Welcome to BushwhackerOutdoors. We are Bob and Carla.
We decided to dip our toes into making videos because we spend a fair amount of time out on the water and thought why not share these experiences with others who have the same passion for fishing.
In these videos we hope to share some pointers on what we use for bait, rods, reels, etc. And the enjoyment that comes with being on the water, whether it be open water or frozen. Bob loves to ice fish, I do not, so there may be a few ice fishing videos popping up during the winter months.
You may also have the pleasure of watching me out fish Bob in some of these videos. We've been married 28 years he can handle the friendly competition.

We threw everything at them on this day, 7/22/20204, gulp minnows, ripping raps, jigging raps and gulp leeches. The leeches prevailed!

First lake we went to did not produce any fish. They were tough to find so we headed to a lake that we haven't fished in quite some time. We had a lot of rain lately...

Close call......(honk honk) The property owner on the lake was chasing geese off of her lawn. We were in the right place at the right time.

4th of July was poppin.... Crappie bite was subtle. They were not aggressively taking the bait. Some bites were barely noticeable. With the lack of wind, we had to use a slow retrieve and twitching the rod every now and then just to get their attention.

Fished a new lake today

Got in some quick fishing at a lake that we have not fished before. The bass was a nice surprise. He/She hit on a Berkley Gulp chartreuse minnow. It was BARELY hooked! Just the point of the hook was hooked into a small piece of skin
Leeches and Gulp for crappie and bluegill

Today we used leeches to catch crappie and bluegill. They seemed to work pretty well. The baby bass enjoyed it. We went back and forth using leeches and gulp minnows. Tell us in the comments section what your favorite bait is for catching panfish...
Shallow water crappies

We found the crappie in 5' of water. Caught mostly males that were quite aggressive with the bait landing in their home. Bent rods happening!

Fishing the day after Memorial Day. Fish were very skittish, but we managed to catch a few from the large schools that we were seeing on the fish finder. We were using St. Croix rods, Berkley Gulp chartreuse minnows, 1/64 oz jig under a slip bobber. Also using an extra rod as a dead stick with a jigging rap. The bigger crappie were hitting the dead stick.
