The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum (nicknamed baseball's last dive bar) is a multi-purpose stadium in Oakland, California. It's been home to the Oakland Athletics since 1968, but the team plans on leaving the stadium after the 2024 season to relocate to Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Oakland Coliseum is one of the nation's last remaining cookie-cutter stadiums (a trend popular in the 1960s-1970s) that allowed multiple professional sports teams to share the same facility. It was home to the NFL's Oakland Raiders from 1966-1981 and 1995-2019, who also left the Bay Area in favor of Las Vegas.
The stadium has undergone many changes throughout its life, most notably the 1995 addition of 20,000+ outfield seats to re-attract the Raiders. This section is known as Mt. Davis, and the monstrosity of seats ruined the beautiful mountain views A's fans had grown to love for decades. The fans and players love to criticize the Coliseum's current state as an outdated and neglected cavernous concrete structure, but I've loved this place my whole life. It's the last truly authentic and corporate-less stadium where you can enjoy the game without all the gimmicks you'll find at modern ballparks.
It has previously been known as the Network Associates Coliseum, McAfee Coliseum, O.co Coliseum, and the RingCentral Coliseum.
