He's a astronomy teacher. Crap like the big bang or the history of a star isn't really physics. That's not the same as relativity. Relativity is physics. Your playing with clocks and exploring the fundamental laws of physics. That's like engineers build the telescopes or satellites. Neil Degrasse Tyson is an astronomer. He looks at stars, and tells stories. There is no story physics. Just like there is no story to a telescope. It works in all time. It's universal like physics. Saying crap like "where did matter come from and what happened before the big bang." isn't physics.

You know why NDT isnt a great physicist? Because he's not even a physicist. He's a cosmologist. He understands and practices the physics needed to do cosmology. Thats it. He doesnt need to do any thinking outsise of that, because that doesnt have anything to do with cosmology. "Physics" and "physicist" are such broad, umbrella terms that carey with them notions of academia that have NOTHING to do with each other. Both NDT and Sean Carroll are physicists in that both of their fields require an extensive understanding of, at the very least, basic physics and a capacity to do offhand calculations in those physics. However, NDT is exclusively a cosmologist and Sean Carroll is a quantum physicist. Both are physicists, but NDT doesnt need to do or even know and understand quantum mechanics in order to do his job, nor does Sean need to do or even know and understand cosmology to do quantum mechanics. It just so happens that Sean is BOTH theoretical physicist (specializing in quantum mechanics) and a cosmologist. The point is that the knowledge of one does not transfer to the other because they are so different. So when you say that "NDT isn't a good physicist" it's not even a statement that means anything, because physics is so broad. Like in what regard isn't he a good physicist? In his own field? He's actually one of the best. Not good in QM or theoretical physics? Okay, that's not his fucking department. Eric shouldn't be talking about physics anyways because he doesn't know a fucking thing about "physics", he's a mathematician. Mathematics gives you a range of possible solutions to any given mathematical problem. When you are solving problems that deal with physical reality, mathematics alone cannot determine which of those possible solutions is actually correctly describe the physical reality. In order to do that, you have to introduce the necessary and relevant constraints that arise from existing in physical reality and that's what physics is. Eric doesn't do physics, so he shouldn't fucking talking about it.

The scientific community is closed minded. Noone in the room wants to admit that they have been studying something that is wrong for half their lives. Look at the comment section of JRE Terrance Howard videos and you can see how anyone who has studied basic physics is vilifying Terrance for proposing a theory that doesn’t fall in line with their POV. I love how Eric Weinstein openly admits the science of physics has been stagnated and he is challenging his peers and calling out Neil Degrasse Tyson for helping to push the narrative that anything outside of the box is automatically bad or your stupid for not believing what is was taught in graduate programs.
