We continue our series on the five pillars of Islam, which are practices and beliefs that unite all Muslims throughout the entire world. We look at "Salat" today, which is often translated "prayer" but has a very different character than what Christians think of when we say that word.

I, as a member of the humankind, have difficulties comprehending the IDF’s culture of infanticide. I, by the same token, really can’t understand the motives of the war crimes influencers flooding the cyberspace. Hey Israel and its western backers, leave those kids alone.

    As a non-Zionist, accepting that Christ was/is the fulfilment of the prophesies refereed to (Ezekiel and Zechariah), and accepting the Bible as the inerrant word of God, I find it troubling that Zecharia 14 is considered too difficult to deal with (I can't deal with it either). Since the majority of prophetic scripture clearly points to Christ at his first coming, and since Christian Zionists tend to deny the fulfilment of these Scriptures in Christ at his first coming, is it reasonable, for the sake of unity (i.e we all accept the Bible as inerrant) to consider Zionists as friends?

    • @drduanemiller
      @drduanemiller Před 6 měsíci

      Hello Mike. I don't have any particular comments on Zechariah 14 and don't really see how it is difficult. If you can be more specific I will try to answer. I absolutely am glad to work with Christians who are Zionists. I regard the matter is a secondary one, at least outside of Israel-Palestine. When you live in the land and work there it is much more sensitive, but here in Spain, where I live now, it is not an issue of primary importance. Thanks for your comment.

      See Revelation chapters 21 and 22 if you want to understand the change in lighting and waters described in Zech. chapter 14. Who is the tabernacle of the New Covenant and what is the feast celebrated with His people? New Covenant Whole Gospel: Who is now the King of Israel in John 1:49? Is the King of Israel now the Head of the Church, and are we His Body? Why did God allow the Romans to destroy the Old Covenant temple and the Old Covenant city, about 40 years after His Son fulfilled the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 in blood at Calvary? What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word. Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below. Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth. Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD: Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8, 3:16? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24. 1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. The following verses prove the Holy Spirit is the master teacher for those now in the New Covenant. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. Hi Kurt. Good points. Can you point me to three or four phrases from the Pope's recent motto prop that are concerning to you? It is quite hard to read what all of this is really about. As you can tell I think contextual theology can really make a contribution to the Church's life. But as with so many things in Christianity, it can easily become dumbed down and just used as an excuse to say, "This is part of my context, I'm going to be nice and do X, Y or Z." Without really thinking through the World or the Word.

    • @kurthein
      @kurthein Před 8 měsíci

      @@drduanemiller Let's look at point 8, quoted below: 8. It is a matter of the pastoral “stamp” that theology as a whole, and not only in one of its particular spheres, must assume: without opposing theory and practice, theological reflection is urged to develop with an inductive method, which starts from the different contexts and concrete situations in which peoples are inserted, allowing itself to be seriously challenged by reality, in order to become discernment of the “signs of the times” in the proclamation of the salvific event of the God-agape, communicated in Jesus Christ. Therefore, it is necessary that the knowledge of people’s common sense, which is in fact a theological place in which so many images of God dwell, often not corresponding to the Christian face of God, only and always love, be privileged first of all. Theology is at the service of the Church’s evangelization and transmission of faith, so that faith becomes culture, that is, the wise ethos of God’s people, a proposal of human and humanizing beauty for all. I believe that in the wrestling with God's world and God's word, the world and word are not equal "combatants." God's word is primary. If the incarnation is our template, the Fathers are very clear that the Word never changed, but rather humanity changed when the Word took on flesh and dwelt among us. The Word is eternal and immutable. Humanity is not. It seems that Francis goes even further than seeing word and world as equals, but actually begins his theology by giving preference to the world and then works backward to the word. This in effect will make theology a pragmatic tool to get conversions or buy-in from "the world". He says as much, "Theology is at the service of the Church's evangelization..." There is much more I could say, but perhaps we should do that offline. Also, could you pls email me the articles mentioned in your video? Thanks.

    What about contextual theology for the Holy Land?

