I often had bad grades in school at language learning because of the error rate in my writing and so I thought I can't learn languages because I am not talented. But this is so wrong. I love learning languages nowadays and I would say I am really not bad at it. Mistakes are just normal part of the process. You don't need talented to lean a language, just motivation and preferably fun 😉👌

I wouldn't teach the word "gripping" to 6th graders. That word wouldn't be used by many native speaking 6th graders. "Exciting" would be more likely.

Grading is hard. And I agree with you that it's not a good idea to give grades based on being error-free, since that will discourage taking the risks that are important in language learning. I have been trying to think of ways to set specific goals-to demonstrate certain skills in order to get a specific grade. It's hard. (I'm not teaching at all currently and haven't taught in a conventional school since 1996, but I still think about it!)
