Great instructions 👍🏿👍🏿
Regards a right hand turn for a bus on a single lane roundabout; what would be the best position to be in once you have turned right onto the roundabout? Is it better to follow near the outside left curb of the roundabout during this manoeuvre before the right turn?
Sir may I know how to judge the left and right side of the vehicle kindly make a video on that
Hi well use the mirrors to see how far to the left and right you are within your lane. Remember your head is much higher and further to the right than when you are driving a car.
But ultimately it is down to peripheral vision and knowing where the left and right of the bus is while you are looking straight ahead.
I have my bus driving test tomorrow. Passed my reverse parking yesterday. Thanks for the tip
Thanks please share the videos to help grow the channel. Where are you learning?
Thank you very much for this explanation 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the comment. Which company are you training with?
@DrivingPsychology Arriva, something you said really helped me. I'm looking for tips on how to steer without having to constantly prevent the bus from pulling to the left.
@@redblue2723 The camber of the road will pull the bus to the left. Also your heads position in space means that you will default to what you recognise from driving a car. Meaning your head will tell you that you need to go back to the left. Just imagine driving your car with the passenger door wide open to get the idea?
@@redblue2723 Can you please share with all the trainees at arriva to help grow my channel? Thanks.
@DrivingPsychology Thank you for this advice. I will try this Monday. My driving test is approaching fast. I will share your channel🙂👍
Thank you for the explaination! Can be useful for me in 2 years time for me hopefully 🙏🏾
Are you planning to become a bus driver?
@@DrivingPsychology Correct!
Thanks for your videos, It gave me many tips and techniques to pass my bus driving test. As I needed to work on mirrors, my forward planning and awareness. I did it. Many thanks 😂
I'm glad it helped. Where are you driving? London?
thanks alot for this explanation
My pleasure. Are you a bus driver ?
Bro Icl tbh man don’t even know why training buses are old did you see that
@@DrivingPsychology nahh I just have a interest for buses and this video helps me learn abit more

Hi Craig just letting you know after writing the comments to you below. I passed my test. so thnaks for all of your help and guidence. I do want to ask do you teach your drivers about Tachographes if so can you help me to learn how to use a Tacograph Pleass.
straddle or double steer
Where are you learning to drive?
Tremendous stuff. Its a real benefit to listen to someone who knows bus driving and how to train learner drivers. Thank you Craig !
Thanks Chris please keep us informed as to how you do...
I really want to pay heartfelt thanks to Craig for his content. I wasn't put forward for a driving test at the end of my 25 hours of training with a national bus company. I experienced several of the instructor/student issues described in this video. Craig's content has helped give me the perspective and context to apply to another bus company to complete my bus driver training. So muchos gracias Craig, if karma is money you're a wealthy person.
Roundabout are sometimes a nightmare when people don’t signal or use wrong signal or people over speed.large Roundabouts should always be controlled by traffic lights.
Where are you learning? Please share the videos 🙂
Really valuable lessons. Thank you Craig !
I am a woman bus driver. On tight corner it is important to steer as slowly as possible and not to oversteer when you turn the bus from a side road into a main road, if there is no one coming from both sides you go as forward as you can possible then you steer but not too much and then you straighten, as well as this it is tricky at round abouts because when you go right you have to constantly avoid the hitting the round about just keep it steady but not too fast....generally it is easy to avoid kerbs if you also steer when your front wheels are past the turning point into the roads....tips are always welcome
Where do you drive buses? 🙂
Hello Craig I have my practical driving test tomorrow morning any hints and tips for me
Remember its only a driving test and you're driving for yourself not the examiner.
You’ve got a great way of delivering information, looking forward to watching more of your content! I’m starting my training as a PCV driver for national Express soon, my long term aim is to be a PCV instructor.
Thanks please keep in touch I'm happy to discuss 👍
Craig, just been watching your video on the driving line. You say you may need to signal if going overhead white line in the middle of the road. Do you need to indicate every time you cross the white line? Where is this written down?
No not every time. Once you have started filtering use your position and speed to make it obvious what you are doing. But if you go a long way before moving out again treat it as a new situation.
Thank you🫡
You’re welcome 😊
I have my module 3 and practical test this friday and this has helped a lot. Thanks
did you pass ?