    • @drduanemiller
      @drduanemiller Před 8 měsíci

      There are several visions of this theology already at play, including liberation theologies of Palestine and others. For a liberation theology see the work of Naim Ateek, an anglican priest. I'm not sure if he's alive anymore but he was very active in his day and I had the chance of meeting him. What are other visions? There are Arab dispensationalists, which I don't find convincing personally. My guess is there is no political solution at all for the Holy Land, where I lived for years, and that this is a great testimony against the ambitious political idols erected in the 20th Century.

    Obviously ... Stupidity.... Fraud and Nonsense! The Bible/Torah/Koran books were not handed to mankind by any gods, nor were they dictated to human stenographers by any gods, all written by men.! The Olden Testes Bible/Torah were just fables from the Stone Ages by oral tradition, the Bible, a book of fables, was VOTED on by a group of men after the 4th century; the Koran was just the copied and demented dogma of a selfish and petty violent despot. There are no gods! [btw - any objections to these historical facts must be accompanied with evidence to prove the existence of any gods or allahahas claimed]

    I listened to our interview again yesterday, and everything I answered is spot on for the most part, except for one area where I mentioned that there are 4 sessions in the General Conference whereas before there were 5 sessions. As it turned out shortly afterward they announced that the church would reinstate the 5th sessions for General Conference. So, there pretty much always had 5 sessions of General Conference, except for a space between 2-3 weeks between announcements that they would remove the 5 session and then bring it back. Sorry, I'm a stickler for accuracy.

    If you could reach 1k subscribers you will have access to google data analytics and you could start to monetize the content that you publish, even if you get paid just very little. $100 USD per month goes a long way when in comparison to $0. Focus on growing your channel... ask your family and friends to subscribe to it. As long as you have 1k subscribers this will open you to the next level with unique feedback that CZcams offers to its content creators. Not so sure how familiar with this, or if you know of users who have more than 1k subscribers to their channels.

    I think Matthew 1:24 is pretty clear in saying Joseph "knew her not" until after she had given birth. There are references in the scriptures that he had brothers and sisters. James and Joses being 2 of them. Thanks for your information. I am fond of the Catholic church but just can't go along with some of their doctrines. That's why I'm hear, looking for information on the Anglican church.

      But then does the text that he did 'know her'? It doesn't. Also, you don't understand the cultural meaning of brothers in the text. First century Jews didn't speak like 21st C. Americans. Seriously.

    Thanks to both Duane and Matt for such a wonderful chat. I especially appreciated the discussions on how to engage in Patristic studies. Matt, you mentioned 5th century, but what about 2nd century? For example, a figure like Theophilus of Antioch and his To Autolycus? By the way, I am really intrigued by Davenant Hall and the partnership with Union Theological College in Belfast. I am doing an MA in WTS, and hopefully I can become Ph.D. advisee material.

      They both serve the same purpose, more or less. They lead the church in worship, teach the word of God, and care for the souls of the people around them. Normally, Protestants tend to use the word pastor, and Catholics and Orthodox tend to use priest.

    La revelación de Dios es progresiva. En el AT se dan señales de la venida del Mesías, con Jesús uno puede entender plenamente los signos de Dios. Jesús es el Israel perfecto. En el AT, Israel nación, el hijo predilecto de Dios, da la espaldas en numerosas ocasiones a Dios. Israel es la viña, es el hijo que atraviesa el mar de cañas liberado por Dios, lucha con Dios y lo vence. Jesús es Israel Persona, la viña a la que pertenecen los sarmientos, que atraviesa el Jordán bautizado por el Bautista, que ayuna 40 días en el desierto, que lucha con Dios en el Getsemaní, que sufre como siervo en la Cruz y que construye su templo en 3 días en su resurrección. Interesante la visión más bíblica pero menos conocida de que Israel no es la Iglesia per se, sino Cristo, cuyo cuerpo sí que lo constituye la Iglesia., que es además su esposa. Dios no ha abandonado a su pueblo porque Jesucristo es Israel.
