How to Get Free Plants? #freegardenhack #budgetgardeningideas #gardening
In this short, I told how to get free plants during the mid-summer. This is frugal gardening at the highest level. I went to the local feed and seed store, and they asked customers to take free plants away. The feed and seed stores are in the process of replanting for the second half of the summer. The plants need some TLC but I will still be able to get free vegetables from them. This is one of the best budget gardening ideas around. You might get a major discount if your feed and seed store are not giving them away. It is great to know all the garden hacks to get free transplants.

After this next batch I’ll just use the old soil to fill holes in the backyard or dump at the bottom of my raised beds! Also as long as your potatoes doesn’t have any disease issues such as blight, the soil is good to reuse. Also after you plant potatoes you can plant beans and peas in the potato soil and they will clean the soil up. It’s all about crop rotation! Happy Growing

    Tiny potatoes are delicious when cooked with fresh green beans, onion, and bacon! If I have fresh peas I throw them in too! That’s a great meal!

      HEY, Trish!!! I will definitely give that a try with the green beans and onions. Thanks for the tip.

      HEY, Freddie!!! I don't think most people have it. My kids have turtles, so I clean out the shelter and drain all the water and poop out. That is my fertilizer. I used to pour it out, and I noticed the grass growing tall in that area, I said it's the turtle water.

    I recently decided to try this soil because of a certain ingredient it has that Ive heard good things about. Starts with an M. Anyway my two baby strawberries died after transplanting. The stuff does not hold moisture well at all. I decided to do an experiment growing greenbean seeds using Happy frog in one set and miracle grow in another. So far the MG seeds are sprouting strong and nothing sprouting in the HF. Maybe a bad batch but I have yet to have success with this soil and multiple other plants & seedlings. Will not waste my money on it again.

      HEY, Shananna!!! WOW! I'm sorry to hear that. Yes, if it'd not working for you, you have to try something new. I have not had that problem, I was just thinking it's time for me to buy some more. I have been using it for 3 years now. Thanks for letting me know.

    I started in mid just and I am is a pot can I prune and get 2 mabe 3 watermelons off one vine or am delusional for my 1st?

    • @GrowSomethingTasty
      @GrowSomethingTasty Před 3 dny

      HEY Andre!!! You can get 3 melons on a vine, but they will be small. I normally do 1 melon per vine. You are in pots, so I don't know how many or how big they will be. You will need to feed them well. I did start one melon plant in a grow bag just to see how I would do because of the voles. I hear gardeners grow some nice watermelons in pots, but I have not tried until now. I would not do 3 on a vine. If you have more than one plant, you can experiment and see what happens.

    First time trying to grow watermelon… my question is, is it 80-90 days from flower or from first sight of fruit?

    • @GrowSomethingTasty
      @GrowSomethingTasty Před 3 dny

      HEY, Stephanie!!! It means that from time, you plant the plant. I think it's just to give you a range. I would look for the belly turning yellow, the tendril turning brown, and the days the plant was put in the ground.
