Fred Haywood 1984 interview at Weymouth Speed Week
zhlédnutí 468Před 4 lety
An interview I did with Fred Heywood at Weymouth Speedweek in 1984. Unfortunately the wind didn't blow. I was a student trying to decide whether to try for a job as a reporter or cameraman, went for cameraman. Was/am a keen windsurfer and even tried to convert a surfboard to look like Fred's. Really nice guy.

There's a article in kitplanes Magazine about how the original design was designed wrong, later fixed.
I have one!
If anyone on here , could tell us some more about Phil Balligand , that would be interesting , he seems like a very capable person. Would be interesting to know what other machines he built , and what happened that he ended up crashing. Thanks in advance.
Very tidy little aircraft with some beneficial modifications.
Its a great plane, I had one for 10 years.
So cool. History
lot of headless people living in weymouth at that time..
Phil was for us a very sweet Friend , enjoy, fairplay, enthousiast. his knowledges and experiences professionnal aero was great....Bad day, no luck, Engine problem, at the bad area ( hangar zone..),.. and little Mto....
Would be cool to hear some more about Phil.
Strange - his accent rotated between Serbian, Australian and South African.
thats how a german sounds😂😂
Always check your center of gravity and maintain that air speed.
Hi Valentino!!! How r u?? Chris
красавелло ,хуле
Why in the world didn't he do weight and measure to find out the CG was too far aft? That is a tragedy...I would do the Weight and balance before flying any plane homebuilt
so does that mean he was nose heavy? 1.6%
@mrhulot101 The accident was a combination of bad weather, still willing to fly home and too low height (flying below low clouds). Sadly he had not enough height to recover from a heavy turbulence. The day of his death there was a fierce storm over Belgium. So it sad to say, but ...it was a pilot error. He should have stayed on the ground.
Could you post some more info about Phil and the planes he built, would be awesome to learn more.
@mrhulot101 I believe he was killed flying this flea.
did he die in the flea or a non airplane accdent?
