today we demo an ofdm system for tx text message. using many sine waves and bpsk modulation. this simple setup shows the real details needed for decoding ofdm symbols. github link for project: github.com/DrSDR/IQ-OFDM-Project

i used a usb to ethernet adapter and plugged the ethernet cable direct to red pitaya or trx duo. to setup the sd card for the red pitaya or trx duo, see the tech minds youtube video, he shows how to setup the sd card to run pavel demin's firmware which works for gnuradio. enjoy

Is this a phasing SSB exciter?
@@paulmaine6433 yes
@@TheGmr140 can you please create narrow and wideband FM flowgraphs for the Duo? I have started adding videos and the first ones were replicating what you have shown in your video. I will build upon what you have done. I’m a software guy and will be adding PA and filters and a coax relay so I can actually use on HF ham bands. Thanks again!!
@@paulmaine6433 I can add nbfm and wbfm
@@TheGmr140 you’re the best!
Can you please add the new flowgraphs sometime this weekend? Thank you in advance
Taylor Barbara Walker John Moore David
Hi Dr SDR! I just replicated your AM modulation demo. My Siglent spectrum analyzer shows the peak to be a little lower than 27MHz. The frequency offset did not seem to work while the flowgraph was running. Any ideas?
@paulmaine6433 in the sink block just change the 27mhz to add the offset, to add 100khz , set to 27.1mhz
Taylor Michelle Martinez George Thompson Joseph
Hi Dr Moonshine! I am anxious to get your flowgraph files as soon as you can work into your busy schedule.
@paulmaine6433 added trx duo files, posted on my github page
@@TheGmr140 Excellent! Please remind me about your GitHub page. Thank you!
@@TheGmr140 I found you files on GitHub- DrSDR
Can you consider creating a TRX DUO video that tests receive and maybe compare to Airspy HF+?

How can I get your GNU Radio files?
@paulmaine6433 I post them to github, what files you want?
@@TheGmr140 All the examples in this video and also wideband and narrowband FM. Do you have a Patreon page or some other way that I can send some money to support your channel?
@paulmaine6433 nah, I good, I post the files

Can you point me to a source of a power amp that could bump the power to at least a few watts?

Dr Moonshine - I have purchased an HP 8657A signal generator ( 0.1-1040 MHz )! I am now setup to do a bunch of your learn by doing experiments!
@paulmaine6433 glad to hear, hp made some great signal generator
Why is this not a good receiver? It has 16bit ADC and does direct sampling.
@@paulmaine6433 never tested it
Now all the cb'ers are going to ask you how many pounds it will swing lol. And I just got down haha.
Спасибо.

Excellent.
Awesome. I really like seeing the gnu radio stuff building modulators etc thank you. So the Hermes Lite2 has a 12-bit DAC while the Trx-Duo has a 14-bit DAC. What does the extra 2 bits in the Duo's DAC get you (or just in general when speaking of DACs for radio purposes)?
@youtubeaccount931 14 bits has higher dynamic range
@youtubeaccount931 I have to test this Hermes 2, however if no gnuradio support, then I not really interested, I need units with total iq streaming control. 😅😅
@@TheGmr140 my other comment dissappeared. was sayin there is gr-hermeslite2 that "sinks one 48k sample rate transmit complex stream".
@@TheGmr140 Ok I am used to the concept of dynamic range as it applies to receivers and sensitivity etc but not as it applies in transmitters.
@youtubeaccount931 I found a gr Hermes block someone wrote for gnuradio. Sounds like I getting a Hermes lite 2, to test in moonshiners radio labs
Moonshine IQ is very impressive!
Flex sux, Moooonshine Radio rules!!
Nice job. I liked.
If you happen to be running a newer Ubuntu based variant, and installed GNURadio via apt, you more than likely can install the gr-osmosdr package to get the blocks. It is certainly available in Ubuntu 24.04. I am a firm believer of people compiling from sources, etc, but this might be easier for some,
OK thanks, my gnuradio install didn't have the osmocom blocks installed
I think you can use scientific notation using 'e'? No? I may be misremembering.. it's been a few weeks since I've booted up GNU Radio..
I Like to play around in the HF band but this only goes as far as 70MHz. A bit overpriced for what it does in my opinion.
oh good happy to see you review pluto harmonic generator. This be made by the same guy as trx-duo, jinze peng (sp?)? Ok Thank you Moonshine Radio, happy Moonday
Good thing it doesn't support hf. Otherwise someone might actually buy one.
@@phillipneal8194 some mixer and filter to shift signal down to hf, but trx duo sdr good for hf TX
Exactly!
News services used a similar system on shortwave bands. It was common to see the photos in newspapers until the late ‘90s.
Have you covered cdma in your videos? I was reading about ka9q because of his software for rx888 weak signal modes etc but I guess he helped develop cdma
@youtubeaccount931 he didn't do CDMA, he has come up with polyphase tuners to tune into many signals at once, using light computer resources, rather impressive code, I wish hams would use it more, but most hams just click buttons on their radio. 🤣🤣🤣
@@TheGmr140 im installing it on arm64 rn
@@TheGmr140 his ka9q-radio documentation is scatterbrained
@youtubeaccount931 I have noticed that, I surprised you found that, not many are aware of ka9q stuff
I fired up my new TRX Duo today and put the file on an SD card. I set a static ip address and get the webpage at 192.168.1.100. I select HPSDR receiver. Next I start up PowerSDR. Can you please make a video on setting up PowerSDR for the TRX Duo?

What antenna do you use to transmit low frequencies? I am trying to transmit rfid about 5-10 ft.
@TM-nq4tt often a loop antenna is good for low frequency and short range
Thornton Melon was a little rough around the edges but, professor Turgenson recognized his potential! 😂 Dr. Moonshine, you need to add the HP8566B Spectrum Analyzer to your collection.

Thanks for the information . Hope to get a copy on you soon in DX. I hit the like and am following. 21 South Carolina, Old Radio Night
The difficulty was not designing a filter with low bandwidth in RF. The problem is that you would have to make it vary to cover the entire spectrum of interest.
What’s the max Tx power for the trx duo?
@@paulmaine6433 it seemed lower, -8dbm, though if I changed the gnuradio gain to 2, it went to -2dbm
@paulmaine6433 post your gnu script to your github and I'll edit them for trx duo
what you keep repeating is the very characteristic of a local oscillator (modulation); it is not just magic of IQ technique. very confusing...
I don't think this is not the real purpose of SDR. Who wants to place 2 separate signals like that?
