Did you get your tundra at gregory hills toyota? Cus I know that they have the lexus and toyota dealerships combined into one building. But congrats though on your new tundra!
Are they gonna move the volume knob to the right?
Thanks for the tour. What we really need to know is the weights. Regards.
Thanks Graeme, The ATM for this van is 3,500 kg
The only payload data I could find is 758kg. Taking into account trailer download of 350kg less fuel accessories and people this only leaves 100 kg for anything else or nothing if you were to max out the claimed towing of 450 kg download
For a useful video on towing performance, you should've stated the trailer weight and tongue weight as tested. Include comments on how much the Tundra squatted when loaded. Tundra tow capasity as tested and milage based on weight of trailer. That's the information viewers appreciate.
Great video! Would love to see some day to day content as well, perhaps in a carpark situation as a daily driver
Great video mate. Nice to see a real world, seat of the pants evaluation by a consumer rather than a journo. We are considering upgrading from our 2010 200 series to a Tundra IF they become generally available next year.
I’m from the states now living in Queensland. I can tell you that the Tundra is like dime a dozen they’re everywhere and affordable. I’m surprised that Australia’s just now getting this truck. It is a beast. Only thing is you’re getting ripped off with the price just like everything else.
Who’s the idiot salesman
Toyotas BZ4X EV is $34K AUD in China, $74K AUD in Australia. What a pack of price gouging wank3r$ Toyota hold Aussies in contempt with their ongoing 'Toyota Tax" I wonder how much more Aussies pay for the Tundra over other countries?
Interesting job on getting a tundra any chance you can do a vid on interior layout and size say compared to a Hilux / VW
Clintons Toyota Lexus New Toyota/Lexus units
Ang bagong Toyota Tundra! Hindi lang sa Pilipinas, Australia lang.
Your knees rubbing the dash will activate the airbag on a bumpy road😮
My knees are a long way from the dash! and I am 6'7"! A little more reading on how airbags are activated might be worthwhile too :)
How much
The Tundra is a great vehicle! Unfortunately we are gonna have a ton of recalls on this model, as the US is going through now. If not, then the waiting time to get one is going to quite long. Rest assured its not a purely Toyota problem, per say.
If they brought them to the uk I'd be at the front of the queue
Funny a renown company like Toyota has learnt to provide a switch to turn off the chimes.
Another piece of polluting junk dumped on Australia......
What was the price? Would have to be $160 000?
That Chrome definitely has to go!
Good stuff, helpful. Cheers.
150k? pass
Basic Toyota isn’t it
Does the tundra have I think it is called a 5th wheel hich
I don't believe that any of the half ton pickups offer fifth wheel prep from the factory. It is possible to add an aftermarket fifth wheel hitch to a half ton, but the half ton segment (class 2A) is not big enough to make it worth while. Fifth wheel hitches weigh between 150 and 250 lbs (gooseneck conversions - ie goosebox - save this much payload) and carry a higher percentage of the trailer weigh (15 to 30%) on the tow vehicle. This quickly uses up all of the available payload of a half ton. Depending on the size of your trailer, a 3/4 ton, 1 ton SRW, 1 ton DRW or higher would be a better choice.
Can you tell how it compares to the new 300
Have you towed the Zone RV 19ft with the tundra as yet. How does it go with ride height with the higher drawbar and ball weight?
Ball height is going to depend on the drop or rise of the hitch that you put in the receiver. Even with a 7" lift and 37" tires on my Ram 2500, the ball (conventional hitch) was no higher than it is on a stock F150. Lift will affect height for fifth wheel and goosenecks.
But you only have it for 12 months, don't you
Common thinking is that Graphite is a bad colour for Queensland. According to our high school physics, It supposedly absorbs more heat than white cars. Could you test it to see if it heats up more quickly and to a higher temperature if left in the sun than a white car? Another perception is that it is a more difficult car to see for older people because it melds in with bitumen colour. Can you test that?
Hi there, Thanks for the note! We did some research and came up with the below: The visibility of cars, regardless of their colour, can depend on various factors, including lighting conditions, weather, and the observer's visual acuity. However, it's generally accepted that lighter-coloured cars, such as white or silver, tend to be more visible in low-light conditions and may stand out more against certain backgrounds compared to darker-coloured cars. For older people, factors such as reduced contrast sensitivity and visual acuity could potentially make it more challenging to see darker-coloured cars, particularly in low-light situations. Lighter-coloured cars may offer better visibility due to their higher contrast against the surrounding environment. That said, it's essential to note that visibility depends on multiple factors, including the specific shade of colour, the presence of reflective materials or markings on the car, and individual differences in vision. While lighter colours may generally offer better visibility, it's not a strict rule, and other factors also play a significant role. Additionally, proper lighting, reflective materials, and other safety features on vehicles can greatly enhance their visibility regardless of their colour. With regard to heat and colour, while I can't conduct physical experiments (we’ve only got the one Tundra!), I can provide insights based on scientific principles. The idea that darker colors absorb more heat than lighter colors is generally accurate due to the concept of albedo, which refers to the reflectivity of a surface. Lighter colors, such as white, have higher albedo and reflect more sunlight, while darker colors, like graphite, have lower albedo and absorb more sunlight. As a result, in direct sunlight, a graphite-colored car is likely to absorb more heat compared to a white car. This means that the surface temperature of the graphite car will likely rise more quickly and reach a higher temperature than the white car when exposed to the same sunlight and environmental conditions. However, it's essential to note that this doesn't necessarily mean that owning a graphite-colored car in Queensland is impractical. Many factors, such as vehicle design, insulation, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, can influence the interior temperature of a car. Additionally, strategies such as using window shades or parking in shaded areas can help mitigate the heat absorbed by the car's exterior. Ultimately, while darker-colored cars may absorb more heat, other factors come into play in determining overall comfort and practicality in different climates. Hope that helps! :)
It's easy for you to test. Get a white painted piece of metal and another black painted piece of metal. Put them both outside in the QLD sun for an hour and I bet you the Black will feel hotter than the White!. All things being equal, It's got to do with higher reflectivity of light from lighter coloured surfaces, so less heat absorption.
