Revisiting this song after 11 years. I stand by everything i said when i was a highschool kid. I drink more than i should, i love to have fun. This song is still absolutely terrible. Listen to Guardians from front to back, and this song is a joke. It makes me sick its the same band.

An open letter/discussion to anyone wanting to know what happened to this band. I remember my first time discovering these guys in the Christian rock section of a Lifeway, the shit blew me away. I didn't see myself as much of a fan of anything that ended with 'core' but these guys were one of my few exceptions. Then a few years later- and this video came out... these guys made a fun music video of them drinking and having a good time which basically ruined their reputation in the Christian genre. The Christian media and metal community caught wind of this video and collectively lost their shit. They were relentless in their pursuit to ruin this band. First they removed the band's music from any and every form of Christian media that Christianity had to offer them. They basically banned the band from getting any form of advertising which killed the band's publicity, then the ultra puritans set their sites on the band's financial endeavores, threatening to boycott any christian rock venue that allowed these guys on the band roster which obviously took away their bread and butter. Not long after the singer's "fall from grace" Saud went on to spite the Christian fanbase in the form of his new (badass) band 'The Holy Guile'.
Excellent summary. Saud even had a whole blog where he’d respond to Christian apologists. I looked deeper into this and they never really were a Christian band to begin with, and Saud never even mentioned “Jesus” in any of his lyrics. They unfortunately came up in a time where the metalcore/hardcore scene was heavily influenced by radical Christianity and it was totally selling with the mainstream metalcore community. So it’s totally possible that they had themes related to spirituality to broaden their audience but it eventually bit them in the ass.
Also, The Holy Guile was sick as fuck. Miss that band and I wish they were still on Spotify.

Actually a little behind, but very good for the genre. Bands like Devil Wears Prada (and a number of smaller bands that popped up after) had already covered this sort of sound by 2010.

@@Goopeyspooge He's fine. It's no biggie if you don't know your metalcore history. Also, TCA did form in 2007 from what I recall, because they made some earlier demos such as Kentucky Fried Chocobo, used to have them but they weren't anywhere as good as they were in Guardians.

@@666metalism8 I like some of The Holy Guile stuff, too. Guardians 2.0 was really good and a handful of tracks from the 2 albums they did after. Pacalypse for instance is one of my favourites

It's because it's a big departure from their debut. Sure it's more of a general moshcore song but I mean I've heard a lot worse imo. Guardians is definitely better but I mean I don't hate this. People also like to say that Guardians was super unique but it honestly wasn't. It sounds a lot like Apologies Are For the Weak by Miss May I as well as other bands from the time. I still like Guardians but it definitely wasn't really that unique.