Hello Craig just wanted to ask where you work and do you have any trainee jobs going?
Hi Mark I work for a London bus Operator. There are always driver jobs going at TfL operators. It's a non stop revolving door-conveyor belt ! 🙂
Basically Metroline in NW London.
Hi Craig is thanks for your reply. Can I ask would there be a possibility of me meeting with you. For you to assess my driving ability?
@@markgarwood-cc5vo Hi best to email me at captainboeing777300er@googlemail.com I don't teach privately but any advice i can offer is free. If you film yourself driving i can assess it. Don't worry about the accuracy as ill be listening to the engine, gear change points, and as long as the video is clear i can see where you are looking and get into your head to see what you are thinking. Just like a singer sends in an audition tape, as long as it is clear, it can be a very tool useful.
Hi Craig thanks for this. I'll see what I can do.
Thank you, starting my new driving job tomorrow and getting some more tips. Much appreciated 🙏🏼
Hi Hannah where do you start driving? Is it a UK bus operator?
Hi Craig just been looking at your videos. I have my reversing exercise and practical driving training and test soon. I had faild the practical driving twice. This will my third go. Can i ask are there hints and tips you may be able help me with please. I failed beforehand due driving over the kerb.
Can I ask you where you are learning?
In Oxford with a company called J Coates. J coats is vehicle training company being used by SERCO the company i work for to train me. I had 16hours previously over4 days of 4 hours a day 07.00 11.00 per day with last day being test day.
Hi craig i have my practical driving training and reversing exercise. Reverse in February and Practical driving training in March with J Coats Oxfordshire. I failed my driving test twice now due to drivjng over curbs and wounded if you could give me some pointer to passing. Do you teach privately?
Hi I don't teach privately but everything is in the videos. Go back and look at the ones related to steering. I'm sure you will find them beneficial 🙂
Hi Craig many thanks for your reply I'll take a look at your video on steering. I have 12 hours of training with my training provider would say that is long enough when I'm a novice?
You should record with a microphone better voice quality

Nice vedios thanks for you your help with the bus driving lesson
Thank you very much, your teaching and advice and tips are superb! I did public bus training twice at 2 different companies in Sydney, Australia and want to be prepared as best as possible if I can return to driving buses again. It's also good to consider professional driving as an art according to the way you describe it, not just something where you learn a series of facts from a list, but something where you have to think all the time about what you are doing and all the possible implications and the precautions you must take while driving the bus to ensure the safety of your bus and other road users and pedestrians too. Thanks
Nice lesson thanks
Just passed the exams for Dublin bus. Looking forward to take my bus on the road. Definitely I’ve learned a lot. To respect pedestrians, cyclists, bikers….traffic lights. Thx pal
I'm learning to drive a bus but am struggling with over stearing and kirbs. I'm not being told what I'm doing well just what I'm doing wrong or not bas well as I could be.
I passed my test and module 3 on Monday and I passed my module 4 last Friday. So happy that is over now I have to prepare myself with the general public 😬
If you have any specific questions please ask. Also please share the videos to help other drivers.
I was told to put gas before I learned and get used to swin and swing ... 😢sorry I may be dumb new bee but I'm not driving fast 9.5m bus between mad cyclists and pedestrians when I dont have basic training of narrow roads techniques...too bad for not listening ,not going faster, too slow . I mean my fist 6 of 7 hours toke place at night rain in busy London ... no explanations and only "stear more to the right ,stear left "... what i learn from instructions when im shaking around cars and pedestrians ...when after every curb must be explanation what we doing... and taking time to observe mirrors, somewhere were curbs are real and no other trafic. I had that proper training with cat C in EU . In UK i see how they create dangerouse drivers by teaching them speedy turns before they mastered the technique. Ones they bumb into new situation different situation ...they dont know what to do ... i dont want license with skills like that ... My nearside movement strugle and i never had slow motion adaptation. I can listen and do it ,but im aware one day in situation that seems similar as training turns, but actualy isnt... i will pay the price for fake understanding and not proper basic preparation. To master techniques in vehicle speed must be very slow and that speeding slowly ... it may take 2,4 h for technique only but then, another 2,4 h for application on the road.15 h you only master top skils in traffic ,but if first 5 6 are proper you may need 8/10 only . Here they telling you "go turn, gas, more gas".. and do all half way, no matter but 8h you must looks like you know how to drive ... Looks like *** speed and stearing make difference in the angle and that skill you can learn by practicing from lowest speed by building up speed day by day ...not for fixed paper work standarts...when i see my budies with 30,40h before the exam passing road work closure and instructor correcting them ... i know they look good ,they may get cat D ,but they are not safe and 30,40h been wasted. Im going back to europe to learn and to work ... safety come first...giving up with 7.5h-1 h reverse , motorway 1h, 1h circling the garage , 3h around the shoping center in 5 fragments of driving ... and hour imaginary that I dont remeber...pushed to speed up ,speed up ...
You should be constantly checking your positioning and mirrors before you even reach the junction, retired bus/coach driver of over 40yrs. When I was taught we sat over the front wheels, our instructors instilled in us the importance of your mirrors. Good luck to you in your career choice, I absolutely loved it especially the coach driving part.
Many thanks for your teachings ❤

Would be first class if i didn't have hear the person using the camera chewing gum, I have misophonia, sounds petty but selective sound sensitivity syndrome is a condition 😂