Ther's little doubt about which would win. But higly reflective and metallic paints v dull, matt paints are variables that could affect the results, so I'd like to see the actual black and white cars tested. @@johncanalese588
darker colour absorb more heat than lighter ones. The lighter one do reflect more than absorb, so the darker ones will heat faster, same with house with darker metal roof like colorbond, we live in hot QLD weather, it feels much better thermal wise with white colorbond roof because it reflects not absorb, more energy efficient overall. If you live in colder states down south maybe its better to have darker colorbond roof, especially during winter, as the darker color will absorb and retain more heat to the inside of the house. it's the same principle more or less
Awesome video mate. what camera do you use?
Thanks for the note Jack. This was a Sony A7iii
Don’t compare it to the 200 it’s not trying to be one, it’s also not off-road vehicle it’s a long distance towing vehicle. Enjoy
Thanks for the note. As you say, one of the things the Tundras good at is as a Long distance tow vehicle… Which is exactly the 200 is / was. We’re making the comparison for no other reason than we want to ✌🏼
Good to have plenty of money $$$$$$$$
how long is Tundra ? I dont think it would fit standard double garage of most house in Australia, looks much longer than hilux
Just under 6m. Let’s be honest… you can barely fit a forester in what’s now a “standard Aussie garage” www.carsales.com.au/editorial/details/2025-toyota-tundra-australian-specifications-143747/
@@offgridoutfitters wow, 5.995 m in length that's very long, my husband is a builder, and most aussie garage size is like 6m clear from inside the wall, he drives Mitsu Triton I think its like 5.3m long and he doesn't even bother to park inside garage, just on our carport in the driveway 😂
@@roselynveren5022 Wait until we start sending you the large pickups. I believe that the longest one right now is a little over 22 feet/6.75m.
It's sounding like these are the few they have been testing and no clear availability to Australian motorists . Most likely feedback is it will not be cheaper than the brand new Ford F150 in base trim or Ram V8 . Tundra looks really good has great features but price and availability may be the killer .If there is not a good supply of these the prices will be astronomical .
There are 300 of them for a pretty well publicised 12 month trial period. That is, released out into the wild and able to be utilised by people as they would normally to provide feedback on any improvements and so Toyota can assess the suitability overall. I would suggest, that this is the most thorough, and comprehensive roll out of any American ute into the Australian market. As a buyer, I appreciate the lengths they are going too! Given the effort and cost involved in Toyota getting this far with the program, I can't imagine they would be doing all of this to not release them! Just need to be patient. It will come!
The Ram v8 is going away. Tundra is the same class as the F150, and Ram 1500.
Awesome mate, thanks for the info. Do you know when these are going to be made available to the public?
It’s not 100% clear, as it depends on the results from this trial period as to if Toyota will release to the public. But the consensus is sometime in the next 18 months
I got the f150 3.5 l with a basic remap pushing out 400 Kw 860 NM and getting 12.4 l /100 Similar power could be achieve with the tundra
We drove the F150 while in the US. Also an awesome engine / gearbox combo! Great torque and tonnes of power.
@@offgridoutfitters If you make it back in the US in the Washington DC area you are welcome to try out my F450.
I'm guessing 200k and I cannot imagine the cost and wait for parts etc.....
I needed a bit of an obscure part (front grill - was my fault), and was in stock in Sydney. This isn’t Toyotas first rodeo 👍🏼
U mentioned u will get yrs of use from it but my understanding is at the end of the trial period it has to be handed back?
Not my cup of tea, but to each his own i guess
I call bs on the economy. Fill your tank do 100k trip & fill the tank again & show us. Your dash will tell u what u want to see
Ok, of course it’s all bs… Why would the metrics be off? And how do you know the petrol station flow meter is accurate?
I’ve got no reason to BS. But fuel economy is one of those subjects where there’s plenty of experts opinions out there. Can only tell you what we’ve found so far in the 1300km we’ve driven with it! 🤷🏼♂️ As I said, don’t take it as gospel, and don’t get bent out of shape over it!
I run a 5.7hemi - 26L/100 with the van (3.3t), 17 around town, 12-13 highway (no tow). Figures seem very real to me.
@@chrisandshazza01 The 5.7 hemi is notoriously thirsty. I had a 2003.5 Hemi and it loved fuel. My last truck (2011 Ram 2500 diesel) got much better mileage in every situation than the Hemi ever did.
Twin turbo Amarok? Where can I get that?
4 cylinder Amaroks are twin turbo
Can you give us the GCM and GVM? Cheers
The music 😭but great info thx for making the vid.
Is Joe Biden working at a Toyota dealership now?
What sort of towing mirrors are you driving around with on the tundra as does not look like you have any.Are they legal
Standard mirrors. Seemed to work pretty well 👍🏼 Haven’t measured them or looked at them in great detail
@@offgridoutfitters so driving around illegally and will get booked if pulled over
Not heading down that rabbit hole arguing about legalities. Enjoy your Sunday! ✌🏼
Dozen lobsters?.. not Tassie ones mate you’ll get two in it……
